From what I'm reading it seems everyone has written GE off!!

All three side vying for 4th spot have claims. At the moment we are 4 points out of the four, so surely OW, if anyone have to be the outsiders.

Do you think the D2 views will crack the 100,000 before C Section does.

We are about 2000 behind at present,

I'll keep logging in to help!!!!!!!

How do we think Banyule will go in the finals? Finals is a very much crash and bash sort of tempto, can the young bodies hold up for it?

Drifter, How many players are out for Leos at the moment? Saw alot of boys on crutches on saturday. Just wondering how many, if any, you are expecting back into the side before finals?

On another not, Is your club planning to do anything about the state of your club rooms? For some reason the change rooms stunk when we walked in there Saturday. And I find it a little strange that you guys have to walk up to your rooms on the top level.

At a stretch missing 8 from our best 22 - realistically will get half a dozen back very soon with 2 longer term injuries

Will enquire about your rooms - apologies for the stench - maybe it was the Old Camberwell clubbies............no will look into it for you

we dont mind the stairs - been like that for years so know no other way

Luckily Barry Hall took his week, and no tribunal needed this week in the AFL. I noticed that Stewy Leowe is up for a visit to the tribunal tomorrow night, and would not have been available to play grim reaper in the AFL court house!

Great win by Bentleigh. Its been a couple of hard weeks by our boys, so it was good to finally play as well as we did.
It's true that we had 6 Under 19s play both games, as well as not having either Robbo or Sharp, along with another 3 players from our best 22 missing.
This season provides an interesting run home for everyone...

is it true bentleigh played 5 or 6 kids who played 19's 1st & then doubled up? if yeah, then the question has to be why haven't bentleigh played more of these kids earlier given yesterday's result?

we did do that. the unders are pushing for finals so all the kids were needed until last saturday when we rewarded 6 of them for consistent football.

does anyone else from bentleigh wanna tell us that they played with 6 under 19 players? I'm not sure i got it the first 5 times

**laugh** youre right... think enough has been said about that topic. how about sms pushing werribee all the way on saturday - it looks like they just couldnt "maintain the rage" in the last quarter unfortunately.

were werribee "brittle" under the intense pressure applied by sms for 3 3/4 quarters??

They are still premiership favourites Stewie - other clubs cant pressure them enough hence they sit 11 & 1

SMS have so much talent if they get on the park

Keep an eye on them in whatever grade they are in in 2009

that was always going to be the case drifter even if sms caused a massive upset last saturday - werribee are a class act with esl & banyule a close second.

sms may have turned the corner in regards to winning a few from now on - i think theyve won a few "supporters" with their brave act of last saturday...

My Round 12 summary

Biggest Winner: There were 2

Ivanhoe upsetting Banyule as I predicted hey Gruffalo and claiming the 4th position as Glen Eira stumbled out at Bennettswood

Bentleigh demolishing Therry Penola and giving away that hated 9th position

Biggest loser: Has to be reverse of the above doesnt it.

Other observations

Werribee fielding a heap of people who normally play 2's - what is going on injury wise out at Tigerland

Sharpshooters race just tightening up a tad also - wonder when Angelo Pace will come back..... is there room for him in the free whelling Hoer structure??

Lastly OW won and stay alive with very little fanfare - trailing by about 20 points at 3/4 time this was a good effort by the Warriors

Drifter, well done, your intuition was correct.
Some telling crucial misses by Banyule and an extraordinary double goal awarded to Ivanhoe in the 2nd qtr telling factors in the outcome. Haven't seen much amateur footy in my time but the umpiring standard provides constant amusement and bewilderment.
Johnmason made an intersting post, regarding shots at goal, which is a relevant point. All credit to Ivanhoe they came to play and were hungry to win. The bears can learn from that hunger, i'm sure banyule can bounce back.
Hopefully some senior players back over the next couple of weeks.

John if you were a regular reader, you'd be well aware that IA don't exist anymore, it is Ivanhoe or 'The Hoes'!!

Sight of the week... late in the third quarter in the ressies at the Pine Lodge, Old Ivanhoe vs Old Scotch in A section. Full team of umpires in natty blue VAFA jackets turned up for the main game, clustered together next to the rooms and making knowledgable noises (as they do) before getting changed. Bloke in RDFL shirt strolls up munching on a hot dog, joins in the conversation, and says, "Which team is Banyule?"

Ooops. If one of your umps turned up late on the weekend, now you know why!

god help the old paradians this week when they face up against banyule at the brockwell - the bears will be seething after the last 2 weeks!! id reckon a 30 goal humiliation could be on the cards...

on the subject of umpires, i saw the funniest thing at arthur st on the weekend: there was a dust up in the therry penola forward line in the third quarter & the umpire stomped in (yes, stomped), blew his whistle as loud as he could & shouted to the players "OUT, NOW!!!" at the top of his voice. to make matters worse, he did this is front of the bentleigh crowd!! i dont think ive ever laughed as much as i did at a football match than last saturday... it was bloody hilarious!!

How many of those injuries are ankles and knees Drifter? That ground you play on is like concrete. When we last played you we finished with one on the bench in both games!

Interesting you say that

Of the 6 - 2 are holidays so no probs there, 1 ankles, 1 hamstring, 1 knee and 1 I cant recall

We are aware the ground is not holding up well - might be good to hit to the road this week.

Other than small - how is Ferndale Park holding up??????????

Bit quiet on here this morning....

Time for a poll i think.

try and keep it non biased

Grand finalist: Werribee v St Leos

League B&F: N.Baranello (named in the best nearly every week in a succesful side)

Highest Goal Kicker: Race between Pace and Clark

Relegation: SMS & Therry

Best Moment of the Season so far: For a Werribee fan, it was great to watch the 2nd half demolition of OW.

Control your enthusiasm Stewie40:thumbsu: - I'll happily take Old Paradians at a 30 goal line....

Not disputing the bears will be fired up but OP are an outfit that deserves respect - not without a chance this week either

Ferndale is spot on Drifter. Very good condition.

where are the therry guys on here? there hasnt been any talk about the other dust up that happened just after this one...
there was a little bit going on amongst the bentleigh and therry supporters and at 3/4 time a punch was thrown from bannister's father, landing the hit on bentleigh vice president "dizzy" smith (also a trainer at richmond FC in the AFL). this took a lot of attention away from the 3/4 time huddles as everyone had their attention on what was going on down the car park end of the ground.
the therry supporters took themselves away from the bentleigh crowd and sat across the other side of the venue for the final term.
looks like daddy didnt like the 80 point smashing that was going on... I wonder if he would do this to a supporter at a carlton game where his other son is playing? very poor display from him.
do the therry guys know much about this happening on the weekend and is he always such a sore loser like that?

How did the prez end up? Generally when the old man hits they stay hit.

GF: Werribee v ESL

League B & F: Baranello

Goal Kicking: Clark - to hit the half century this week too.

Relegation: SMS - Therry

Best Moment so far: I know some people are sick of it on this forum, but for me it would have to be betting Therry with probably the youngest side put on the park by a D2 team this year. Therry tried to be tough and intimidating and push blokes over but it just didn't work for them!
