I am going to stcik with 26 this year. Have worn the number for 4 years and have 3 flags so I think good idea to stay the same. I was trying to get back to the number 6 but thats already taken.

We going to see you down this year?

I will be there round 1

Heard a rumour that big Andrew Alabakis will be making a return to the training track on Tuesday after being in a good paddock over the Christmas period. Should significantly boost the ruck stocks down at tigerland

Welcome Moose. It would be interesting seeing the spider on the track again. Have you heard how his skills are going? And is it true he has been spending some time down at a special pub in Yarraville the past few months?;)

Aquinas had a practice match on the weekend against Forest Hill, with plenty of new faces taking the field the coaching staff walked away happy at what they saw,the result a slender margin to the Bloods.

Friars had their first hit out last weekend in Adelaide against Blackfriars and had a solid win! They have had big numbers at training and a couple of strong recruits from EFL so should be pretty competitive for the season.

Rupppo got overtheline by 4 pts against Mazenod today at home. Only report is Rupppo have alot of exciting youngsters, (as per normal), we should be OK, certainly not getting carried away. Mazenod is a great club, thanks for making the time to play today. Good luck in2009!

KB impressive Practice Match win over the Nodders who are always super competitive! Looking forward to the first round at Friar Park with lunch and the first time for over a year that the boys will be back at home!

good hit out for the werribee boys yesterday with caulfield running away with it in the last quarter. despite having half a dozen quality players missing, our boys were super competitive up until 3 quarter time against a side with a very talented midfield. good signs for the poo farmers

Who looked good Panda?

Who was missing?

Reds had a good hitout against MHSOB last Friday night. Many. Many new players turned out, so the game was a bit scrappy, as the coaches tried to get a look at who they could. Attack on the footy was pleasing though and the Reds took it right up to their C grade opponents and might have even won by a goal or two. It was a classic trial match where there was no scoreboard and not even any goal umpires.

Cheers to Lloyd (Reds stalwart umpire) and Jason Evans for officiating the game.

Still awaiting confirmation of the next match, which is likely to be against the Fitzroy Stars on Saturday at Ramsden Street in Clifton Hill. There are no goal posts as yet, but if the council can find it within themselves to allow sport to actually be played on a sports ground, then we will be good to go.

Many making the trip down to ballarat for NOBSPC v Ruppo.

Many new kids and kids from last year be playing seniors down at NOBS?
Not sure about kids, but a guy by the name of Nick Evans from the Reds will be a very handy recruit. Can kick the ball a mile, great hands and is capable of doing the un-do-able. NOBs gain is definitely the Reds loss.

what was the reason behind the move Mappa?

Gee you will know where your backline stands after a trial v Fitzroy Stars Mappa. I know its only a praccy and results are not important...but fair task, they are a good unit.

Might get the City Of Yarra to leave the goal posts out then hey :D

C. Lee,Fastucca,Murphy,Tedesco,Morrish,McCutcheon as far as I can recall

I'd say that Lee, Murphy and Tedesco will definitely play, Morrish apparently struggled a bit so might need another run in the 2's while there is a small injury cloud over the others.

Altona this week should make for an interesting game. Not much chop about the Vikings this year even with the signing of Liston Medalist Anthony Eames as coach.

Will be interested to see where the coach plays the younger Pelar this week. From all reports he can play a bit, but i hear he was very wasted playing deep in defense against caufield.

Wrong Morrish. Tim played on Saturday in 2's. Podgey did not play and will probably play this week. Coach just trying things with the Pelar boys to see where they will be the most effective for the team. Can use the ball when they get their hands on it.

I had a look at Werribe v Caulfield on Sat. The Pelar boys look okay, but I think Werribee will find it very hard to cover the losses they suffered since last year. Daniel Lee, Matty Antonello are both not playing this year, and Trent Lee has signed at Willy. They are some pretty hard players to cover for. Anotonello and T. Lee were probably Werribee's two best last year. It will be interesting to see how they fare without them.

Antonello and T Lee cannot be replaced as they can only replace themselves. All footy sides lose players and pick up others every year. It's how you structure your team with the players you have. Knowing the coaching staff, they will be able to put a team together that will function as 1 unit. There are some players that have stepped up so far this early in the season. Come down Saturday and see who I mean.

Westy sounds like the Bees are going to be a real handful this year, plenty of chatter on this forum anyway!!!!! Don't worry about anyone else except for Rupo they have a quality team only thing for them may be the change in coach after having someone in charge for so long!! Plus the Friar will be out to get them rd 1 they owe them big time from 2 years ago and haven't forgotten the way they were belted at Friar Park!! Plenty of noise from NOBS but a horrible culture of losing important finals, they will be ok through the year and as long as their coach doesn't pursue golfing opportunities in the UK this year they should be there and about. Don't know much about anyone else except for Aquinas who I believe have lost some very key players for they year ahead!!

Can hardly wait for the lunch at Friar Park Rd 1, KB happy to wager 6 stubs of Blonde/Coopers Green for the game available after proceedings finish - let me know.

Ladder after Rd 18

Rupo
NOBS
Weribee
Friars

OM
SMD
Slewp
Reds
Prahan
Aquinas

After that who knows!!

Rupo played NOBS at St Pats College, no scoreboard, not much in it, possibly Rupo at the end. Can't take too much out of the game other than it was a good hit out played in a great spirit.
Rupo are up and about, we look like being competitive, mind you we thought that last year.

What a place Ballarat is, it is close to heaven IMO. The history of that place is amazing. The AMMOS should encourage sides from Geelong, Ballarat, and Bendigo to join. Mind you Ballarat is very cold in winter.

It was a good hitout, but i think you may be a bit wrong on the scoreboard front; rupo would have won by at least 15 goals. Mind you, Nobs had a lot of numbers out so i wouldnt take too much out of it. Very small, but incredibly fit, young and well drilled side are Rupertswood.
