Now i can sense an air of excitement about our famous scribe. As we are both openly excited what about a 6 pack on the result. I will happily pass over as Jack did some very cold ones (we have a great fridge) if the roy boys take the points tomorrow.

Thanks KB - we're on.

Would prefer to put a 6-pack of Fat Yaks (our boutique brew of choice at Brunswick St) as opposed to the trusty old Blondes! Will sort it out once we come off the ground at 4.45pm.

Cheers

KB is right, South will hit back hard but Aquinas at single mum central are a tough assignment

Single Mum Central : this raises many possibilities, it worries me a bit as our young brigade who are mostly single have an eye for the girls, i hope they don't run the canteen or run water, that could put us off.
Kingbrown that was a crap line when Harps said it, don't make yourself sound like a goose as well.Harps at least we don't have the old muppets sitting up on the balcony abusing opposition teams, check them out next time your at Lindsay Hackett Kingbrown.

Word is Fitzroy are pretty good with some exceptional recruits. Now i can sense an air of excitement about our famous scribe. As we are both openly excited what about a 6 pack on the result. I will happily pass over as Jack did some very cold ones (we have a great fridge) if the roy boys take the points tomorrow. Jack's beers whilst not real cold (the friars fridge needs turning up) tasted fantastic as i trekked to Ettttttihard to watch the sainters against the hapless freo lads.

Well done to the great man "sangers" on his 150th, a man who has true "fabric". Has been there every minute of our existence and represented our club brillliantly over our 10 years. Well done mate, i hope the boys bring the 4 points home in your milestone.

I have finally surfaced after our towelling last week at the hands of a very sharp Rupo unit, step back to Friar Park 2007 it was a replay. They were slick, accurate and talented. Number 8 was like watching Gilly bat everything right out of the screws!!!

KB no mystery if you had have looked out of the Friar social rooms at 5.43pm I was the lone bloke on Friar Hill with the bottle of red and head in his hands. Hope you enjoyed the beers although not quite chilled correctly. Couldn't bring myself to purchasing Blondes, like the thought of Scribes Yaks though.

Note the Bees big win and I can hardly wait until they play Rupo to get a real handle on where they are at. After watching a lot of ammo footy I think Rupo will take some beating.

Big effort at Friar Park tomorrow with Diggers and trumpeters playing last post, a great tribute to those men who gave their all so we can live our lives the way we do, lets all remember them!!

Friars (with some important ins) to bounce back over NOBS by a massive 1 point!
Rupo over Reds (just) Rd 2 can be a let down so anything could happen.
Aquinas to prevail, like what I am hearing about their youth.
ESL easily over an aged Prahan
Bees to win on the road against OM.

Good luck to all teams, remember the big picture and thank our lucky stars.

It was meant to be light hearted, no offence meant. I apologise.

Marcou, if one 80 year old woman is enough to put you off your game then I think you chose the wrong sport, sport. Better take some ear plugs when you travel to Rupertswood, Fitzroy and don't even contemplate ever going to Werribee.

Best of luck today, I trust you won't be up on the hill abuseing any Districts players but instead racking up the stats on the park, have a good one.

4/5 a good start - nobs a complete turn around from preseason form - well done,

The rupie trian to roll on agaist the royboys - 8 pts

Bees - to quick for the oms - 33pts

friars are good side, they won't drop 2 in a row at home and will get over the nobs - 13pts

Two blues will open their account with a hard fought win against the st Leos - 21pts

Sth Melbourne would want to turn it around or it really could be a long year - Sth by 18pts

Great day with lots of History, lets all give this day the respect is deserves,

:D The benefits of pushing 16 year olds into the senior team is paying dividends at Rupo. Add the players who missed last year through injury and s it any wonder they belted Fitzroy today. Rupo jumped out of the trenches and stuck it right up em.
Beware when you travel to the hell hole at the ghetto

As the great man scribe passed on the 6 pack of blondes he insisted 1 went to the umpire of the day. Being very apprehensive considering the events of the day i begrudgingly wilted, turned out he's not a bad fello, perhaps i see it very one eyed!!!!

The roy boys are ok, i doubt they would be happy, but both sides probably would look for improvement on today.

I have no doubt given the first two weeks if we slack off we will pay, D1 is a serious comp.

Werribbeeeeeeeeeeeeeees turnaround is puzzzzzzzling to say the least, Well done to all sides winnnnnnning the four points today.

Especially the boys at Aquinas, 2/2 aint bad.

Go Ruppppppppo!!!!

Apologiies to the roy boys, we did all see goal of the year in 2009, coming off half back after a missed high tackle on one of our younger boys, Fraser ran with the ball and completed a goal that bounced through Warney style from 70mtrs out, everyone applauded simultaneuosly in awe of the passion and commitment to the task.

