Backs: McGuiness (Will) A.Williams (Aqu) P.Walker (St J)
HBs: Maaskant (Aqu) A. Taylor (Wer) Tsitogiannis (GE)
C: J. Robertson (Ben) Toomey (Aqu) Palmington (Wer)
HF: Pattie (St J) Mallet (Sal) Mahoney (SMD)

Rucks: Dunne (Sal) Cheevers (SMD) Tedesco (Wer)

Inter: Ballard (EMM) Vamvakas (GE) Baranello (EMM) Cachia (St J)

Few interesting ones like Dunne, thought Ballard would have been ranked higher??? Also no Den Braber???

Actually dont mind that - Good spine. Not sure Ballard played enough games to get higher. Also though Baranello could have started on.

Thanks Big Blood for posting

Fair team Jono, well done. Not sure I would of left Den Brabner out, possibly would have found some room for T Lee and at least one SMD defender as well. Sammy Atherton or Adam Ray perhaps.

Jono, what is going on with your odds this week? SMD $1.70 but Werribee to win by 7 points, come on get off the fence. I'll take the South Melbourne double for $50 thanks champ.

Youngblood, having just finalised my team I can honestly tell you that you'll have to wait 'till tomorrow to find out if the punters will see my Jetta like pace.

Bloods, the ground tomorrow holds no fears for either SMD teams, many of the older blokes around the club have played many games at Gerry Green back in our SFL days.

Can't bloody wait 'till tomorrow!

with all the problems Salesian had regarding their ground, staying up in D2 is a pretty good result for them. If a few of those young players can step up again and the club gets a permanent home, they might challenge for finals as they did last year.

and harps, i couldn't think of a better reason to get promoted than to avoid all things to do with Old Westbourne. particularly their forum trolls! see you on the d1 boards hopefully :thumbsu:

Can't cop Old Westbourne, very low club. As for Werribee vs South I think Werribee will be too strong. South are good only at certain times which isn't enough in finals, they can be a little timid also. South v Old Westbourne next year should be interesting from what I have heard.

Harps- A few injury concerns that you had on Sunday how did they all pull up? Will i get the usual and expected response of we have to wait till tomorrow?

Can't wait for tomorrow either! Spring in the air, gr8 weather for football and obviously the most important being a grand final spot up for grabs!!

Congrats also to all that made the D2 team of the year especially the 3 Aquinas boys, a few were unlucky but i spose that just shows how even the side is at Aquinas...

Not sure why you'd post that youngblood. Our senior club has never had anything to do with yours. Perhaps you were trying to score some brownie points with SM? I'm not sure?

Reading your posts during the year I thought you were a bit better than that. Maybe I was wrong.

Good luck next week.

I do not speak for youngblood in any way, but maybe his thoughts are to do with the under 19s a couple of yrs ago when old westbourne kicked Aquinas out of the finals? Under 19s have had some healthy battles against ur mob over the last couple of yrs... i however have found no problem with the unders when i have played against them so maybe just some sour grapes?

However looking over some of their comments on the forum they do carry a few trolls with their posts! and u dont need to play against them to know of this!

Hey harps if you guys win tomorrow you should dong the boots on for the granny. With your leroy jetta pace up against my alwyn davie pace it should be a great duel:D. Goodluck tommorow mate but i cant say the same for the 1's go tigers

You playing in the grannie Yaga?? I heard a rumour u had retired due to lack of opportunities? Or were u "pushed" like your equivalent vandenberg? Unlucky in any case. I'm sure the boys will find a little extra for you next week! :D

Heard a rumor Yaga and derek Kickett will have a lot more in common

south melb beat werribie by about 10 goals

it was about 175 to 120 dno exact scores.... south melb killed the first kicking 11 goals to 2 and then tigers pegged it back to 10 points early in the 4th n south ran away with it... noticed one of their talls go off late in the last Q holding his shoulder? is he alright??? haha (not expecting to get any information anyways)

Marty costello kicked 10!

Yaga, may have missed our chance to play against each other with D1 looming in 2008, could find a spot for you though if you get sick of wearing yellow and black. Good luck this week.

Well done to the Aquinas reserves on Saturday, brilliant display of finals footy.

Jono, another $50 to you mate. Season: Harper = $864.95 Jono = $395.00

Looking forward to the vote count tonight, any other BF posters going? Who will win the D2 medal? Which player from your club got the invite? It's Cheevo for the districts.

Hope the two umpires from the 1's game on Saturday enjoy mad Monday, very unlikely they will umpire again.........ever! Worst I've seen all year.

It was another week of bad umpiring for both sides, didnt favour any1 side. Some staggering decisions. One was Travvy Ryan getting sent off for swearing. I was standing right next to him and bearly heard him swear so noone over the fence would of. When will the umpires stop trying to be big men and stamp themselves on the game and just let the game flow?

Couple of great qtrs for SMD on the w/e but if where to knock off Aquinas we will have to play 4 qtrs.

What did you think of the umpiring in the twos game Harps? I was confused on a few occasions...

