Admin Notice Cutting-Edge New Rules

Evening respected members of the SFA community and NaturalDisaster,

Tonight I am announcing a significant rule change that will completely transform the way team sheets are submitted. From Round 3 onwards, players will be separated by slashes instead of dashes.

B: BP / FB / BP
HB: HBF / CHB / HBF
C: W / C / W
HF: HFF / CHF / HFF
F: FP / FF / FP
FOLL: RU / RR / RO
INT: INT / INT

This is the common solution that will end serial_thrilla's senseless crusade to punish those who have less than 20-20 vision in his rants about em-dashes and en-dashes.

Also I added a new section to the rules.

SEC [12]. CLUB MAINTENANCE

12A) Team Activity Reporting
The club's match thread posting activity must be reported within the club's Official Team Thread within 2 weeks (14 days) of the match being played e.g. a club must report their posting activity statistics as at Round 3, by the conclusion of Round 5 at the latest.

Should a club fail to comply with this they will receive the penalty defined by 6B for a Minor Offence.

12B) Committee Room Engagement
Clubs must nominate a representative to engage in discussions within the Committee Room. The representative must vote on matters where directed by the Administrator. Even in cases where the club does not hold a position on an issue, the representative should still vote 'present'.

The nominated representative must also make nominations and participate in discussions relating to official league awards within the timeframe specified by the Administrator.

Where a nominated representative is expected to be absent temporarily, they must notify their absence within the Absences Thread and inform the Administrator of the duration of the absence so that a substitute representative can readily take their place.

Missing a vote, failing to submit nominations for league awards and/or sufficiently engage in discussions relating to league awards or other issues, or disappearing without notifying of an absence could attract an informal warning on first instance, formal warning on second instance, request of the club to change their representative on third instance.

The Administrator reserves the right to remove Committee Room access for a representative should they repeatedly fail to engage in the Committee Room after warnings are issued.

TL;DR version - it is now compulsory to post your match thread activity stats in your team thread regularly and I've given myself the power to remove committee members that fail to perform their role because the last thing we want to tolerate within SFA leadership is laziness and incompetence.

This serious? I was just thinking about catching up on OOB participation stats today cos I couldn't be arsed last week. Then again there wasn't a rule about it last week either.
So ... needs a bunch of definitions pls. I am sure I generally get the gist but :

• what is the relevant data? Simply a count of all posts in a match thread split by each squadlisted player who contributes those posts? What happens if someone is delisted or changes teams during a draft period, but continues to add some content at that time?
• what constitutes an instance of activity? Imagine if the match thread OP is a participant in one of those two teams, does the OP count? If the match commentary poster is a member of one of those teams ... etc
• what constitutes the match thread? Match threads posted by a non-designated creator due to lateness or otherwise inability of designated creator to pop a thread up in time - does that count?
• how does a tirade of 20 one-word posts count against match posting activity? Is it 20 points, or is treated more critically?
• when is cut-off for a match thread? Do they who are responsible for maintaining their teams' stats have to check every hour to see if a thread has gained added content? What about an old match thread bumped 3 weeks later with a relevant update from someone who said that they'd get back to someone?
• when is cut-off to publish the stats? If I or anyone throws them up 10 minutes before the next round, is that still cool? Or does it need to be earlier in the week?
• who can add them? Can any member of the squadlist add them? What if a team's stats poster is off crook and someone else just makes numbers up to cover their butts, is that ok? The dedicated provider can correct it all when they are back on board ...
• what's the expected format? tabular, to avoid scrappy memo style? how do you want name changes treated? any particular separators? (tabs, dashes, slashes, pipes)?
• etc.

But in all seriousness, this is a piss poor approach to make the league a better place, let's be real Kennedy Parker.

The simple solution to the team sheet confusion was to relax the stringency, not tighten it more. Make it so that a commonly accepted delimiter is used and the simmers can easily read the team sheet. Hyphens, long or short (preferably long) and slashes are all acceptable delimiters.

The rule about posting stats in team threads regularly is actually a joke, right? Awful, terrible idea and to mandate it is just ******* insane.

I hope there's a revolt... and hopefully, you haven't changed those rules about overthrowing the admin again.

I'm all for the teamsheet formatting and suggested this several seasons ago as it makes sense from a data collection perspective. Unfortunately it appears that this was brought in to reduce drama? This doesn't make sense.

Also, mandating team reports and posting activity in team threads? This is not the way to go about promoting activity. Talk to captains. Discuss ideas in the committee.

I think it is time for manangatang to step into the admin role.

Barry, do you know if captains were even consulted for their feedback before introducing these rules?

Seems hypocritical to include rules about voting on committee matters and then not even mention in the OP whether this was the admin's sole decision or one collectively endorsed by the Committee.
