Okay...now that the recent State League match has been and gone, I have come to the conclusion that the name on the trophy--The Advertiser Cup-- has no real significant meaning...its just a sponsor thing.
Now that the AFL State of Origin thing may not be back for a while, the Malcolm Blight Cup is going to stay in Victoria. We need to have the future games between the Leagues of SA and Victoria have a cup with the names of true SANFL and VFA/VFL legends.
I'm thinking these names for the SA legends...
1. Barrie Robran, the North Adelaide legend
2. Michael Aish, the Norwood man
3. Russell Ebert, the man of Port Adelaide
I prefer Robran myself because he devoted all his energies to the SANFL. Russell Ebert is pretty good too, and so is Aish cause he never left SANFL footy either.
Now all we need is a name from the VFA/VFL legends list.
Can all you VFL locals name some for the list?
If you do have some, make sure you list his credentials, you know...his club, games and years in league.
Thanks!
