Hopefully my selections will work out better than last week !

Monash Gryphons vs Elsternwick
Old Paradians vs MHSOB
Ivanhoe vs Richmond
South Melbourne vs Old Eltham
Northern Blues
vs St Johns

A couple of cracking games to kick off the second half of the year and help shape the fortunes of many.

Ones:
Monash Gryphons vs Elsternwick - massive in terms of impact it could have on potential relegation stakes. Gryphs at home are a few goal better side and I think they will win this one by 10 points.
Old Paradians vs MHSOB - A loss here by the unicorns could make grabbing a finals berth very, very difficult. OP's going better and still a chance for a top two spot - IMO. OP's by 23 points.
Ivanhoe vs Richmond - this will be alot closer than rd 1 and we are expecting the Snakes to be very hard to beat with a couple of big inclusions that did not play against us in the first encounter. Hoes by 8 points.
South Melbourne vs Old Eltham - turtles believe that a top two finish is very much within their reach and playing some very good footy. Will win by plenty over the men from South Melbourne
Northern Blues
vs St Johns - match of the round IMO. At full strength the Joc's are a very, very good team, but the blues will have a real opportunity here with a depleted St Johns (injuries and suspensions). I see the next 6 weeks being a testing time for the Doveton crew and we will see if they cover the losses in the short to medium term and still beat some of the top four aspirants? If not, then things open up alot more in the top four than they looked a couple of games back. Blues in a cracker by 11 points.

Twos:
Monash Gryphons
vs Elsternwick
Old Paradians vs MHSOB
Ivanhoe vs Richmond
South Melbourne vs Old Eltham
Northern Blues
vs St Johns

Good luck all - Chump.

Monash Gryphons vs Elsternwick Much to play for.
Old Paradians vs MHSOB. Paradians too strong across 4 quarters.
Ivanhoe vs Richmond Hoes by a bit.
South Melbourne vs Old Eltham Enough said. The districts have had some stellar years. This is however, not one of them.
Northern Blues
vs St Johns.Feeling the Blues are pacey enough to evade tacklers.

Do we know who is still missing for st.johns? From what I've heard the injuries last weekend were all season ending, if they weren't and they can keep winning games with all these guys supposedly missing it will be scary to see what teams face come finals!

a full strength Ivanhoe vs a full strength St.Johns would be great to watch!

Not sure if season ending, but if they are that's a big blow. They still have a few to come back from injury/suspension, so I believe they will still have a strong side - it's just if they can get a good result out of the next 6 weeks or not as their twos did look a little light on for depth based on what we saw. (that could have been a weakened team though if they already had several missing).

Only 1 injury season ending.. 2 prior to the weekend as well. Everyone else will be back. St Johns will continue to improve from here on out. Few back in tomorrow including our Sudanese Prince who missed last week. Few back the week after. 2 big inclusions of late, check ur records because they are familiar names.

Massive 6 weeks for the club. Very exciting. Great place to be at the moment.
Should be a great game tomorrow, a lot of pressure on the poster boys as a loss will see them drop further away from the 4.

Great to hear! Should be a ripping back end of the year to watch the top 4-5 teams battle it out!
Gotta love good footy!

Witnessed the blues dismantle Jocs today, take your chances when a team is down they say and that's what they did. 51 points up late in the last but Jocs never say die attitude kicked 3 late ones but the damage was done. Spotted a few VAFA officials at the game and the Jocs coach seemed to be muzzled today and didn't say boo, on his phone a bit though, probably writing down notes. No fights which was surprising for both sides.
Blues played really well, and just didn't stop running. Only problem is they are too hot and cold.
Jocs will regroup too there to good and won't drop another for the year.

Wow - Waxy that's either a massive pump up for the Blues or showing little respect for OP's, Eltham and Ivanhoe?

MASSIVE game next week with the Blues and Hoes after the Blues were too good last time.

Chump

interested results but still feel that the top two teams are st johns and ivanhoe with ivanhoe having the advantage obviously at the moment, feel as that win against the jocs will help northern go a long way in coming in the top 4. Starting to get to the pointy end now very exciting

3/5 last week 36/45 total. At the halfway mark no real surprises for me. Northern Blues may snatch a finals spot, the snakes and unicorns outside chances but would have to win some games against the top 5 teams. This week looks to have some cracking games also

Eltham over Souths
Parade in a tight one over MHSOB
Ivanhoe too strong for Richmond
St John's to bounce back against the Blues but only just
Monash to beat Elsternwick in the relegation battle on their own deck
4/5 last week 40/50 total.
This week Eltham over Elsternwick
Monash a better side at home but Parade too many options up forward
Ivanhoe too strong for the Blues in the match of the round
South Melbourne came out hard against us last week and played some good footy. If they can play like that for 4 quarters they'll get their first win soon. Not this week Richmond too strong.
St. John's to get back on the winners list against the Unicorns in a tight one

Happy with the Hoes yesterday as they played some exciting football in both the seniors and reserves. The Blues had our measure last time around in the seniors and should have won by a bit more than the 5 point margin, but yesterday was a different story. After a scrappy first term we were able to get our run going and hit targets we were missing in the early part of the game.

The Reserves, did enough in the end to record a good win after a tough first half of footy. I'm surprised that NB twos are we're they are on the ladder as they look to be better than the position they currently sit in.

The Wicks get the Turtles again - they have a habit of doing that each year. Opens things up again and if the Gryphs could have held on over OP's then things would have been very interesting. Sets up a great set of scenarios off the back of the Turtles v Raiders game next week.

Cheers, Chump.

Must have been an awesome job by the Hoes. Gotta be happy with that.

Despite the fixture showing the back oval at Elsternwick, the game was played on Sportscover arena. Even undermanned, the Wickers put on a gutsy display and wanted the ball more than the Turtles. Some lesser lights put in great performances. Seems there's life in the old dog yet.

Wicks definitely wanted it more, we nearly snatched it a few times but it wouldn't have been a deserved win. Thanks must go to Elsternwick reserves for the guard of of honour for an intellectually disabled turtle who played his 50th game on Saturday, it's what makes local footy so great.

Enjoyed what I saw of the game, but being at the GF reunion I spent more time talking to ex teamates than watching the guys great win.
Very happy with how the 'Hoes are rolling along right now.

Noticed another two St Johns players reported this week.... Whats that bring the total to for the year?

It would be a concern for the VAFA and the club alike I would think. The VAFA have a history of politely/privately asking clubs to find new competitions to play in if sustained behavioral problems exist and acceptable steps are not taken by the club internally to address them. I gather it would be frustrating for the club officials at the Joc's, especially when they are a very good team at full strength.

I'm assuming there were no vafa reps at the Jocs game this time then? On all reports they were well behaved last week against the blues (when vafa reps were there watching). Interested to know what the reports were for? Surely not fighting again?
