Certainly not for Gibson. He's better than Gibson.Hampton can't come out of the side for Gibson. He's younger and more athletic. His skills are better too. It doesn't make any sense from a list management perspective to play Gibson.

lots would say that's a good game for dmac.
I'd be amazed if he got delisted, our cupboard isn't full of his type so we need depth there. Maybe traded but you don't delist from your top 30 players.
Noticed that Pyke sought him out specifically when he went on the ground to give him a hug after the game.If he has got even one option elsewhere I expect him to move and it will be for steak knives. I have the feeling that Pyke, Campo, Clarke and Vader dont rate him.

Was probably the 2nd or 3rd person he went to. He didn't bother giving others a hug.
Not sure what you can read into that, but my suspicions are that Pyke does rate him and perhaps those in the back office does not, ie Burton and Roo, or maybe they hold some kind of grudge.
Think you might be reading too much into that. Hugged Talia too so not sure what the psychoanalysis on that isNoticed that Pyke sought him out specifically when he went on the ground to give him a hug after the game.

He is always injured. They gave him time to get fit. That’s good. Would love an answer as to why he wasn’t selected all this time when available. But our season started this week. Hopefully he keeps getting better and better and we can have a crack at this thing.

Gibson was rubbish in the few games he played for us.He’s really not
Yeah he hugged Talia first.Think you might be reading too much into that. Hugged Talia too so not sure what the psychoanalysis on that is
Yes he was.No he wasn’t.
great point - I watched the last quarter again yesterday and the difference was those extra 1%ers from Sloane, Greenwood etc. The game is so contested now that every little effort makes a difference. Watch Richmond's forward line and you get the picture.Hampton and Sloane for me provided something that's been truly missing this season. And that's the scrapping element in the ball ups that stops the opposition getting easy/clean disposal when it doesn't go our way, and often results in us winning the territory battle. Which is how you win the midfield battle against a good midfield IMO!
Sloane used his tagger perfectly to run towards the oppositions best player, essentially negativing 2 midfielders and allowing Crouch and Gibbs to get some free space. Hampton just used some good old fashioned desperation. Neither of them will show up on the highlights package for these efforts, but they were difference makers to the teams overall performance.
Give him a month to judge him properly.
Did enough to stay on the side.
Reckon Matty Crouch's crook shoulder has responded to treatment finally because he was back to laying solid tackles again....a team high 9 tackles.Hampton and Sloane for me provided something that's been truly missing this season. What's the most consecutive games he has played before getting injured?Surely we are long past that point. He had 2-3 last season and is 24.
Hopefully that clutch goal is what clicks for him but at this point in time, I wouldn't hold my breathe.
Seemed to have confidence in his body on the weekend. People knocked his first half, but I just saw a guy in the middle of everything when the contest was hot. 20 contest possessions is certainly nothing to sneeze at!Reckon Matty Crouch's crook shoulder has responded to treatment finally because he was back to laying solid tackles again....a team high 9 tackles.

You're probably right with that fastball trick. Very rapid twitch kind of exercise would be very useful to hone that kind of skill. While I may not have noticed this above, it doesn't mean the description is inaccurate.
But it's this here that is absolutely spot on. The "scrapping" that's mentioned....work rate, work ethic, fitness, fatigue, etc....they all play a part. But for the most part, scrapping (for contested ball) typically comes down to razor sharp & explosive hand-eye coordination, and this is not something you can improve just by doing laps of an oval. There are indeed specialised drills and exercises that you can do to improve this sorta thing (I'm pretty sure that juggling helps), but from what I've heard, it's this here that helps improve it enormously. Not running. Not swimming. Not cycling. Not boxing pad work. Those improve fitness, but are sort of rhythmic. What's needed is the sorta awkward, irregular, explosive activity that's shown in the link above. Until you've tried what's shown, you cannot really appreciate how difficult it is. When you've been smashed at clearance work and contested ball? I'd be making the players do this sh1t for hours, 'til they can do it in their sleep. And Pykey needs to focus on that sorta thing bigtime.
You can improve it a fair bit, but a big part of it is natural born ability, and we need to pick the players best suited to this. The Sloane Ranger and Hampton are two that spring to mind, but I'm pretty sure that Eddie Betts and Brucey (Laird) would fit the bill as well. And possibly Ratkins, Luke Brown, and Milera. Not all of them might be good at it, but they're worth trying in the Centre. Forget 5km time trial times....look at in-tight explosive reflexes and agility. Scott Thompson was brilliant at it, but his ball use and disposal were horrendous.
