What the hell happened in D1 this year with all the rumours about so many coaches getting the chop?
Things don't seem to be so rosy. But I must admit we did sack 2 coaches in two years. Oh well bring on next year.
Harps any chance of you coaching next year? YOU ARE the last coach to defeat the all conquering Werribee 2's!:D

G'day Westy, nope, not coaching, the president sacked me.

Congratulations to Paul Florance and Sebastian Mahoney on sharing the D1 Best and Fairest medal last night, fantastic players winning by 1 vote over Meighan and Keem.
 
i expect old mentonains to be a force next season after sending coach magee packingl. i believe he wasted alot of resources last year. fellas any ideas on who could be taking over in 09 i heard a few whispers like david bardoel and the current reserves coach can anyone share any light.

bazza can you just shut up. there is no chance of either of your whispers.

and i have been a massive critic of magee. but he didnt waste resources. he acutally was very organised and cared a lot about the club, its a pity he had no football knowledge, and magee is leaving on his own because he feels he has let club down by not getting it into C Grade this year (I know this for a fact after having a phone convo with him).

so baz, post something that is interesting or just go away. pick one.

Really its very hard to jugde what Magee did with the squad. The team before 2 years go was totally different. So you can't really judge the team on the Russo era. Magee's time at the club will be better jugde in years to come when a new coach comes in and see's what he can do with this so called "talented young list".

Me, I have my doubts on the list. And as a supporter I would be hoping we started to recuit players. Did you know in the last two years the club has only recuited two new players. Both who are staff at the school. Yes we had a lot of U/19's come into the club but as for the Senior side 2 new players over 2 years is no where near enough.

Very organised - are you kidding? very disorganised...
Had no football knowledge - also disagree. one thing he had going for him was football knowledge.

What part of his football knowledge did he have going for him?
I can run off a list of things he couldn't do.
-Match ups
-Tactics
-Reading the game (when make moves etc)
-Control the tempo of the game. (One pace. Flat out)

I can also list how he was very organised:
-Knew the opposition
-Always had lots of notes / information (most of time not relevent)

The most important part of coaching Magee had no interpersonal skills. He couldn't relate to all of his players.

Like the many rumours from higher grades that amount to nothing I wouldn't get too excited about avoiding the trip down to Mt Eliza next year. Although it would explain how they managed to entice guys from the Mornington Peninsula league.

On OMs outgoing coach - who gives the sh*t. The blokes gone. One things for sure, I reckon the side is overrated. BT and OG were better on paper and on the park.

If we have a coach that can actually put players in the right positions and pick the correct team for finals i think we match up with most teams. There is a lot of talent in the squad. (If they stay together after two years of failure).

Not a fan of McGee are you panther man? What happened? Did you get dropped for the finals?

Believe a refund is in order if Peninsula were paying players.

McGee's tactics were ok but suspect his personality did not fit with the private school boys club. Its about time some of the players at OM took some responsibility for their finals capitulation, rather than a public hanging of their former coach. A gagging order for Bazza would be a great start for 2009 campaign

The problem is guys how can a team players play when they are in the wrong positions on the ground? It makes it very hard for a player. I know when I played (many many years ago) it was hard for a back pocket player to play full forward and so on....

Ok, not every player is going to get on with the coach, big deal, get over it.

How about giving the guy & your friggin committee that appointed him some respect. Or be real men and take your comments to the committee and discuss face to fac ya weak pr*cks. Another thing you could do is stand up and do the job yourself.

The more you guys dump on him the less chance you will get any coach wanting to take on a bunch of wet whinges.

Half your side was made up of guys coming from other clubs because they didn't get on with their previous club coach. Your just a hive for disgruntled grumpy has-beens. eg C.Graham, D.Teasdale
