Lore

Is there a list like this for every club with contract lengths?
There's one on the trade board (pinned resources thread) but some of the dates are dodgy because the data is all off footywire. And then there's one for each individual club in the club focus threads on the trade board – some of them have volunteers keeping them up to date but most are also based on footywire.

Some of the club boards have someone keeping track but others don't so it can be tricky to find info sometimes.

Looks like all our key signings for 2021 are done - maybe a couple of 1yr deals for some once trade week is done, although don't want to leave it too late to extend Phillips.

Would be good if we can sneak in a few cheap 2yr contract extensions on some of the 2022 players before the end of this season. Cox, Perkins and McGrath (who might have a Parish type year next year)

Laverde and Durham (if he had a 6 month contract, might've been 18 months) should both get a couple of years imo. But yeah, most of them are locked away now

Thought Laverde was automatically extended to 2022 but yeah Durham should be a straight forward extension. Although not yet convinced if it should be more than 1 year unless it's a dirt cheap 2 year deal. Given he's come in as a mature aged mid season draftee, he probably will accept cheap money.

Oh yeah Laverde has a trigger available apparently, but we don't know if he has activated it. Usually someone would say so... if not the club (which I would expect) then Twomey would report it as fact. He may also prefer to renegotiate as an OOC player though, rather than using the trigger, especially if he can get more money/security than what was originally on offer. Not obliged to use a trigger just because it's there.

Durham is good enough and Richmond know him well enough that there might be some competition to retain him. He thought they were drafting him at mid-year, and he was playing for their VFL team when that all happened, it's only that someone appeared to do something unpredictable and caused a domino effect that we got Durham and the guys we thought we were getting ended up elsewhere as well.

Cutler, Cahill, Johnson and Mozzie all still to be signed from main list.

Gleeson and Clarke from rookie list.

I could see Cutler and Clarke getting deals in the next week or so.

Reckon Johnson and Gleeson are gone.

Mozzie might get rookie listed or will be gone.

Cahill likely the one who will need to wait until after trade period to see what draft hand we have. Could go either way.

What was the unpredictable and who did we think we were going to get?

I don't know the details it's just that a few of the draftees on the day commented in their draft interviews that they thought they were going somewhere else, and clubs made space available on their lists to take more picks than they ended up using (Gold Coast, Essendon, Carlton, and St Kilda x2).

The live thread on the draft board had a bit of chatter about it, seems Moyle was expected to go to Collingwood, Durham landed with us the pick before Richmond's pick, and Kalin Lane unexpectedly landing at Brisbane. https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/thre...raft-discussion.1254759/page-41#post-70390210

If you cross reference the eventual draftees (at the top of that thread) with Twomey's late mail, most of it matches up though:

Is he not still associated with the VFL side? He's pictures here after the Grand Final win.
Yeah he’s the VFLW head coach.

But they announced a while ago that he’s also the coach and player development manager for the AFLW… And now they’ve added two other people doing coach and player development jobs for our AFLW team respectively.
