Firstly, I don't recall saying it " means nothing". I was merely pointing out that you could equally show where lots of pre christmas didnt help a side just as you tried to show where it allegedly did.

To compare AFL, TAC etc to D1 ammos is plain stupid. Yes I agree that their pre-season helped them get to 10-0 but so what? It didnt help them when it mattered.

Agreed, while fitness is important to some degree, it comes down to who has the best players on the paddock in September. While there are some fitness freaks out there, most players end up at a similar level and it comes down to whether you can get your hands on the pill and put it through the big sticks.

I look forward to eating a stack of food and drinking a shitload of booze over the next 2-3 weeks and undoing all the "good" work I've done on the track in the last few weeks.

Some handy players IKOABD but I wouldn't be to excited about Cronan, you'd be better off without him, likes to play for himself.

yeah he is useless, selfish etc

but that post wasnt me. a well known clown from this forum who just happens to know my password and likes to talk shit.

anyway, pre xmas training was enjoyable and well attended nonetheless down at clarke shield's pavillion, the highlight being when stingray got hit for six by the aforemention selfish forward pocket in a genuine game of cricket held on the last night...

Saw Crohan first hand last year and he goes OK, but I hear the SMD crew will be stronger (despite the loss of the shock equal comp B&F) which is only good for the VAFA.

Not much news elsewhere save for the addition of a couple of experienced heads (Hayes & Kinsella) at Pantherland, hopefully to counterbalance the immaturity of Snips et al.

Good to hear the Aquinas numbers pre-Xmas were strong, so keep them safe. Unfortunately I fear Prahran will struggle again, especially with Greenham stepping down from coaching. Huge loss as a player and coach. Hard to see where their improvement will come from.

Rupo are bound to bounce back strong, I can't see them missing the finals unless a massive injury toll repeats itself.

No idea about NOBSPC, Werribee, Reds (sorry Fitzroy), or Friars. Anyone care to contribute? Cameo? Mappa? Scribe? Jack Mihocek?

Hi all, been a while between posts but looking forward to the thread firing up soon. Anyone from Werribee want to confirm that the Pelars from Spotty have signed? Also here that Trav Ryan may get re rego'd by football Vic.

No confirmation at this stage on all fronts. Discussions have been had about the Pelars, but we will find out more when training resumes.

Love to be able to say that 3 - 4 key forwards / defenders have just walked in off the street Grum, but I'd be lying. Training pre-Christmas was reasonably well attended, with a mix of new and old. Encouraging to see a handy number of Unders pulling on the Dunlop KT 26s for the running work too.

Not much else to report though, but I'm sure we are not the only club in that boat.

NQR, did I hear correctly that your preseason last year may have helped you earn a little bit of personal silverware at the colts presentation night?
haha yeah added a liil bit of silver but i'd give them both back for a premiership medallion that i could share with the boys

Sunshine Heights, WRFL Division 1 (first year in Div 1) are looking for a practice match on either the 21st or 28th of March against any D1 or D2 side. If any side is interested please PM me.

Getting towards late Jan, just wondering how the grounds are progressing. Drove past Brunswick St the other day, looked a little parched.
Rupo # 1 is looking a treat on the recycled water, however the # 2 oval is a bit shabby.

long time between posts been o/s on business! can any one tell me is it true that david teasedale has got stress fracture of the foot ans how long will he be in the moon boot for! hopefully he will be able tyo resume training soon age is not on his side and he needs a full pre season!

Ya chaps - I saw some photos of Brunswick Street whilst surfing the net back here in Durban, and it looks like the Mumbai dustbowl we had to play the Twenty20 on last year.

Heard on the vine that Prahran might as well book their place in D2 for 2010, whilst Werribee are flying (NB: openly touting for PMs against C section sides - the arrogance!!!) and St Leo's have recruited strongly. A bit hard to keep the broken fingers on the pulse from 12,000kms away, but I'm bored with my rehab, and need something to occupy my mind.

Cheers

Grum Smuth

always better to test yourself against sides in higher levels, all be it a practise match, they will however be a team to watch, young, quick, and comming off a fairly easy 2008,

It's a pity they will run into a ruperstwood side very, very simular to 2007 in which they missed " B " grade by 4pts, alot of players back and with a new coach, D1 could be a much more enjoyable year for the ads on the hill out at sunbury,

This board should to start to warm up with most pre seasons starting this week, if not all ready,

should be a ripping 2009.

Apparentley young teasdale will miss the first round due to impaired vision due to some serious complications due to a large puss filled pimple that has covered his right eye. It still doesnt give him an excuse about the dirtys he has been seen bringing home!
All the best in 2009 David!

ps who would of thought they had the internet in Vietnam!

Seems to me the injection of Old Mentonian in-jokes has seen this thread grind to a halt.

I can't understand why the Panthers are so hell bent on becoming like the Aussie Old Boys Cricket side with an average age above the compulsory retirement level.

Won't be too long before they're overrun with old and fading war horses who are past their prime, want to drop down a few grades and relive their glory days.

First Teasdale, now Kinsella - where is this going to end?

I saw their 2007 unit which just fell short of C section against Oakleigh, and it was young, vibrant and full of promise. Fast forward 2 seasons and now they're recruiting 34 year-olds to keep the young lads from developing properly.

Mickey Arthur wouldn't have any of this, just witness the rapid development this summer of J.P. Duminy and Albie Morkel chaps. That's how you build a successful dynasty.

Cheers

Grum
