what a win today!! beat therry penola to the tune of 81 points - 20 13 133 to 7 10 52. scott lawry unstoppable as always with a touch of steve frost thrown in for good measure. chris fidler snagged 5 goals in a solid display of forward line football. weve managed to move up to 8th position as well & out of the relegation zone for the time being. an interesting final 6 weeks of football coming up.

on a sour note though, we had a heartbreaking loss to the therry penola twos today by 1 point... 8 11 59 to 8 12 60. an awesome effort by our lads to push their twos who had won the last 8 out of 9, won last week by 118 points & are currently sitting 2nd compared to our 10th. the signs are there...

The talking point of the round has to be GE lost by 15 goals!
Where did the combine pull this performance from? Can they stay alive?

are the wheels starting to fall off at saintland?? theyve lost 2 of the last 3 & their spot in the 4 has been taken by ivanhoe today. was esl's performance today better than when they smashed us 4 weeks ago? i think ge are in trouble...

Well done to the winners this week - tipped 5/5 this week I think (will have to check):D

The scoreboard again flattered my boys - GE owned the 2nd quarter comprehensively and we were very lucky to be in front at the big break.

Dont discount the Saints - they are tough to beat all weeks and at any venue..

Massive props to Ivanhoe - having a great 1st up season in D2 and now threatening to play a big part in finals procedings - plus we need some space over Banyule

Great win by Ivanhoe yesterday. It got a bit close in the last qtr but we managed to hold on. Banyule are overrated in my opinion.
Thanks to your boys drifter, we are now in the 4.
It's gonna be a HUGE game next week against Glen Eira.

is it true bentleigh played 5 or 6 kids who played 19's 1st & then doubled up? if yeah, then the question has to be why haven't bentleigh played more of these kids earlier given yesterday's result?

Are we at risk of opening up another "should Under 19's play Seniors debate" like the one a couple of weeks ago involving Werribee. As I stated then if an Under 19 is good enough then he is wasting his time playing Under 19's. You get more experience & learn more under experienced players playing Senior football.

Like I said then in the country there is no Under 18 or 19s, you're straight into Senior/Reserves football at the age of 16.

On the issue of doubling up I don't think a kid should be doing this every week, but that's an entire different issue.

Six played in the u19s at 9.20 and then doubled up and played in the seniors at 2.00.

All had outstanding games and showed that they are up for senior football. The future is looking bright down at Athur Street in the next couple of years.

I'm a little confused. Bentleigh did defeat Therry didn't they? Just that they have'nt been awarded any points & in fact Therry have moved from 3 wins to four. Can you clear this up Left Foot Kick, Stewie or Red & Blue?

Credit to your boys drifter, you totally outplayed us after half time. A 7 or 8 goal streak when the game was done and dusted in the last did not really do us justice.

We have made it really hard for ourselves now with Ivanhoe slipping us out of the 4. Almost game of the year down at Hoe park this week.

Just a mistake by the VAFA I think.

I'm sure they will clear it up.

Would like more reviews 1st but OW travelling to Bentleigh is an intrigueing match up this week - a win to either side very very valuable!

Any news from the Werribee camp on the Hill bloke who debuted for SMS and kicked 5???

What type of player is he?

Hill is a big bloke, he is 6 2 maybe 120kg hard to get around tried hard strong when in front, kicking action a bit awkward need to probarly someone that can jump and punch trying to go him body on body be hard to beat... by memory kicked three late in the last
would be 35 and looks like the butterbean

Akka - Matty Whiting.

3 best on's in the reserves in a row. Any chance of promoting him?

Is there a spot for him?

TT- Matty is playing some great footy at the moment. On current form he deserves a game in the seniors. Why he isn't in the team currently only the selection panel know. He just needs to keep doing what he is doing and eventually he will get his chance.

Thanks Javo23:thumbsu:

My Round 12 summary

Biggest Winner: There were 2

Ivanhoe upsetting Banyule as I predicted hey Gruffalo and claiming the 4th position as Glen Eira stumbled out at Bennettswood

Bentleigh demolishing Therry Penola and giving away that hated 9th position

Biggest loser: Has to be reverse of the above doesnt it.

Other observations

Werribee fielding a heap of people who normally play 2's - what is going on injury wise out at Tigerland

Sharpshooters race just tightening up a tad also - wonder when Angelo Pace will come back..... is there room for him in the free whelling Hoer structure??

Lastly OW won and stay alive with very little fanfare - trailing by about 20 points at 3/4 time this was a good effort by the Warriors

Rotation working well at the Tigers. Blooded 3 more new players in the ones on Saturday. The way wer're going every player in the two's will have game time in the one's. May even see S. Daly there with his cameo role in the two's on Saturday with a brilliant goal from 1 metre out RUNNING in:D

big call..
scoring shots over 2 games
Ban - 73
IA - 50
Banyule need to learn how to kick
does everyone else think Ban are over rated?
or are IA just rapidly improving?

I think were pretty quick to jump off sides, as you said maybe its just Ivanhoe improving or simply just did homework on how to beat Banyule.

4th spot will certainly be interesting with 3 sides all vying for it. I still maintain that OW will claim it.

John if you were a regular reader, you'd be well aware that IA don't exist anymore, it is Ivanhoe or 'The Hoes'!!

I'll back up Wamba - Banyule sit 3 games clear in 3rd - they have a massive say in D2 this season!!!

I love the battle for 4th spot - I agree OW are coming but the Hoers are the best placed of the contenders IMO having played ESL and Banyule twice already

They will play each other in a massive game down the stretch
