Yes we all know we are developing, yes we all know it will take time- 'in three years we will be good' is what they say- but why?

- Rattens game plan has proved that it doesnt match our style of play- we constantly go around the boundry- and NEVER go down the corridor. How often last night did you see a player- i.e. gibbs, get the ball in the middle and immediately turn left or right to go to the boundry. We do not have the skill to execute this game plan.

- Im not a medical doctor but what is going on with JUDDs injury? Either he can or cannot run- at the present time he is jogging around and CANNOT sprint- Apparently this will take 12 weeks to resolve- so does this mean he will suddenly be able to put on the after burners and run again? I have my doubts. Watching him on the boundary he went to reach for his groin, but obviously realised everyone would be watching him and took his hand away.

- 'EDDIE'- Whilst Eddie Betts may have kicked goal of the year last night, his output is plain and simply poor- before that goal he had 4 or 5 possessions inside fifty that resulted in what 1 point! A small forward who doesnt kick goals and who lets his man do what ever they want is a waste of time. At least he did a 17 minute time trial round optus oval- indicating the fitness of an unfit 14 year old.

-STEVENS, SCOTLAND, HOULIHAN- The senior passengers in the team- for years it has been houlihan and more recently scotland who have come in, done what they need to get by, rack up the easy touches and get paid at the end of the day- WHO CARES about the result? Nick Stevens one of my favourite Carlton players seems to be following these guys, never works back, doesnt run as much, looks over weight. The game must be easy when all you do is stand loose between the opposition or run behind the player to get the easy possession.........

- DO WE HAVE ANYONE THAT CAN WIN THE BALL INSIDE?- Hadley did OK last night, maybe we can use Pfiffer in there, but how many guys watch the ball in close and dont put there head over it.

- KERNAHAN, BRADLEY and all the old school crew must clear out- we should have cut ties with them years ago- during the Elliot era.

Now I know that all you blind faithful Carlton supporters will abuse me, and call me a troll and question what I have to say- but in reality I am only angry because I can honestly say at the end of the year we wont have learnt
anything- The kids seem like they are being told how to play, when they really wont develop. Even Essendon a team some will say have a FAR worst list than ours, took on the game last week, and whilst they might do the same and get expolited by GEELONG, the kids are learning and will benefit in the long rung. But not Carlton, we will end up with kids with no feel for the game- but 'Murphy, Gibbs and Kreuzer' will be good- yes, but unfortunately we can not end up with a team of number ones.

What can be done? I dont know- I say drop a few of these so-called senior players, why not? They dont do anything anyway- and play a few more kids- give armield, austin and these types a go. Anyway that he is might rant.

mrkyuss.

p.s- Another thing I noticed last night. I was sitting next to all the Carlton players that wont playing- by three quarter time they all had left- to go the rooms, out drinking, some gay metro night club who knows? One player remained who watched all of the game- whilst sitting amongst drunk St Kilda supporters, getting heckled, he didnt care because he was concerned about his team and actually had a PASSION for the game. His name was MATTHEW KREUZER-lets not stunt his development- something has to change.

Have to agree with you on Betts, even if he did kick a miraculous goal, his output hasn't changed much in 3 seasons. 1.2 goals a game is pretty ordinary, considering he is our only crumbing small forward. I would rather drop him for a game or two and see what another player (Ellard??) might be able to do.

As for Stevens, he always was a stocky sort of bloke and coming off a serious injury will run himself into form pretty soon. Houlihan was getting killed by Milne last night but generally plays pretty well, contributed a goal. Scotland had an off night but so did a lot of Carlton players...we were playing a team that will probably be playing off for a flag. I wouldn't call any of those guys passengers.

Judd should be played up forward, where we can use his great footy brain and provide another viable target. Bentick also should be brought in against the bombers.

Your comments may be true but I think a bit premature. We were told bt Ratten, Pratt and everyone else that this will be a learning year for each young player and a lesson in playing together. The more you continually change the team around the less they will get experience playing with each other. It's the chicken or the egg.
The one guy everyone is forgetting is Fevola. Drop him for 4 to 6 weeks. His body language is still pathetic and he still turns his back on the game to complain the the umpire. He is a cancer in our team. Replace him with Wiggins.

IMO I agree with mrkyuss comments there. I find that the blues are going sideways, and when the saints get possession they go down the centre and we hardly find any blues players there to anticipate or defend. And the hard balls are very rare, the opposition are consistently competing and they are not being continuely contested.

I agree with most of your comments. Remnants of the 'jobs to the boys' mentality such as kernahan need to be shown the door. Elliot put him in cotton wool for years and gave him a lot of time; I am not sure he has really contributed anything. In any event the mentality must change

Your analysis of Betts is spot on. He contributes very little and his opponent is always damaging.