In all honesty we had a laugh after the game, and it shows that footy is special to us all, no one reading this would think otherwise.

Enjoy, Enjoy!!!!

KB, possibly over did the beers tonight

I say "so whaT"

Aquinas had a good win today against Sth Melb, an 8 goal first term setting up the win.No standouts for the bloods just a very good team win.Harps just giving a bit back no harm intended.

Message to the Quill... Can you please stop putting that photo of Matthews in the D1 section of the VAFA record. His kids have now been exposed to it twice in 2 weeks and are beginning to question his courage and manliness.....

Thanks Ugly

Memo to D1.

Our suspicions have been confirmed.

The 2009 version of Rupo is strikingly similar to the 2007 vintage which went within a kick of B section. As discussed with Mick (aka kingbrown) and the Rupo brainstrust after the game, the combination of player departures (overseas and to VFL) and huge injuries cruelled the Woodsmen's 2008 campaign. Now they're back and boasting a line-up which would give C section a shake.

Accordingly, whilst the Roys were able to trim the margin by 4 goals from the 2007 disaster at Sunbury, with our skipper Jimmy O'Reilly bringing Leigh Brennan's output back to a miserly 3 goals, we couldn't shut down the running machine on their home patch. The game was played fairly and squarely in the Rupo half, with our forwards regularly competing as 4 against 6 or 7, such is the discipline of the home-team's half backline.

I know it's early days, and plenty can happen in the next 4 months, but I'll run a nude lap of Elsternwick Park if Rupertswood do not finish top 2 at the end of the regular season.

PS - KB, a remarkably accurate assessment indeed! I'm impressed. :D

Didnt take me long to get sven his moneys worth.
Gee wiz the puppet had some great celebrations in store for the boys last night!!

C'mon Frase, nobody needs to be subjected to that !!

And.... can you please give your dad his shorts back. Please explain the Daniel Harford 'big shorts'.

Well Lemms, provided Rupo finish top 2, then there will be no need to disclose the reason why my shorts are so big. Pretty self explanatory really. ;)

Well Royboys you copped a serve of what we got round 1. They are an impressive group, correct about numbers at half back they really peel off their players well! But lets not forget that 2007 and early incantations of the Woodsmen has seen them come undone at the end of the year!!

A win for the hooded ones yesterday over NOBS was well received by a vocal Friar crowd. Some very good perfomances but Brosolo from half back with 4 goals was outstanding!!

Aquinas may be the sleepers with their young and gallant crew taking all before them, well done Bloods.

KB glad to hear that too many beers were pocketed on Saturday night I like your passion for it!! The Hullaballoo is back at Rupo good luck to however crosses their path on Saturday.

Weribee have gone form Killer Bees to bumble bees will be interesting to see their progress from here.

D1 seems very even and will be a terrific year ahead (as long as the Friars keep winning)

If any more incentive were required for an upset victory, look no further than the Royboys desire to mark the passing of the 100th game in the red, yellow and blue by one of BF's favorite sons, Damian "Mappa" Hannam. Despite no mention of it in this week's Amateur Footballer (I think we wanted to make sure he got to the ground and played the game first before marking the occasion), hopefully next week's milestone will be written on the back of a resounding victory for this former Salesian Sunbury Collegian. A regular goal-kicking machine, website administrator, club committee doyen and social commentator, Mappa's contribution to Fitzroy in the past 7 or 8 is difficult to summarise in a mere paragraph or two. He's also an example of how players can re-invent themselves in the latter stage of their careers (Harper take note).

Congratulations Mappa, and here's hoping we can bring home the bacon in both games for ya.

Cheers

Frase

Thanks for the advice Frase, after being towelled up by the St Mary's full forward I followed your advice and moved myself to FF and eventually impacted in the positive to the Red and White. Doesn't count though as it was only a practice match!

Well done to Mappa for his ton! While his heart may pump red, blue and yellow blood he still finds a bit of time for a certain south suburban club and they love him for it. 6 goals in his 100th is a great reward for a great bloke, well done Damian.

OM showed us how to play disciplined, smart accountable football and well deserved the win. They really do play their ground well. We played the exact opposite. That was probably due to the pressure OM applied. Some home truths were discussed after the game and I'm sure that we won't put in a performance like that again. Good thing about footy is that there's always next week!!

we'll know if they're the real deal after they take on werribee round 4 and rupertswood round 6.....

Hey Westy! Is it a case of no Itsa, no Werribee???

very quite out werribee way, normal practise would see the werribee boys all over this board, oh well maybe a big footy ban after a loss ? coack kirk would not be happy, pretty sure they will bounce back in a big way ( they do have the two blues this week i think ) and all will be forgiven,

bees by 72 pts this week,

bees by 72 pts this week,

It has been rather quiet on the Werribee front. I have been led to believe that it may have been a little to hard in close for the small bodies of the Werribee brigade.
