I think we are overdue for a thread for Division 2 in 2014.

Teams competing in the Division this year are:

Elsternwick
Glen Eira
Ivanhoe
Kew
Monash Gryphons
Old Eltham
Old Paradians
South Melbourne Districts
St Johns

Predictions on how the year will pan out? Any news on recruits?

Round 1 fixture is as follows:

Elsternwick v Kew
Old Eltham v Monash
Old Paradians v St Marys
South Melb v St Johns
Glen Eira v Ivanhoe

I'm told by a few people that St Johns are flying with a bunch of former players returning. Early top 4 favorite for mine.
I have heard the same about SMS, added some senior heads to their young list. Another early top 4 chance.
Ash Close getting an offer to good to refuse i believe.

Whenever a side gets relegated they always seem to get excited at a flag prospect the following year... Lots of clearances to GE... good to see

Any names??? Quality???
I didnt get any names unfortunately. A former captain is all i got?
After seeing them last year though, the addition of a couple of mature bodies is exactly what they needed. you would think there would be some quality senior players out of their 19s premiership too.?
If St Johns have added some guns to their list they are going to be seriously hard to beat, especially at their ground, thats 9 wins there!!
Kew to do a Yarra Valley?
Parade?
Are the clearances for Glen Eira stars?

Taken the format from one of the other Division Threads

Premiers
St Johns- hearing really good things from the St Johns camp, both directly and indirectly. Massive year ahead.

Runner Up St Marys- Jess Sinclair seems to have them up and about- a look at their FB page tells you numbers not an issue at all.

Improver Glen Eira- Started a netball club and hearing numbers have increased, quality is a question mark though

Sliders Eltham- Hearing absolutely nothing out of them.

Best Forward Rohan Scott- Best outside of Therry last year and supply will improve.

Round 1
Elsternwick v Kew
Old Eltham v Monash
Old Paradians v St Marys
South Melb v St Johns
Glen Eira v Ivanhoe

Your thoughts?

I nearly agree with just about everything there!

PREMIERS: St Johns- all the rave at the moment, everything seems to be going well out in doveton.

RUNNER UP: SMS- with such a young side making the prelim last year, would expect improvement again.

IMPROVER: Glen Eira- cant see them having another year like the last 2.

SLIDERS: Eltham- ageing side, would have to get some quality out of the school.

BEST FORWARD: A. Brazzale, teams will find him far to hard to stop.

ROUND 1
elsternwick v KEW
eltham v MONASH
parade v SMS
south melb v ST JOHNS
GLEN EIRA v ivanhoe

need to get this forum up and running.

I think that Div2 will be the hardest section to pick this year.

It looks very different to the Div2 Glen Eira left 2 years ago.

Seems as though SMS and St Johns will be their at the pointy end and agree. Parade, SMD and Eltham seem to be stuck in this division as we where for a few years. It took us an influx of quality to snap out of it, of which it doesn't look that any of them have done. We have never played Elsternwick, Kew nor Monash and am looking forward to seeing what they can produce.

Looking forward to round 1.

elsternwick v KEW
ELTHAM v Monash
parade v SMS
south melb v ST JOHNS
GLEN EIRA v ivanhoe

For what its worth:
Eltham
SMS
GE
S Johns
Kew
Winners this weekend

Good luck to all!
Just going by rumours at this stage but mainly on the that basis my tips are:

Eltham had a good side last year until injuries hit them hard mid-season. Expect them to contend and the rumour mill says monash aren't as strong so Eltham by 54 points

Parade were hard to beat at home last year and have strengthened their list but by all accounts St Marys are set for a big year and they'll win by 38 points.

Glen eira have a new coach and have recruited a lot of players from other leagues. We are without Ash Close this year who is a big loss but have still got a good list developed from our juniors and I think it'll be the Hoes by 30 points.

Expect south to be tough to beat this year and even though I also expect St johns to contend for the title, I'll go for south at home by 5 points.

From all accounts kew were very impressive last year and should be another contender this year. Hard to get a guage on how much Elsternwick have improved since we last played them so I'll go with Kew by 40 points.

Let's hope for some tough, hard footy minus any injuries!

Your thoughts?
For st johns to win by that much at south is huge, i think they will be a cut above the rest!??
Kew will be their main contender i feel now.???
Sms just took advantage of a very poor parade, they will be bottom 2 going on that result and their other pre season games.
Great to see glen eira competitive again.

ROUND 2

GLEN EIRA v monash
SMS v elsternwick
IVANHOE v parade
ST JOHNS v eltham
KEW v South melb

Some very interesting results, all the talk except for GE seemed to be on the money. Strong win by SMS away very surprising, Parade usually tough to beat at home. Looking foward to seeing the result of SJ v Elt.....This early in the season and could be a crucial game.

Would love to know how you worked out GE to finish bottom? Especially after a week were 4 teams lost by more than 11 goals.

Results where probably as expected. I think there will be 3 clear groups

St Johns
Kew

Mid (Fighting for a place in the finals)

Glen Eira
South Melb

Relegation Fight
Monash