I wouldn't mind seeing Scotland Stevens dropped into the 2s but I think Houlihan's skills are desparately needed by the club

Kicking skills. Not good enough for the gameplan. Simple. Turnovers cost us at least 5 or 6 goals Saturday night.

agree. we were at least a 3 to 4 goal better side on the night!!!

just always seem to kick more points than goals these days!!

For any of you who have played sport, having a respected captain
who leads from the front is a massive lift.

Juddy is still in transition and will require some time before
he will be gunning from the front with the afterburners alight.
He seems like the sort of bloke who leads by example rather than
speaking it and until he can do that it makes it just that little bit more
difficult for us. I don't wanna have to solely rely on the bloke
but the sooner he can rip the place the apart and play like
we know he can the better.
It's a piece of the Blues puzzle that I feel is so important,
'cause when you have someone leading the
way by playing as a champion it just ignites something within.

We've lacked true leadership for quite some time now and I think
it's something which can really pave the way for the young guys.

- 'EDDIE'- Whilst Eddie Betts may have kicked goal of the year last night, his output is plain and simply poor- before that goal he had 4 or 5 possessions inside fifty that resulted in what 1 point! A small forward who doesnt kick goals

2005 5th most goals (first season)
2006 2nd most goals
2007 4th most goals

and who lets his man do what ever they want

2005 6th most tackles (first season)
2006 2nd most tackles
2007 3rd most tackles

Any relation to the already very popular around here Kyusss?

recon carlton ran out of legs in the third quarter, i think fev was stuffed after about the first 5 minutes!. they need some quick players running through the midfield, or get some running backs, that run it out of the backline. we cant rely on guys like thorton to do it because when he goes for a run no one covers him, thats how rochmond got so many easy goals, no one was back there. fev needs 2 lift his game.

who ever that young kid was playing on richo did a shoking job, i didnt c 1 time were he marked it over him, they should have put thorton on him from the start.

MrKyuss - You are all over it! There is a massive problem at Carlton and I am still not seeing any positive signs!! We need to bit the bullet with a few of senior players and well known board members and start from scratch again - THE WAY IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE THE FIRST TIME! Has-been players isn’t a quick fix (PAGAN F*%KED US) – look at the Doggies they’ve recruited older players trying to pinch a premiership but it doesn’t work!!

How on earth have players like Houlihan, Bannister, Saddington, Wiggins, Betts, Simpson (overrated - looks good in a crap side!), Scotland & Ackland stayed on the list??? They have proven over recent years their not the players taking Carlton forward!

I also agree that out Leadership group is appalling and needs a massive change! Judd isn’t the answer to everything!

If St.Kilda had been on their game they would have pumped us by 100 points!

I feel my thinking is like you MrKyuss the reality is we need answers quick - PLEASE!!!!!

Kernahan is good to have around the club -gives the players inspiration and something too look up to - imagine being at Brisbane and Having Voss telling you to lift your game - no argument - you just know you are being told by someone who is better than you - and when you play well and fullfiil your expectations then that's great. Kernahan is fairly benign - a too is bradley - this purging of players is so misguided its just ridiculous.

Sure get the best guys available - and if they are blues so what ? Having club legends around the club doesn't hurt.

The results of the past couple of weeks have been dissapointing - but lets not start blaming everyone and the pet dog - we have been through this for 6 years - it really is time to move on and stop dragging up the same old ridiculous petty reasoning week after week, season after season.

Lets let the players and coaches wear it, let them take responsibility for their efforts - Judd has made this point very clear - and I thoroughly agree with the approach.

A loss is ok so long as there was effort - a loss and no commitment deserves to be called the shite that it is.

When the players finally win - hopefully this week - it will be on their terms - it will be because of them - NOT because we fired Bradley, removed Kernahan, replaced Ratten, voted Dick out - it will be because the players gave their all, put in their best effort and because the coaches did their job. This will inspire confidence in them, it will give them hope and pride.

Firing Bradley and blaming Ratten will do sweet fck all.

I can be critical of Eddie too but it is interesting to note that Stephen Milne one of the more prolific goal scoring small forwards only av. 1.9 (< 2) and is a far more experienced player. Didak only av.'s 1.4

that's being a bit harsh i think... A lot of people seem to forget that this is only 21 and only in his 3rd season... as stated before, he's done as much as getting 2nd highest amount of goals in a season... for a small little goal sneak, that's a BIG achievement. The likes of Davis, krakouer, etc. were never expected to achieve this, because that's just what they are; goal-sneaks. They are excitement players who are used to just set the game alight, which he does quite well...

Also, your judgment of his game against st.kilda is totally unfair. If you actually watched the game and watched in closely you would have noticed that a large percentage of the match we was actually leading up the ground and getting most of his disposals around the wing/ HFF. There is no doubt that Ratten sent him in to that game expecting him not to kick a large amount of goals...

I think he is a great investment for the future and one we should really focus on developing further...
