What there to like about lawyers, accountants and boring office clerks who ride around thinking they are doing the tour de france?

Some bike riders are obnoxious arsewipes.

Saying that there should be more understanding of the road rules between drivers and bike riders.

Too many drivers are just as obnoxious and arrogant when they see a bike rider. This attitude needs to change if we are ever going to coexist on the roads.

I don't mind cyclists, by and large. They're getting exercise, and reducing traffic congestion and pollution - what's not to like? I do have issues with the lycra brigade who like to pack together and take up freeway lanes, when there's a perfectly good shoulder or bike lane for them to use. It's inconsiderate and, more to the point, dangerous.

However, I detest Critical Mass cyclists. This is a massive movement in the US and I am dismayed to find it becoming popular here. Large groups of cyclists who gather in the middle of the CBD during Friday afternoon peak, and then cycle slowly through the city as a huge group - disregarding red lights, and blocking off side streets / traffic to allow the unimpeded flow of the group.

Complete tools, all of them - completely worthless, aggrevates everybody, and gives cyclists a bad name. It does however give me the opportunity to post this hilarious (albeit totally reprehensible) video of a hipster on his fixie getting bodychecked:

Sweet justice.

Pick off a few of them at random like that and critical mass won't be a problem for long.

^ The law isn't with you there.

I would usually be considerate and ride to the side but with you in mind I might start taking up the whole lane, and if you don't like it you can run me down and face murder/attemped or otherwise go get $#@!$%.

Maybe if you guys paid a cyclist tax you can fund more and better cycleways/lanes. So you stop complaining about having to share the road with people who pay to be on it.

lol, this whole thread is about drivers complaining about cyclists, not the reverse.

It has been said numerous times already but cyclists who obey the road rules are fine. It's the morons who are a law unto themselves that ruin it for the rest of them.

Like today for instance, I'm on my motorbike at the lights of a major road here (Grand Junction Road for those playing at home), although this is a T-Junction. The cars going from the connecting road onto GJR have the green light. A cyclist, without a care in the world, just rolled through the red causing at least one car making the turn to brake and swerve a little.

Just ludicrous.

I love how motorists think they are the only people in the country who pay tax, you do realise that rego doesnt actually pay for the roads dont you?

Holy shit did you even read it?

I said "Pay to be on it", I didn't say we paid for the road infrastructure. I just mentioned that if you guys paid a cyclist tax you might be able to get better cycleways etc.

i ride and i have driven and paid rego and taxes for 20 years so stick your cyclist tax up your arse, i've paid enough over the years.
rogue cyclists shit me as well but most of us respect the shared carriageway rules.

maybe you should you peanut.
in fact you could trade your car in for a better username, something that actually does something, hero.

This thread has taught me that cyclists are very angry people :)

nah mate, i drive a car as well.
i actually hate the majority of cyclists that "lycra up" and ride in big packs and subsequently think they own the road. i ride purely to keep fit and not for some status thing and as such prefer to ride on my own so i can concentrate on riding and the road at the same time. i respect the road rules and try to stick as close to the side white line as possible. i don;t ride during peak hours when some w***ers block a whole lane and cant understand why cyclists get a bad name.
what i object to is some of the clowns on here thinking all cyclists are the same, as i said before i get pissed off as well when i am driving and some cyclists don't obey the rules.
if everyone does what they are supposed to do then i dont see a reason why the roads cant be shared, having said all that i prefer to ride the hills anyway.

Well I waited till 8.30:mad:

Was interested in a news story on Ch 9 news tonight about approaching cyclists being cleaned up by cars (parralleled parked) drivers opening their doors into bike lanes. Apparent TAC cover for cyclists even when they don't pay a premium.
