Very early in season, but we have a few crunch games this weekend.

Aquinus vs Werribee
A lot of good talk about the home side at the start of the year, and where the favorites going into round 1. If that status remains then they have to win these type of games at home.

South vs Glen Eira
Is South a real contender? I personaly think that the winner of this game will make the finals and the losser will be scratching for a place.

Bentleigh vs Willi
Losser will find it very hard to make finals this year.

Salesians vs St Leos
Will Salesian be one of two going down at years end? Another loss and you would have to think so.

St Johns vs Banyule
Long trip for the B's, a big win and they would have to be the flag favorites.

Cronan has a bad ankle. Was meant to be back this week but he is now on the Aaron Hamill and Chris Scott injury list (indefenite).
Interesting to see Cronin mentioned with Hamill & Scott, slightly different reputation regarding his attack on the footy

I wouldnt of thought that at round 4 there were too many crunch games. Its a long season and you dont wanna peak to early.
All we know is that Werribee will finish 17 - 1 and then win the Grand Final so its playing for second now. In fact we should just play a big game of Poker (1 rep per team) with the 1st 2 losers being relegated and the winner going to D1.
Thoughts?

Gee ur a tossa mate. There's nothing wrong with having confidence is there? Its when you become arrogent that problems occur and i asure you that theres no sign of arrogance down at tigerland

can you explain these comments made from one of your players just a couple of pages back...

"...Bloody oath we will be unbeatable... we will show our dominance this week by smashing the highly rated aquinas outfit on there home turf..."

"...and i can assure u mate that we do not rate Leos at all....10+ goal win at the hands of werribee in a few weeks..."

maybe your right arrogance is the wrong word... is there something stronger that should be used?

Lossing games now only means that you have to pick up these games at the end of the season!!!

Put yourself in Auqinus' shoes. If they loss this then they are 2 and 2 and propably out of the four. It makes it hard to pick up games late in the season when you find yourself having to beat Werribee at home to make finals.

Maybe calling them crunch games may be a bit rough but season defining games this weekend maybe?

Well personally i dont think the person who wrote that is actually a player mate

you are kidding, the crap that has spoken on here by The Shit Farmers is absolute arrogance. A bit of humble pie from Aquinas should be the fix

Obviously tigers-amos is just some werribee supporter having a bit of a laugh at everyone getting sucked into his comments. If any player at any club wrote comments like that regardless of how good there team is i would say that they would get a slap across the wrists. Keep up the good work tigers-amos. I for one am finding it very amusing at how easy some people are roped in. Cheers!

Tips for this week:

Aquinas over Werribee - bounce back from bad kicking and win in the slop.
Williamstown over Bentleigh - I hope for their sake they can get a win here and get the ball rolling.
Sth Melb over Glen Eira - will be closer than everyone thinks. From what I hear the game style of both teams will be the contest.
Leos over Salesian - Salesian at home, doesn't matter!
Banyule over St. Johns - Too easy, watch for Braddy, bound to kick a bag!

Cheers

Good week on the thread..

My tips after getting a couple wrong last week

Emmaus St Leos over Salesian
Aquinas over Werribee
South Melb over Glen Eira
Bentleigh over Willy
St Johns v Banyule

Both Aquinas and Werribee missing 6 blokes atleast but Aquinas will pull through

The wet weather might keep the margins pretty close though.

Cheers

A loss for the Cys this week would mean 0-4 and a big struggle for us to stay in contention. I believe the wet weather will make for some close, hard-fought struggles, probably even some upsets along the way. Will also be interesting to see how the fragile playing surfaces handle the wet conditions and what this means for games in the next few weeks.
How's the condition of the Aquinas ground at the minute?

Superb! My office is onlooking the oval. The ground was reconstructed at the end of the year to make it more durable and a bit more sand based therefore it drains the water better and with the schools facilities and money, we have been able to water it in the summer, so 3 praccy matches, school footy and 1 home game, the ground still looks great. Today there is a bit of water around as you could imagine but doesn't seem to be sitting on the top. How are other grounds?

We are away this week, but the temporary ground we are using (Crofts Res, Altona Nth) this season is in excellent condition. Very lush...it also was watered throughout summer, unlike the Fearon Reserve, our true home, which is a sad sight at present.

I will vouch for the Aquinas surface, best I have seen this year, and will hold up well. A lot of work has obviously been done on it, and is paying dividends.
