I don't think Shane Edwards is a bad kick, he just often tries to do too much or pull off something too riskyShane Edwards is still an ordinary kick of the ball, yet he looks absolutey top notch elite compared to Castagna.

Cmon hes a poor kick and always has been. His kicks lack penetration and are wayward. The odd poor decision when kicking does not help.I don't think Shane Edwards isn't a bad kick, he just often tries to do too much or pull off something too risky
He is what he is. A really good B grade player that should not have too much pressure on him.Cmon hes a poor kick and always has been. His kicks lack penetration and are wayward. The odd poor decision when kicking does not help.
You want a positive lets talk about his hands, lets not sugar coat what is poor.

Moore and townsend will be helpfulInside mids I'd suggest
The only one of note is Miles and maybe Edwards but both are short people
Cotchin, Lambert is outside and the rest are flanks in duds
Personally i dont think there are enough positional distinctions. I think you should take what appears to be the norm for clubs on game day and replicate it with your second 22.
Lets say we have Two key defenders and a third tall in defence, that is very much the norm for all sides. Then logically in the vfl team you would want to replicate that set up with Two key defenders and a third tall.
So to me the ideal amount of numbers for key defenders is 4, Elton, Astbury, Chaplin, Rance. and third talls 2 Grimes ?????.
We have the numbers for kpd but we clearly dont have the neccesary quality with genuine questions over Chaplin, Astbury, and Elton.
We only have Grimes who is not a kpd and in fact plays mostly on smaller types, so we need another third tall type at least.
Imo both kpd and third tall defender areas need to be addressed, not so much because of the numbers we have but because of the quality and lack of development.
Imo a Quality kpd is badly needed to partner Rance, two third talls are needed to be developed in the twos and provide cover if Grimes goes down.
Thats just one area. Do the exercise in all areas and actually define the roles a bit more. Define sml med tall and kpd. There are small distinctions that really need to be made. Define the actual number of players needed in each area.
With out doing a spread sheet with games and age, here's how i would define the roles for each player.
It is based on what role each player spends most time doing.
Ruck - Soldo, Maric, Hampson.
Ruck/Fwd - Vickery, Griffiths, McBean.
KPF - McKenzie,, Riewoldt.
Tall fwd - ???????.
Med Fwd - Gordon, Lennon,
Sml Fwd - Lloyd, Butler, Short.
KPD - Astbury, Elton, Chaplin, Rance.
Tall Def - Grimes,
Med Def - Vlastuin, Dea, Morris, Batchelor,
Sml Def - Houli, Castagna,
Outside Mid - Grigg 190/85,Mcintosh 192/91, B Ellis 181/81, Deledio 188/89, Martin 187/89, Conca 185/83, Menadue 187/72, Hunt 184/78, Drummond 182/86.
Inside Mid - Miles 179/80, Thomas 186/87, C Ellis 184/75, Cotchin 185/85, Edwards 182/80, Lambert 178/75.
Some serious issues smack you in the face. The lack of quality in each area and numbers in key areas plus the lack of size with the inside mids the obvious ones. Imo every area needs work.
Are you high? The sooner we **** off Francis the better.
Anyone that called conca and batchelor out must have been though. Are you high?
Conca is a gun will get through pre season injury free hopefully. Also batch was good this year, with just about every first round pick lately being amazing. Eg lennon, ellis, cellis, vluastin,Anyone that called conca and batchelor out must have been though.
Harsh, Conca hasn't been able to get his body right due to injuries and Batchelor was great this yearAnyone that called conca and batchelor out must have been though.
Batchelor would get a game at most teams, as would Conca. That says enough for now.Anyone that called conca and batchelor out must have been though.
Not harsh at all. Not when you take into account the goings on surrounding Conca. It is only your opinion that Batchelor was GREAT.Harsh, Conca hasn't been able to get his body right due to injuries and Batchelor was great this year
Even if they were misses, every club gets some wrong
Batch is so ordinary. He rarely takes the game on. He is not creative. He usually does a few simple horrible turnovers per game. Conca is the most unreliable disposer of the ball since Daffy and he gives away cheap frees. I therefore disagree.Conca is a gun will get through pre season injury free hopefully. So really there is only 1 fail yet you are having a cry? lolNot harsh at all. Not when you take into account the goings on surrounding Conca. It is only your opinion that Batchelor was GREAT.
Besides here is a list of FJs top 20 picks.I am going to put a negative spin to it because imo his record warrants it. This is a bloke who has the most important role at any footy club for the last 10 years. Ten whole years and we have holes everywhere in the list and the best we have done is make finals without winning one. Ten years. In that time frame most sides have been in finals dropped out and gone back up again.
JON #8 - Fail . Yes very much a FJ pick. FJ was given a full time job on the back of his input into the 05 draft.
Cotchin #2 - PASS. Kruezer and Cotchin stood out like dogs balls. Thank christ he took the obvious.
Riewoldt #13 - Pass. JR was literally the 2nd last tall fwd left of about 5 kpfs who were highly rated. We were chasing a kpf the decision was almost made for us.
Rance #18 - Pass. A freakin good pick, but he was a highly touted junior. A lot had him top 10 including me.
Vickery #8 - Seven years in and a top 10 pick. I think to date this pick is a fail. Others will will disagree and that is probably fair enough.
Martin #3 - Well there was 4 standouts and we took one of them. The fact is the order was known before the draft, Melbourne was always going to take Scully and Trngove which they duly did. Those two have not worked out as well as most thought, One Morabito has had about 4 knee recos and never got going, and the fourth Martin has been a very good pick. It was well known at the time Paul Roos and the Swans hierarchy offered picks 6 and 14 for pick 3 to get a crack at dusty.
Griffiths #19 - Fail to date.
Conca #6 - Fail to date.
B Ellis #15 - Pass. But that doesnt mean there are not major issues with his game.I wont bag him except to say if in charge of the list i would not have a problem in trying to trade him for a good pick or for a more rounded player.
Vlastuin #9 - pass. Early days and wont criticise. I am hoping he becomes much more than he has shown for a top 10 pick. I think he will get there.
Lennon #12 - Has shown some glimpses it is just too early to say either way.
C Ellis #12 - Another who showed some glimpses but hey it really is too early to say.Personally i am hopeful based on those glimpses.
If conca can get on the park he is a gun just look at 2013 formBatch is so ordinary. He rarely takes the game on. He is not creative. He usually does a few simple horrible turnovers per game. Conca is a gunAnyone that called conca and batchelor out must have been though.
Couldn't give a flying about your bullshit analysis of FJs picks, but Batchelor held down a permanent spot in the 3rd best defence in the entire competition as a 23 year old. You have no idea how he was instructed to play, so to criticise him for not attacking enough is pointless. Not harsh at all. Not when you take into account the goings on surrounding Conca. It is only your opinion that Batchelor was GREAT.
So pretty much the fails are his fault and the success was either super obvious or too early to tell. K.Not harsh at all. Not when you take into account the goings on surrounding Conca. It is only your opinion that Batchelor was GREAT.

It would be good if you could read through the tears of anguish. I suggest you try again. So really there is only 1 fail yet you are having a cry? lol
Mate he is a bum. It has nothing to with instruction but his Footy and Athletic abilities. That so called third best defense is held together by a single thread hence we ALL talk about depth and quality in the area.Couldn't give a flying about your analysis of FJs picks, but Batchelor held down a permanent spot in the 3rd best defence in the entire competition as a 23 year old. Yes the fails are his fault or do we blame someone else. How about the coach or the president. So pretty much the fails are his fault and the success was either super obvious or too early to tell. K.
Thanks. Now I know not to listen to any of your posts.
