Thanks for asking Set Shots, my tipping has been rubbish of late but I have put a lot of thought into it this week.......

NOBs to put a big claim in for top 4 status as they knock over Friars by 3 goals

Aquinas to squeak home at home, why I don't know.

Time for the Bees to drop one, suggest they forget about the massive drive and stay home as the Pirates will get the points

Monash with just enough class to beat Willy by a few points.

Bullants to do it pretty easy on their beloved Ajani.

Les out (remember to respect the man in white).

Bad week at panther land with several key players who went to David Bardoels infamous bucks party/wedding last weekend on manly being very naughty especially new teenage sensation billy the kid. Im tipping there twos will be quite strong this week. Tim 'britney' Spears will missing aswell due to losing his voice after a stellar performance on the microphone as the wedding singer belting out some of his greatest hits like 'toxic' and 'circus' great work tim.

Trevors Tip's - Round whatever

NOBS V WHITEFRIARS - Friars have been solid at home but seem to travel like my luggage on Jetstar - rarely turn ups as expected, if at all- NOBs to get home by a small margin. One side will be 4-4 at the bell.

AQUINAS V OMs - The bloods are finding form but OMs should have them covered in another close one to go 4-4

PENINSULA V WERRIBEE - The Pirates have a chance here as the smaller ground will allow them to bottle up the Bees and their talls can take control - wishful thinking too...

WILLY V MONASH - Monash to lift under pressure and surprise most with an away win. Also heard rumour they have swapped teams and the all conquering ressies are playing the main game.

BULLEEN v SMDs - home side will square the ledger at 4-4 with an easy win

It was like watching a game from the 70's today at Peninsula. A very water clogged playing field. A good win for the Tigers, who managed to get in front before the rain settled in. A good game played in the VAFA spirit. A very open even grade D1 is this year as all teams are competitive on the day.

Not sure about even, Werribee are now clearly a mile in front of the rest. Another big away win against a highly rated opponent underlines this. Take them away and I agree its pretty even for the rest.

All parties down at Willy yesterday should have agreed to call off the game at 3/4 time. Bloody freezing and the game was all over.

Nearly at the half way point and I think the ladder will start to sort itself out in the coming weeks.

  • Don't think Peninsula is as strong as their position says and will loose a lot more games in the second half of the season.
  • South Melbourne and Aquinas to fall further behind and will both be relegated easily.
  • NOBS, Whitefriars, Williamstown to be competitive, but not in finals contention
  • Peninsula, Monash, Bullen and Old Mentonians to fight it out for the three remaining finals spots.

If people were to have a crack at the ladder, would this be most peoples final four?

Werribee
Monash
Old Mentonians
NOB's

Originally looked at your top 4 and thought it was absurd not to have peninsula in it. having looked at their run home its doesnt seem too crazy.

they only play 4 more home games (AQ, SMD, WILL, WHIT) and 5 away (BT, OM, MON, NOBS, WERR) and a random 'home game' against NOBS this week.

It seems as if they played the easier teams away in the first 9 and face a very tough run home. Assuming they lose most of the away games, if they lose 'unexpectedly' against Aquinas, Willy, SMD or Whit at home then they really could miss......spots 2-4 really up for grabs!

I did forget about them.

Obviously they have improved from round 1.

Be interesting to see how they fare against the Tigers when the return clash comes around at thier dunghill.....

Aquinas might aswell save thier petrol this week..........

You won't see us down there this week Table Tennis, but you will see us next week keen for a crack at the likely premiers.

Very young team TT. Prone to some inconsistency...losing 3 in a row (OM, Pen - both away, and Willy - home) by a couple of kicks or less has really hurt.

not to mention that they were in front in all 3 games!

really should be 7-1 if they didn't drop off in those games.

No Smudge...Willy were clearly the better team. They deserved their away win.

MASSIVE games for Willy and Whitefriars this week.....a loss will surely put both out of finals contention (if not already).

I would like to see us up there but think that the ladder will be as follows:

WER (just keep getting the job done, will have a huge monkey on their back come finals time tho)
MON (with their twos doing so well will be able to cover for any injuries which might get them over the line in a couple)
OM (shown good form in recent weeks, only lost 2 werribee by 3 points so they cant be too bad, could be flat track bullies as they have only 1 team around and above them)
NOBS (very good at home, havent done much wrong, only abiration was the BT and AQ games)
BT (could easily finish 3rd, 4th or 5th but someone had to go here)
PEN (dont rate them, dunno why, just dont, might limp into 4th for a 1st round exit)
WIL (some games up, somes game down, will cause a few upsets which could be a factor)
WHI (hugely disappointing, proud club so im surprised to see them here)
AQ (even more disappointing after so much hype)
SMD (can go for a couple of quarters so you dont wanna be off your game, D2 beckons unfortunately)

It seems everyone agrees on the sides that are in spots 2-6 but in the end i reckon only a game and % will seperate teams 2 and 6....INCREDIBLE!!!!

and for what its worth here's my top 10:

1. Florence (BT) - gun
2. Snow (OM) - had him as my league BnF, cant be too far off
3. Lee (WER) - very good against us so he lived up to the hype.
4. Rees (PEN) - classy, quick strong on baller
5. The redhead from Monash, dunno his name but so fast over 5m out of a pack, skillful
6. Taylor (WER) - leading goal kicker, so cant be too bad!
7. Vanderloo (WIL) - kicked multiple goals in every game
8. Niezen - without losing credibility this is based purely on being in the best 8 times in 8 games.
9. Gray (WIL) - onballer who loves to sneak forward and kick a few.
10. Fairbanks (OM) - dominated us first round then got injured, powerful.

Apologies to Whitfriars and NOBS, i really dont know enough about your list. Probs biased to have 2 Willy players (same as WER) but ohwell

Most disappointing - Cultera and Krakouer

Will, few good rednuts down at Monash (including the President), but I reckon you mean Georgie Smyth (former C Grade comp B&F and multiple club B&F at Monash).
Also not sure if your man Vanderloo kicked multiple goals on Saturday against our 18 year old red head sensation??

he didnt play on the weekend, kicked 2 or more in all 7 games he's played....2,4,4,2,4,8,2. not bad but basically just wanted to get one of my boys in!

Les

you have confused vanderloo (who is their chief goalkicker but was out) for a lad I think is called J Wong. No doubt will-i-am can give more detail. He kicked a lazy 9 the week before, but had a quiet day in the wet on Monash's latest red menace. However, warning to other sides playing Willy, this boy (#23?) looks like he can seriously play, good hands, good leap, good kick and could kick a heap of goals from here in.

Trev out
