Actually in awe of how good this off season has been for us. Makes me even happier that Collingwood made a thread about how he was signing with them in 2018

And us!!One more year injury free would be great for him.
Yeah of course!And us!!
Touk Miller aswell in the next week.Callum Ah Chee one moment.

I would be interested in who the outstanding players whose contracts expire in 2017.

Matera is a downhill skier. If we have a good year, he will too.well you would think this will be the last season for Matty Shaw and Matera when they run out at year end
I would be interested to see a breakdown of Titans players and their background so we could compare it to us. I think they would have a large amount of players from NSW like we have from Victoria. Any chance Matchu? Is this what you're looking for?

Some interesting examples of origin there but I've tried to stick to the area that a player spent the majority of their juniors. Similar numbers for the Titans when compared to the Suns if you consider how reliant each team is on New South Wales and Victoria respectively. The Titans have one extra Queenslander on their list so that's comparable as well. What's not comparable is the large number of Kiwis on the Titans' list and not having players from other parts of Australia like the Suns do. So the two lists are similar in some ways but very different in other ways.
Both teams have junior programs on the Coast and other parts of Queensland that probably should be producing more players for the Gold Coast but, for whatever reason, both clubs are heavily reliant on the larger states that are south of the Tweed. As the city continues to grow and the junior programs continue to flourish you will see a larger number of Queenslanders on those lists but they will likely be reliant on the southern states for a while yet.
Interesting observation. Indigenous Australians are well represented on the Gold Coast through the two professional sports teams. Most states and territories in Australia have provided at least one Indigenous player to the Gold Coast. Not only that, there's a very good chance we'll see Ryan James appointed as the Titans' captain in the near future, which would mean both clubs have Indigenous captains.Cheers buddy. I expected that to be the case with NSW players. I have also noticed both teams have quite a few indigenous players and I found some pics from this year even though some of the guys in the Titans pic have moved on.

That's fair. Daye, Krakouer and Liddy all leaving after one AFL season (two retiring) wasn't a good look. Two of those boys being Queenslanders makes it look even worse. You'll always have players like Liam Patrick that spend a few years on the list and aren't good enough to cement a spot in the long-term but then you see a guys like Bennell/Garlett and you wonder. You also occasionally find gems like Harbrow and I guess it all comes down to the recruiter's ability to read each individual's character. That goes for non-indigenous players too. Hopefully Sansbury can have a similar effect that Paul Vandenbergh has had at Port Adelaide and future indigenous recruits feel comfortable living and playing on the Gold Coast. The SUNS have had a poor record with retaining indigenous players, compared with their non-indigenous counterparts. We have recently appointed Eddie Sansbury as Indigenous Liaison Officer. Hopefully he will help us retain the players we want to. Otherwise we might be reluctant to recruit as many in the future.

I would have thought the Suns are still a very good chance to pick up Brendon Ah Chee in next year's trade/draft period so that should help young Callum.
Hopefully Brendon has a good year and if he does want to come to GC Suns next year Port can be fairly compensated with one of our 2nd rd picks and we can be sure he is deserved of a spot on our senior list
I don't particularly see it happening.
Port got a good bunch of youngsters this draft period.
I'll take a stab and say GC will only draft 3-4 max this yr including Crossley.
The teams looking strong finally.
And full of midfielders or similar that go through there.
Won't be a hell of a lot of guys coming out I'd think.
Minus maybe lemmens shaw maybe matera Mckenzie etc.
Just don't see Brandon being in our needs going forward time will tell!
I don't reckon the decision to re-sign Matera and Shaw was a mistake as they only would have been replaced with more inexperience. With the injuries we've had i think even less experience would have been a nightmare however they are both on the chopping block need year. You look back at round 1 this year and Cameron was in the best 22 and Hallahan was really missed with a foot injury now one is delisted and the other could go next year. A year can change a lot of things.Still got 1 year of clean outs to come - it's looking better but there are still 5-6 clear delistings to make to undo Clayton's last brain fart to extend Shaw and Matera
Don't see the point in keeping Hallahan if he can't crack it for best 22 this year
Currie is superfluous to needs if Witts assumes #1 ruck and Crossley comes on board
Grant just isn't deserving of a spot on the list
Jack Leslie in a make or break year
McKenzie make or break year
Lemmens may conceivably not play a game in 2017 unless he vastly improves and could be traded or dropped to the rookie list for McPherson (Davis at 28 won't get a senior list spot)
Ablett also potentially leaving at end of year if rumors are fact
Potentially 5-9 changes to be made
In: Crossley, Dawson + 2 new draftees in 1st and 2nd rd (4 draftees) + McPherson upgrade
1-3 more spots for experienced players
Like I said previously Brendon Ah Chee doesn't request a trade to GC out of the blue unless he was on our radar in the first place so he is a chance to come next year. If Grant, Matera and Davis (due to age) on our list as high half forwards then there is a need for a bloke with a fair bit of talent
