Cups between teams

Has anyone noticed the upsurge lately of cups or trophies for teams competing against other teams.

This week is no exception, Bulldogs and Geelong are playing for....... wait for it..... The Fila Cup?!?!?!?!?!

On top of this you have -
Carlton and Collingwood - Peter McCallum cancer institute cup
Bulldogs and StKilda - Colonial Starlight trophy
Geelong and WCE - The Polly Farmer Cup
Geelong and Melbourne - Wills/Harrison Trophy
Bulldogs and Essendon - Ted Whitten Cup
Collingwood and Richmond - Dyer/Richards Cup
WCE and Fremantle/Adelaide and Port - Derby cups
Essendon and Richmond - Kevin Sheedy Cup
Sydney and Collingwood - Coventry/Lockett Cup (an insult to StKilda)

and the list goes on. I've been doing some thinking and have come up with some others.

StKilda and Hawthorn - Waverley Park memorial Trophy
Richmond and Melbourne - Yarra Park Cup
Hawthorn and Geelong - The Ablett Cup
Hawthorn and Melbourne - The Don Scott/Ian Ridley cup
Sydney and Brisbane - The Northern Derby Cup
Fremantle and Adelaide - The Tony Modra Cup
Adelaide and Geelong - The Malcolm Blight Cup

Thoughts and suggestions please.

From memory it started in 1993 with the Peter McCallum cup between Carlton and Collingwood. That was only introduced to raise money for cancer.

It is ridiculous now. It borders on embarrassing.

You also forgot to mention the fat rats clacker cup between Port and Freo.

Ah, you're forgetting the (unofficial) Franco Cozzo cup that is played for between Norda Malburn anda Foodisgray. ;-)
