Since when does a broken finger mean two months out.

Taylor Adams has suffered a finger injury and will miss eight weeks according to Terry Wallace.
Wallace broke the news on SEN Afternoons.

“Unfortunately for Magpie fans, Taylor Adams has had an incident where he’s done damage to his finger and it requires a bone graft,” Wallace said.
“So it looks like it could be up to eight weeks on the sidelines which is really disappointing news.”

I read the article, it just sounds a bit like Plough is putting on the same doctor's cap that Tom Browne likes to put on.

Um.. they're saying he has had this injury for a long time. Why wait til now?

Collingwood is awaiting specialists’ advice on a finger injury that could put Taylor Adams out for the first few rounds of the season.

The Pies today confirmed Adams was still having a long-standing finger injury assessed by doctors, but had not yet decided on a course of treatment.
Media commentator Terry Wallace told SEN Radio today Adams, superb in the finals series for Collingwood, would need a bone-graft that would sideline him for 6-8 weeks.

That would put him out for as much as the first month of the season.

But Collingwood is still waiting on medical experts to assess whether he needs a procedure for an issue he has carried for some time.

Unfortunate.

At least he can keep his fitness up in that time, and we’re well stocked in the midfield.

8 weeks still sounds like BS to me though.

Two players come back on the track.
One leaves.

That's our history with injuries lol

More recently, it seemed more like 1 player back, 2 leave. A reversal of that is actually a fantastic improvement.

More like 1 player back, 2 key defenders leave! Aaaargh!

That sounds suspiciously like someone wants to be first and not necessarily accurate. I mean if you’re going to get the surgery now is better than in a months time, but it feels like one of those ones where the story changes as it evolves.

One thing I will say is thankfully it’s a mid for a change! Everyone has injuries so I’d much prefer them in areas that we can absorb them.

The one bit of good news with Adams getting the finger,
He can complete ongoing fitness and running etc.
So that’s something.

Bear into more stoppages.

"Problem persisted for a number of weeks"

Which is code for, he did it late last year and we are only acting on it now.

"The finger continually displaces"

We just seem to be clueless with injuries.
Love to hear the thinking behind allowing it to persist for weeks, a finger continually displacing isn't normal.

Sounds like Wallace is putting the worse spin possible on it but it certainly is an area where we are more able to cope with. Not really what you want to hear 3 weeks out from the start of the season but I prefer to have these problems at this time of the year than season,s end but a bastard none the less, heal quickly mate spots in the midfield are at a premium.

Maybe deciding to do it due to injury status of others and being able to cover it ???