Congrats on a great season too Harps, Ressies coach is alwasy a hard gig especially with what looked like such a tough time u had getting ur boys together when they had to wear the white shorts... Love playing against the South boys as they always have a red hot crack and never any problems with dirty cr@p happening, the lapse in the second quarter cost you guys the game...

Looking forward to a cracker match in the ones this week with south looking very impressive on saturday, especially in that first quarter!!

saints mate you are killing me!

stop sitting on the fence, 34 to 14 free kicks to 3 qtr time is ridiculous. i understand that this stat can be misleading but that is a bit over the top we all must agree.

was much the same the week before.

I heard the expletive from trav's mouth and i was behind the bench at that stage. stupid rule and a yellow card is overkill but it wasnt the first time he had swore in anger so the umpire was within his rights.

good luck at the vote count tonight as well saints!!!

Yep, our second quarter killed us, I just couldn't find anyone to stop #36 in the middle and once you got a decent lead we were toast. Must say that my boys were very good in the second half after I had a crack at them at the main break but Aquinas had too many guns on the day. D1 fullback of the year playing in the 2's was a massive advantage and without slappers at FF Chubba was in trouble one out against the Aquinas defence. I'll cop the blame for leaving him alone for so long (hindsight eh!). Must also congratulate my team for not dropping their heads and trying all the way to the death, we're looking forward to resuming hostilities again next year Bloods, good luck next week.

As for the umpires, I thought overall they were good in the 2's, I thought the young ladies running the boundary were fantastic too, no complaints from me. (different story completely in the 1's)

I'm never one to sit on the fence!!! Are you trying to get into the action of big footy in the hope someone brings your name up as a shock inclusuion this week?

Now mate, dont get on here and banty around facts. So the free kicks were lob sided, care factor = 0. Some were there some weren't. They were bad to both sides. As for the week before umpires had no influence on the game, Aquinas were to good on the day.

As for Travvy getting sent off, we are playing SENIOR football. To get sent off for swearing is absolutely terrible especially in the heat of the battle. If its at umpire or crowd fair enough but for missing a goal and showing frustration is terrible.

You know as well as i do i will not poll any votes tonight. Backmen dont get many genearlly and my year has been poo!!! Cheevo, Moose and Sab will lead our votes.

Well said Bloods22 :thumbsu: in regards to the 2's game. D.Boland turned it on in the first half and ensured that your boys from Ringwood were going to have two sides in the GF. Congratulations to Mick and the rest of your boys. Will there be any chance for any promotion into the ones for any of the boys ?

Harps like I said on Saturday you guys just lacked a bit of leg speed on the wings and flanks to compete to the Bloods. At least you guys fought out the game as you could easily have chucked it in after being down by 10 goals at half time. You will look back in a couple of weeks and think back and come to the realisation that you guys did pretty well for the whole season.

Werribee and Aquinas have been the best two 2's sides this year and are rightfully playing off in the big dance. It will be a battle to see if Aquinas can get enough ball to Boland, Visser and Ragozzini (If not playing in the 1's) to kick a winning score. On the Werribee side of things Daly could hold the key to success for the Tigers. He knows how to present and will always provide a contest within the arc. But don't underestimate the half backs and wingers from Werribee.

Can anyone from Werribee tell us if any of the boys who played in the 1's on Saturday are eligable for the 2's GF this week ? As this could make a massive difference in the end result

As the senior group has named the team of the year I believe it is necessary for the dew kickers to have one too ! This is my opinion (I know it doesn't count for much :p) I had get a couple of my boys in :D . Also I wanted to get a balanced selection from all ten teams

Backs - Wilson (St.J) M.Boland (Aq) P.Hannan (SMD)
Half Backs - Cavarra (Willi) Nannes (Sal) Holmes (St.J)
Centre - Emery (St.J) Dawe (SMD) Palmer (W)
Half Forward - D.Boland (Aq) Visser (Aq) Zwar (GE)
Forward - Daly (W) Dowsey (Willi) Marinas (W)
Rucks - Macgee (SMD) Oldham (Willi) Wanke (Ban)
I/C - Kinghorn (Aq) Richards (Ben) Little (ESL) Haines (GE)
Coach - Mick Lynch (Aq)

Sloth out

Good side Sloth, M.Boland has had a great year for us and has gone from a maybe player at the start of the year to the first picked in the side by the end of the yr.. What about A.Williams who made the seniors side of the year? He played enough games to qualify for the twos finals could he get an appearance in both sides??

Harps you would know the twos better than any1 you want to try and make a side?

Any room for holt, walden or rieman?

Bloods trust me on this, no one knows D2 reserves better than Sloth except for maybe the two coaches still preparing for a game this week. I have sought his opinions more than once this season as he studies the game like no one I have met and he is always good enough to say it straight. His team is pretty good although I would have to have Jules Merveich (SMD) on a HBF, Jules will most likely win our 2's B&F but missed the finals while chasing his fortune out west. Fox at Aquinas carved us up twice and should go in as an on baller. Ryan Bell (WER) should be considered as well. I'll put up a team later in the week after some thought.
