Interesting TT...not sure what your definition of spruiking is??? Needless to say I think you're off the mark if you believe we've been carrying on about our recruits, chances etc etc??? If reporting on our own website to our members what we have done over the summer to try and improve the club is labelled 'spruiking' by one Werribee fella, then clearly we make no apologies...

As for the hype...well, I guess it's decision to get sucked into the make believe of others, so be it...I actually would have thought that given the annual crap that gets bandied around Werribee you would know better than to believe most of the stuff.

It's usually me spruiking the stuff. Haha. Still sensitive out ringwood way.....

I am only going on the constant messages posted on here about the efl guns that were recruited. As we all know, the efl
is a good quality comp. So the hype is probably warrented, result perhaps extremely disappointing.

No need to get your knickers in a twist, it's only round one.....

Trevor's Tips

With a success rate of 100% it can only get worse, but courage I do not lack:

Willy v Aquinas - Willy ressies might get up but after a disappointing trip to Mentone in Round 1 I am tipping a little more pain for the D2 premiers. I think Aquinas are around the mark, so it will be impressive if Willy can use the home ground advantage to get the jump. If Aquinas get in front early - look out!

Monash v NOBs - Going for Monash at home (they might know where the goal posts are there) but this game will draw a lot of interest given both clubs seem to have long lists and both their reserves teams had big wins in Round 1.

SMD v Werribee - This could get very ugly

Peninsula v Old Mentone - This is harder as both teams had very impressive wins in their own ways in Round 1. I am going Pirates in another nailbiter.

Bulleen Temp v Whitefriars - From the scores either Werribee were very good or BT were very bad, or both, in Round 1, so I'm going with the Friars who must be better after a disappointment first up.

The amount of scoring shots they had compared to Aquinas (who are a 5 goal better side at home) is enough evidence for me to hop off the bandwagon!

This is no disrespect to Monash. This is about Aquinas spruiking thier recruits and announcing themselves on this forum & then falling flat on thier face. Im sure Monash can play, becasue if Aquinas have improved on last year, they should be a decent team.
As you said TT its only round 1 theres no need to panic, wasn't the start we were hoping for though.Getting back to the spruiking I think you will find it was the friar boys and the scribe that was talking up our recruits not us, where not that silly. The last team to spruik was you guys and we all know what happened there (STRAIGHT SETS), pays not to spruik.

I did it the year before, worked well then. 1/2 is still a pass mark!

People need to realise too. I have said it a few times. But im not Part of the Werribee Ammos, Im just a serial pest that gets on the site and hangs a bit, and goes and has a look on the weekends and hangs a bit. I think Serial pest best describes me.

I have no innersanctum knowledge and therefore my opinions and comments are about as validated as those from the Friar boys about you guys.....

About time to join the fray. Missed putting tips in last week due to work travel. Tips for this week.

WILLY Vs Aquinas - Hard game to tip. Aquinas much better team at home, Willy a very good team at home. Both teams probably looking to validate themselves after somewhat flat starts. Williamstown to bounce back at home with a win by 24, game to be close with the final margin to be bigger than game would suggest due to some junk time goals.

MONASH Vs Nobs - Monash at home rectifying their goal kicking woes in emphatic fassion, NOB's not appreciating playing away and early in the season not starting with enough intensity away. MONASH to win by 20 in a lead set up from the outset of the game.

South Melb Dist Vs WERRIBEE - Home ground for SMD may somewhat stem the damage in the early part of the game, but Werribee too strong and classy, expect Werribee to win every position on the ground. Final score to be 101 pts with Werribee's inaccuracy on goal preventing a more demoralising loss for SMD.

Peninsula Vs OM's - Peninsula are good at home but OM's defeated Willy comfortably last week and logic would suggest that the pirates are around the same level as Willy. Happy to be proven wrong but im thinking a slightly smaller margin due to the travel down the Nepean. OM's by 45 winning each quarter by a couple of goals.

BT - WHITEFRIARS - Whitefriars to win by a solitary point due to a controversial decision late in the game. Both teams looking to come out and respond to last weeks results. Could be a feisty affair with more fall out than an Icelandic Volcano.

Seebreeze your a nob, who does appreciate playing away from home and if being up by 10 goals at half time isn't intensity at the start then nothing is!

Thanks for your critical appraisal FootyChief, outstanding comment.

Just for the record the tips are for the week coming, and my thought was that NOB's will miss the jump this week at Monash due to the travel. Some teams travel better than others and i think that early in the season teams often struggle at the start of away games.

Last week has gone, done and dusted, this week is a new challenge.

