I agree that people who flash knives purely as an intimidation factor, dont generally intend to use them. But when people use knives as a way to achieve other purposes, ie getting money to feed a drug habit, or trying suicide by copper etc etc, etc then more subtlety is needed.

even then - trying to get money - knives are still intimidation. not many people would have the balls to use em. Much easier targets than someone who will obviously fight back.

Unless someone is 100% confident in their own disarming abilities, I would suggest they are better off complying, in regards to handing over money from a cash register etc.

Is this the advice you would give your workers if you owned an obvious target, like a 7/11 etc.? Would you tell them not to pander to the c**** in society, and risk injury for a few dollars?

If you're really worried about this supposed shell game, have the admins check to IP addresses of our posts et. al., then compare the times. Then establish exactly how one guy is moving a couple hundred klicks to make separate posts a few minutes apart.
