Well, I can't speak for GC but I live a KM from the Gabba and Thursday night's game could've easily gone ahead of the government didn't panic.

Still, better safe than sorry I guess.

Hope those who stripped the shelves of toilet paper got through it ok.

But its not just the game conditions. You have officials and caterers and technicians etc let alone general spectators who couldnt necessarily get there or who had other things on their mind.
Anyway. Its a good thing the millions on the big city didnt get smashed for sure.

I get it. I just knew it would pretty much die in the arse the second it hit the major islands, just like it did.

I'm no meteorologist but I've been through a few cyclones much worse than this one and the same thing happened every time. Was in the Whitsundays when a cat 5 hit once and it downgraded to a cat 3 when it hit Airlie beach and was dead by the time it reached Proserpine, only a few kms inland.

The rain will be the issue now though and the GC game was absolutely correct in being canceled.

I'm not saying they shouldn't have canceled the Brisbane game, but there was barely any wind until last night and little to no rain.

As you said though, it depends where people working come from. Wouldn't have wanted to live out in the Redlands and had to go to work at the Gabba.

The cyclone is taking so long to get there it's starting to look like rescheduling to round three might not be long enough....

(I'm glad I don't live in Brisbane, the dread of waiting would be killing me)

Given that Essendon and the Gold Coast's fixtures don't align very well this year, I take it that they will be playing the cancelled opening round match in bye week prior to the finals? Imagine if one of the Elimination Finals this year then turns out to be Gold Coast vs. Essendon!

Which post in that thread do you want me to look at? Is it this one?
#95 shit for brains
The webp attachment.
At time didnt realise i knew the family but since found out who they are and our kids went to school together

Millions got lucky
But hundreds maybe thousands if you count what is still to come (particularly in northern nsw ) did not

Just remember where the attitude started mate. "Tell that to the ..."

The webp picture you referred me to shows the corner of a house and the roof damaged by a fallen tree. What street is this on?

Street? I know people who live not too far away from Currumbin Valley. Also in the top right of the first photo is another building with a water tank connected. Granny flat?
Call your people who live nearby then
Im sure they will also say it wasnt a non event.

The media want hollywood and blood and armageddon and “if it bleeds it leads” and hyped it up no doubt.
Doesnt mean it was a non event.
As i said it could have been worse no doubt with millions in firing line. Thankful it wasnt but it still affected people and property.

So your claim you farted bigger winds was out of line. Your media beat up claim was correct though. But any disaster or potential disaster will always be a beat up for clicks

They might tell me the garage was left intact though meaning the car is actually OK which is probably why you won't give out the street. It would conflict with your original rhetoric about how these "poor bastards" you know lost all their possessions and their car.

You think my comment about the strength of the wind was out of line but I should let you know I've been through a Category 5 in Port Hedland. A completely different beast.

Anyway I wonder whose comment your friends in CV will think was more out of line? Mine or the comment you made here on the same day you told us about their sad loss.

Im. So. Bored.

:$

BTW, do they know you sent your photos to the media?
