NOBS over Mentone by 30
Aquinas over BT by 35
Willy over Peninsula by 50
Monash over SMD by 25
Werribee over Whitefriars by 80

Tips from Les:

NOBS by a comfortable margin
Aquinas to get one on the board, but not much in it
Monash to get over an improving SMD in a clash of the non-traditional rivals
Werribee by quite a bit once they shake off a determined opponent
Willy by not much. This one is hard to tip, but going with the home side...

Comment: Liking the grade thus far, it appears pretty even with 6-7 sides very close on skill. Home ground is a big thing and injuries/unavailabilities will be massive. It might just be a slightly wetter winter than we have been used to, so will look keenly at those sides with a bit more engine room grunt and body size to go well through June/July.

Be nice to an umpire this Saturday. Les out.

Not much opposition for Monash at Lindsay Hasset Oval in ones or twos and SMD looking in trouble after the first 3 rounds, but have had a fair bit of success in the last few years so may have potential to bounce back.

Peninsula keep rolling on nicely and can no longer be under anyone's radar after winning well at Willy. Should be a top clash next week when 2 of the 3 undefeated sides meet when Monash goes to Mt Eliza.

Very surprised to see the Friars only kicked 3 goals at Werribee and after 3 shallackings the Bees are sitting very pretty on top and remain the frontrunners. Also impressed by BTs effort to thump Aquinas, who now move into shaky ground at zip 3. BT v NOBs is also a good match up for next week.

BT played well, but after all the preseason hype about Aquinas, they aren't much chop at all. No noticeable improvement from the last time we played them.

Did not get there yesterday but can't believe where the Friars are 0-3, seriously thought that things would be on the improve since the slippery slope they have been on.

SOFTNess does occupy my thoughts but I can only imagine how good the bees were yesterday. Guts ripped out of Friars, I wonder if it will mean enough to them to stay out of D2, coz that's where they are headed right now. Fire up Blokes take a stand and play for the Jumper.

Should be a great battle against Aquinas on Saturday, 2 teams who are doing alot worse than what was expected of them this year, this truly is the must win game

I like bagging Werribee, all good fun, but they were truly a class above, I dont know how they lost that final to Fitzroy, Werribee dont belong in D1, the 2nd qtr they just tore the Friars apart, Whitefriars failed to put any scoreboard pressure on in the 1st when it was a tight tussle, no5 from Werribee helped as well missing a few sitters :D But the 2nd and 4th qtrs by Werribee when aided by a slight breeze were amazing stuff

But the reserves won and are undefeated, they should go better 1 better than last year atleast

Probably should have beaten fitzroy in the final. Prob should have beaten rupo as well. Not taking away anything from either team as they both played exceptional footy in the finals and deserved to beat us. But like i have said previously, we did have a lot of injuries to key players at the time, which pretty much killed us. should we have played them/replaced them, who knows what the coaches were thinking. There is a belief around the team that we could have won it last year, just a bit of bad luck, so this year is all about making up for last year. Having a good run with injuries at the moment also helps. Hope we can keep it up.

Hmm....can't say I agree totally. You were clearly in the best 2 sides for the majority of the season, but the Roys did comfortably beat Werribee at Soldiers in rd 15, and backed it up again in the preliminary final.

Maybe the drop off in form/fitness occurred around rds 13/14?

In any event, no doubt the Tigers have learnt from 2009, and will be primed to win finals this season, once they inevitably book their place. Player management re: injuries will improve, and this should put Werribee in the box seat to take the flag.

Don't think SMD look like bouncing back any time soon Trev, they really struggled. Monash not bad but would need to improve sharply to match a good side. Having said that the wind down there at A.P was shocking.

I am right off Aquinas now, I thought they might be OK but clearly not the case.

Becareful jumping off the aquinas wagon. They are sensitive about it. But it has been a surprising year with friars and aquinas struggling.

I take it kruezering didn't get out of Werribee alive, it's taken him two days to post. Please pass on my condolences.

Trevor's Tips Rd 4

Slow week - still only Monday, but may as well get my pretty average tips out of the way.

OMs v SMD - I know we seriously cannot even consider SMD for more than 3 seconds but there is one possible slant on this. So far they have played Werribee, NOBs and Monash, who might be amongst 3 of the best sides. If OMs are really off the boil, and SMD are really on fire, and Tiger Woods never looks at another cocktail waitress...

Peninsula v Monash - Really looking forward to a legitimate top of the table clash and these two undefeated sides can flex some muscle, have a real crack at each other, and show us what they have got - hopefully Monash have just a little more...

Werribee v Willy - anyone got an argument for Willy? not me.

Bulleen Temp v NOBs - very interested in this one and really have no idea what will happen. BT very impressive score last week, NOBs done nothing wrong so I will just pike it and go for the home side.

Whitefriars v Aquinas - good news is that someone should get the points here and open their account. Friars at home in Rd 1 did everything but beat Peninsula and that form stacks up. Also watching their ressies pump Aquinas in the early game should fire the Donvale boys up.

(Progressively getting worse: 11/15 = 73%)

Kruezering, are u alive bud? Did u survive your trip to Werribee??

A good win to the Werribee boys who are a class above at this early stage. However add the injured kruzering, A.Kenez, a home ground advantage and stir and you come away with a much closer game second time around.

Our boys are far from throwing in the towel on this season and with undeafted two's and four teams we are better equiped than most to cover injuries as the season goes on.

Stay tuned for a friar fight back D1!

Roys did comfortably beat us in rnd 15, however we comfortably beat them earlier in the year. I'd say the rnd 15 game & the Rupo game is where we ended up getting a few niggles. Ended up resting a few and persisting with a few players which contributed to form slumps and injuries leading into the finals. Like i said, both Roys and Rupo played exceptional footy in the finals and deserved to beat us. Just think that with our full side on the park we had a real good shot at the flag. Thus the hunger for this year. Definitely hope player management has improved.

Good to know your alive. Had us worried for a while

Old Mentone Vs SMD - by 26 points - wouldnt surprise me if SMD get up though!

Peninsula V Monash Blues - by 56 points - reality check for Peninsula this week

Werribee V Williamstown - by 96 points - Williamstown will be taught a lesson

Bulleen Temp V NOBS - by 7 points - Match of the round, NOBS too good a spine to use to their advantage and pace around should prove too strong. This game should tell a story of who amongst BT, NOBS and Monash is Werribees main contender.

Whitefriars V Aquinas - by 19 points - what is happening with these two clubs? Many picked at least one to make the four if not both...

No Cultrera last week for Aquinas I noticed. Any time he plays and is fit they have a chance to sneak a win. Anyone know why he was out?...
Injured? Movie career...?

Aquinas and friar boys have lodged complaints about the ladder being upside down. I wonder if the Vafa will take them as seriously as we all did in here before the season started.......

Now let's sit back and watch them bite.....

Its just Les here having another crack at tipping some winners:

OMs not inspiring but should find enough to defeat the Southerners

Ashes by a very small margin over Pirates although the reverse could easily happen down there with the two sides having never played each other. (PS Is Gregory back for Monash??? D1 backmen beware if true)

Werribee to cruise home again without much trouble over the Willy boys

BT in a slight upset at Ajani, but still think NOBs are around the mark

Not really interested in Friars vs Aquinas but lets say Aquinas. Doesnt seem long ago that Friars were in A Grade - funny how it works innit?

Good luck to all, enjoy the day. Respect the umpires.
