Gotta be in it to win it. That being said, we were carrying about 5 blokes that couldn't move, which is still no excuse for the insipid performance v the roys in the prelim.
I guess as you guys knew that you should have picked a team of fit players.
You never know, you might have actually won.

Lets just hope that the lower teams put in a better performance than last year, because im sick of driving that far to thump teams. It's a waste of a satdy.

If the tigers concentrated on playing well against the better teams instead of getting stuck into everyone on here they may improve in 2010.........
Ouch! Didn't think my light hearted jab would provoke that type of response, was only meant to stir up a bit of conversation on here. Been a bit dead recently.
I agree with you in that it does show a lack of depth having to play underdone players, but if those players are key components of your team, the coaches need to make a choice. Do they bring up players that may be fully fit but not ready/able to step up to senior footy, or do you hope that majority of them can get through and win you the game. They obviously thought the players would be right. That being said, 3 of the 5 were key talls, so it's a bit hard to replace all 3 at once. As for a lack of respect, all the teams that played finals beat us at 1 time or another through the year so we knew we'd have a fight on our hands.
Flogging in the 2nd semi maybe, 6 goals is a bit either way, although it was much closer than that for most of the day. Last 10 was where you really blew it out.
Agree with you in that you did soften us up for the roys. As for being not good enough, we beat you guys at rupo and beat fitzroy out there as well. I'd say not mentally tough enough when the pressure was on. As for unaccountable footy, you're right, it has been said numerous times throughout the year and is something that will be worked on over the preseason. Looking forward to this season to see if we can make amends. Good luck to you in C grade

SO following the action on some other threads here's my predictions for 2010, based on what I saw last year, and what I know of this year coming! Looking forward to some strong commentary especially about teams comin up or going down.
PRESEASON FORM
1. Werribee - Desreve to be pre season favourites based on their performance last year. Obviously crueeled with injury towards the end of last season but with plenty of potency around the ball and a talented forward line will be tough to toss!

2. Friars - My team and an extremely disappointing finish last year felt by all through the club!! Like Werribee lots of injury and went into finals against the Roys under manned and got spanked big time! Been in A grade and want to get back thereabouts so with not many losses and a couple of very good EFL recruits they will challenge hard - But I may just be biased??
3.NOBS - Not picking them with any certainty as their list seemed old last year Harwood, Sleep, Barker etc but they play with some purpose and perhaps with the St Pats connection kicking in they will focus.
4.BT - Just remember them being good competitors but believe they have lost some inportant players in Bain and Voglis, not the less TED will be hard to win at so they should be OK.
5.Aquinas - IMO will be the big improvers of the grade, plenty of run a star forward and a lot of attitude. Think their bodies will be too smal in the end but believe they will seriously challenge!!
6.Monash - Remember them from a couple of years ago but they look like they have lost some really good players which will hurt them. Always a mystery though the Blues so could finish anywhere, good luck to the returning coach.
7.Willy - Just a guess but their efforts in the GF suggest they are a feisty crew who play with passion, loved the entry in the almanac! Seem to be placed with spirit which is good.
8. SMD - Play with passion but lack resource will be the shinboners of the grade and hang in there. Can't see them being a threat though on 10!
9. Peninsula - Don't know anything except the reflections on their dismal end to the year last year, apologies if I've got this horribly wrong and in any case we get to find out rd 1!!
10. OM - My most disappointing team from last year seem to be playing with little or no comitment would need the proverbial bag of cement to harden the F$%& up! D2 beckons softies!
BT will be strong. Were pretty dominant in D1 back in 2008, and the side only looks stronger with a lot of improvement from the younger guys in the side back then. Expect them to be there at the business end of the season, and with there recently strong finals record would be a good chance to go straight back up.

BT won the D2 flag 3 or 4 years earlier so they know had to win the big one, plenty of old heads down there.Hmm...using comparisons to the 2008 GF to pump up your side's chances for 2010 eh boy?
Long bow being drawn there chap!
I believe only 3 out of the 10 C section relegatees in the past 5 seasons have bounced straight back up after landing themselves in D1 - Rupertswood in the season just gone, plus Hampton Rovers in 2007 and Ormond in 2005.
Werribee will be better for our lessons learnt in 2009 and I'm sure the Friars would fancy their chances as well.
Oh, one other thing, aside from winning the flag in D1 in 2008, what is BT's 'recently strong finals record' based on? U19 North (2) flags?![]()
