Thanks Dean. Well as i pop my first panadol i thought i'd have a quick go on here. My only disappointment for the day was the mark i dropped in the third quarter. I was a certainty to snag it from there.
The game was a beauty, the conditions made skills difficult and with the hard ground the ball bounced all over the place. Some of our penetration with our kicking, run and movement into the wind was one of the differences along with our defence which has been incredible all year. Our pressure on the ball carrier was also a feature
Personally i thought i was going to have a heart attack yesterday and that was on the way to the ground, i felt 20 years older (that is close to death). Can't quite explain that emotion and lack of control, but I'm still here up to today.
Well done to all at Ruppppo and well done to Fitzroy in a game the VAFA would have been proud of an St Bernies would have raked in a fortune.

Geez you're an early riser KB... I believe the marking attempt was caught on camera ! Great win for the boys yesterday and the celebrations will go on and on for some considerable time. Congratulations to the Fitzroy boys and supporters who were terrific and carried themselves with dignity and respect during and after the game. I look forward to both sides being a force in the ammos for years to come. Best hit the shower now, as it's back to the club for a froffy or two. Lemms out......

Parkdale, Ormond, Fitzroy and Beaumaris are suburban.
Old Camberwell, Old Geelong, Caulfield, Rupertswood (Salesian College Sunbury) and Mazenod are old schoolboys.
AJAX are a combination/cultural entity I guess.

Scribe, small correction - the Rupo use college facilities and have a naming association with the colege, but are a long way from an old schoolboys network. Believe the Rupo are working towards creating one, but they are not there yet. Word around the traps is the club would love an oldboys network, but also want to retain the suburban/region flavour to attract blokes from around the area who prefer the ammos over other choices...;)

Saw the game Sat, and have to say well done to both both Rupo and Roys players AND supporters. Big crowd, great atmosphere and IMO a showcase event for the ammos. Well done to all and congrats to the Rupo.

As a momentary lifting of the haze that surrounds my brain after 36 hours of celebrating, I would like to congratulate you Scribe and all at your club on a terrific year and as Lemms said, for all the grace and dignity with which you handled yourselves after the game. Rest assured, all at Rupo have the greatest respect for the Roy Boys.

On a day that would have seen the Sydney to Hobart finish in Brisbane, both sides put on a spectacle befitting the biggest game of the year. A war of attrition and skill that showcased the incredible standard of D1 footy.

To our boys, well, what a day and what a year. Our 3 new Coaches Gav, Sac and Spook set the tone back in November and the players delivered big time. Mad Monday is upon us and it promises to be a very enjoyable and entertaining day.

For all those we leave behind in D1, good luck for 2010 and for the Rupi and the Roys, bring on C Section. Cheers

Well done to Rupo the best team all year and deserved winners of the GF. The Roy Boys never gave up and well done to them! Good luck to both teams in C grade next year, will miss playing against both clubs!!

Congratulations to Rupertswood who were worthy winners on Saturday. The way they used the ball in difficult conditions was excellent and will no doubt have them well placed in C-Grade next year.

All going well, Staurday's Grand Final will be but the first chapter of a rivalry that will continue over the ages and up the grades.

We will be looking forward to many more great games against the Roys. Great lunch prior to the game enjoyed by both clubs and a fantastic game in trying conditions. You can tell the quality of a club by the way it conducts itself in the disappointment of a grand final loss. Fitzroy were all class as were their supporters. Your sportsmanship did not go unnoticed.

Mad Monday:
BOG: Ryan Hatty with Direct links to Cory McKernan for tips throughout the day. Many winners aligned with a growing midriff as the day rolled on.
2Votes: Kirk Stevens aka Eric Dressler, an amazing commitment to character
1 Vote: Ben "Bluey" Brennan, in retrospect definitely gets the three votes, so this is typical of voting: mostly arse about, Benny clearly BOG on reflection.

Honorable Mentions:
D Collins: doesn't drink and is the most admired person at Ruppppo, has looked after me numerous times, and his missus is magnificent: Thanks DC
D McGovern as something from Alice in Wonderland in a tiger/bear suit
M MCPhee just incredibly colorful supplying all costumes
Bangers as " i just blanked my mind as a father" and just had another pot. He is a ripper
Gags as everyone envied his partner, threw up everywhere from dehydration and i also cuddled him as an unabashed parent protecting every step he makes. Very proud
Finally JJ Plummer who i love like a son, in the true Plummer character considers himself just a player, well everyone knows different.
As i have a red "gallows cab sav merlot" i humbly thank all at Rupppo for the year and salute the Tony Wests and the Shane McGluaghlins (that is not spelt right) who have led the club and salute Gav Kerr and the coaching staff on bringing home our premiership.

Congrats to Rupo, a deserved win from a team we at the Friars greatly respect on and off the field. Also congrats to Fitzroy on a sensational year. Showed great spirit to beat off the rest of the pack for the finals and made every post a winner in the finals. Best part of the Ammos is you can go down in a GF but still walk away winners and that Fitzroy deserve.

Great to see Brendan Stafford win the B&F for the section, a great young bloke at our club who will continue to improve. At the Friars (regardless of what a vocal minority of supporters may say) we look forward to 2010 and a chance to build on what we achieved this year.

For those remaining in D1 for 2010 it will be a year of racking up the frequent flyer points as we traverse every part of the "greater" metropolitan area. Looking forward to it already.

Westy, just wondering if it was a mistake that the league invited Andrew Taylor to the league B&F last night instead of Aaron? Surely its a massive mistake.

cant be a mistake, they have different numbers. Contrats to him on finishing second. well deserved from what i have seen.
if it is the correct taylor, then my question is why would the coach drop him from such an important finals game? it will be interesting to find out if Andrew polls well in the club b&f

Maybe you should ring Werribee's coach and find out. The captain and dual b&f winner was also dropped.

Like the brownlow medal, it's only umpires votes anyway. They are considered "maggots" until they give their opinion on the best player.

I'm sure he will poll accordinly at the club b&f.

Interested to see Brad Norton from OM's come third in the league b&f. He won the club b&f last year as a 19 year old and was named club captain at the start of this year.

As a OMFC supporter, it pains me to see the effort he puts in for his club and the lack of effort coming from the rest of the playing group.

Also interested to see he has never received a rising star nomination. This however may fall under the category that if you don't play in A or B section, the VAFA don't consider you to be a good player

Correct me if I'm wrong. but didnt Trent Lee from Werribee win this award last year?
Yes he did. We had 6 u19 play regularly in the seniors, and two very well, and not get nominated and we are in B grade- i think the club has to suggest them to someone at the VAFA.

believe your right there akka.

I think it helped that Trent starred in rep games, which drew attention to him.

Otherwise VAFA usually do not take interest from B Section down.