I enjoyed your detailed predictions Seabreeze - have also heard that Carl Williams needs to take care as his popularity in jail is waning -apparently he is a 'nob'

...the jokes are flowing already Trevor...."I heard Carl Williams asked for a rowing machine for the yard, as the exercise bike is doing his head in"!! (boom boom)

Monash by 60pts-This will show the bloods effort last week wasn't to bad.
Peninsula by 18pts-Mentone will struggle away.
Aquinas by 30pts-The bigger ground will suit the bloods.
Werribee by 30pts-Sth Melb a lot better at home.
Whitefriars by 12pts-B/T would want to get close or it could be a long year.

Just got back to earth after numbing the pain of watching the Friars go down in their first game, looked like they had a hangover as bad as mine for half the game!! Anyway after hearing plenty about how well we were going to do I think the Friar faithful left looking for answers from the coach and playing troops.

Anyway they had better get going against the Bullants who no doubt have a massive point to prove, round 2 is a beauty for 2 teams that have lost in their opening games. Come on boys stick it up em!!!

Mind you Penenisula have lurked in under the radar with no coverage here put they are a well drilled unit with some genuine stars # 3 stood on big Cunnners head then ran wherever he wanted and ended up with 5 sausage rolls, what a star!! Some very impressive players (4,6,10,14,17,22,27) they were like a good version of St Leos from last year with top 5 to match any team!

Big result at Keysborough didn't think they had it in em down there but I will watch with interest this week.
NOBS proved nothing with that win SMD will struggle.
Thought the Bees would win but not by that margin and NIL goals to Lee??
Monash are a good team so no surprises with their win, will take the Bloods a while (hopefully after rd 4) before they gel!

This week

Peninsula too good for OM 34 points
Sorry Marcou you've obviously never played at Willy, shitty, windswept oval no good for the Bloods Willy rebound 10 points
SMD give it a red hot crack but against the rampaging Bees will go down by 74 points
Monash will announce themselves 46 point victors
Friars to come out hard and bounce back with an away win 19 points

Willy vs Aquinas - Willy by 46pts. Big, wide, open, unprotected ground, which they will use to their advantage.
Monash vs NOBS - Monash by 28pts. Monash still undefeated after Round 2.
SMD vs Werribee - Werribee by 120+pts. No contest. Werribee very good last week, with SMD unable to stop the Bees run on.
Pennisula vs OM - OM by 15pts. Short trip down the Frankston freeway will be rewarded in a tight contest.
BT vs Whitefriars - BT by 23pts. Manningham derby. Bullants to atone for their poor performance last week in their now traditional ANZAC day match.

Surely your not talking about Fearon Reserve? Would be one of the smallest grounds in the comp

Was talking about the fact there's no protection from the elements, which could make it tricky for Aquinas, and which Williamstown will be use to.

totally agree with the above comments played out there in a morning game last yr in the clubbies and the wind was out of control, willy boys played it very well and belted us, massive home ground advantage out there if the weather has gone south, which looks to be the case for saturday.
all the best for the weekends games.

I agree with you Marcou (you fabulous member of the great mosquito fleet), although I will be stunned if Werribee don't win by 10 goals minimum. Suspect the only close game will be BT vs Friars. Other tips - Cultrera to kick 10 goals, Loin Groin to dominate on saturday night. Don't be afraid to applaud the umpires this Saturday. Les out.

A.Kenez had 2 BOG performaces in the thirds the last 2 weeks and lastnight was named in seconds!

This mans story is truely inspirational! Fighting his way back from a 6 year back injury, the once legendary A grade star (as a 17 year old) is truely an Australian hero. It is amazing that he hasn't yet had a book offer, however his recent form would suggest that one is not far off.

When his name was read out off the magnet board i looked over and caught a glimpse of his steely gaze. I guarantee you this man is ready, nothing will stand in his way, he will not rest until he has restored Whitefriars to its rightful place in A grade.

The twos players at BT, take great pride in Saturdays game, you will be telling you kids about it for years to come.

Not long now till Gods gift to Amatures footy will be back doing it in the late game!!

My mistake, we played Willy at a different ground last time it was big and in great nick, I was disappointed when told it was the one on the water as you said shitty, windswept ugly footy down there.

Looks like a couple of margins may be out this week, cant see any 100+ point victories now, be suprised if 100 points was kicked by an team

Feel sorry for Aquinas tomorrow though, going to be a shocker at Williamstown, only other ground that bad I can think of is Old Brighton as well as Sandy but thats just for finals

How are the grounds around the Albert Park Lake looking after the Gran Prix?

And how will they be after the rain more importantly??

I assume you're wondering about Lindsay Hassett Oval TT? Rain won't effect the ground as it has a sand base and drains well. This is the first week that goal posts have been in and I believe Parks Victoria have moved them from where they are usually located (haven't seen 'em yet). The ground is also 5 metres narrower due to damage from the bloody GP.

See ya tomorrow!
