not sure have to wait and see, why do you need to know today, maybe not on SundayWhat time on Sunday? When do Geelong fly in?
Covid proved flying up the day of the game was fine.So if a cyclone hits Brisbane over Thursday and Friday, when do Essendon fly up to play Gold Coast? Wouldn't be any planes on Thursday or Friday, can't fly up on the day of the game, so we'll need to fly up before the cyclone hits and stay through the cyclone?
No cyclones in Melbourne, but if this WAS in Melbourne then the game would have been postponed 2 days ago.

Wasn’t that the same round when Hawthorn (1st) lost to Brisbane (last) in probably the biggest upset in the history of the VFL/ AFL history?

Why would they make the decision today when Geelong were going to fly Wednesday?Hapless, the decision should have already been made.
Swap the games around, Brisbane home game in round 15. A nice little 2 home game run for Brissie heading into their bye.
C7 just reporting that the AFL is prepared to leave it until game day to make a decision if they have to, ****ing useless.
Why would they make the decision today when Geelong were going to fly Wednesday?
It doesn't affect their preparation whatsoever.
Works for Geelong/Brisbane, but doesn't for Essendon/Gold Coast as they don't have the bye in the same round. This is classic BigFooty “crack a walnut with a tactical nuclear strike” posting.
The obvious solution is move it to round 3.
Why would they move it to Geelong? Just push it back to round 3 and work out the bye for them later.Because moving the game to Geelong could have been an option or could be an option.
The longer they leave it, the less likely that can happen.
Not to mention flying in will be problematic.Because it will be monsoonal rain and squalls after it crosses the coast for days.
It doesn't just stop within a day after crossing the coast.
They will be on flood alert.
Why would they move it to Geelong? Just push it back to round 3 and work out the bye for them later.
The Gold Coast and Essendon game doesn't have an easy alternative, so if it's possible to be played on Saturday or Sunday with Essendon flying up on the day then that's the likely solution.Just because it could be done due to COVID; doesn’t mean it needs to be done in 2025
Sure theres plenty of issues, but the act of flying up on gameday isn't one of the things the AFL would be concerned about.Covid isn't a hurricane, it dosen't actually stop anything. There's no way anyone can guarantee planes will be able to land in Brisbane area on Saturday at all. So what's the backup plan for that game, given unlike Thursdays it can't be postponed to a bye round. Sunday? Essendon play in Melbourne on Friday so that wouldn't be ideal. And same applies, no guarantee planes will be able to land on Sunday either.
Barrett on FC said he thinks the game will be postponed and played round 2 (week 3).
Do you mean round 3?
In round 2 we play St Kilda and Lions play WCE.
He probably did say round 3.
I always hate flying when it's very windy especially landing when you see the wings of the plane at akward angles metres from the tarmacThanks - that seems the logical choice since Cats and Lions both have the bye, and the Gabba is available.
Am hoping this is made official tomorrow before Geelong players and staff try to fly into a cyclone zone...
Saturday night would make the most sense but only if Fox can relax their exclusive Saturdays for one week due to extraordinary unforeseen circumstances. So if it’s round 3 (even though it should be postponed to this Sunday) are we thinking Saturday night or a 6:10pm Sunday.
Clearly the game should be shifted to KP.
If not, Geelong are happy for Brisbane to forfeit due to being unable to provide safe playing conditions.
I'm sure Uncle Steve has it all in hand.
Such an entitled supporter base.. the Veruca Salt of the AFL! I want it now daddy!!Shift the game to KP and we'll still keep the round 15 clash at KP too. We are doing Brisbane a favour here. Move or forfeit.
