What do people think about Jono Healys comments in this weeks Amateur Footballer that Tom Brain should expect to see some players from the Glen Eira V South Melbourne game at the tribunal on Tuesday Night.

He did the same thing last year when we played Salesian and the umpires came out and over umpired from the first bounce and ruined the game.

i would be hoping the umpires don't pay much attention to anything mr healy has to say, or read it all...otherwise they might be influenced by what they read, sub-consciously or otherwise.

having never seen SMD play i can't comment on them but the Saints are no thugs. coming from different divisions i wouldnt imagine much bad blood between the two either. what do the south melbourne boys think?

Too right YoungBlood, the guy talks so much trash, some people believe it. I have no idea where he gets his info from, and is there any past history between these teams? Glen Eira are a pretty disciplined side and aren't dirty, can't speak for a few guys over the fence! Healy's writing should report some truths but as a coach you would rock up with 5 taggers from guys who have blitzed the week before wouldn't you? Maybe he should jump on the forum! Although his article would be called the Werribee Section!

There is no bad blood between us and Glen Eira, quite the opposite, we have a number of guys that know a fair few of the Glen Eira boys. Will be played in good spirits, no reports will come out of the game.
Glen Eira are actually a CBC St Kilda old boys team and we have about 10 ex CBC guys playing for us.

As reserves coach of SMD this season I have written to Jono to try to explain how damageing his comments could be in regards to the tribunal.
We know too well that our reputation isn't the greatest but Gez, Earl and I are doing our best to improve our standing with the VAFA and competitor clubs while maintaining the hardness South Melbourne sides are renowned for.

I look forward to a hard fought, fair contest with GE tomorrow and hope many of the GE boys stick around for a bevy or 4 after the game.

Good Luck to all clubs tomorrow, the weather will definately even things out, I may even be able to get a kick myself! Betting on rainy days is frought with danger so I'll leave the wallet at home this week.

Obviously i'm only speculating but if he was serious about following the goings on in D2 i'm sure he'd be a semi-regular if not regular reader of this forum. Could understand why he wouldn't identify himself if he was posting, but what's wrong with a little journalistic responsibility?

Reveal yourself Healy!

Our President also said last night he would be writing to Jono, we have only had one player suspended in the last year and his comments are irresponsible.

Look forward to tomorrows game and a few beers after.

Dont worry to much Harper, Im sure Rodney we still be able to find you to give you and Souths the quota of free kicks for the game.

What's Up at Old Paradians, boy have they gone downhill the last few years??

Wrong grade they are in d1. I noticed Dave Gayfer kicked 7 for Banyule last week, this bloke is a serious footballer with a super set of hands . Are banyule sneaking under the radar after no one in the pre season picked them to do anything?

i think you could attribute that to the fact that Banyule don't have much of a presence on these boards, and only St Leos could say what they were like from last season. Banyule are definitely looking strong early after some bad times in recent years, though a few more weeks will paint a clearer picture.

COme on harper dont be so hard on yourself, with your Leroy Jetta type pace you get kicks at will

i hope you stay there a few more weeks harper, the FP is my preferred position, i wouldn't mind a bit of BigFooty rivalry on field!

Hasn't been much talk about Banyule on this thread. They were pretty impressive on Saturday. Having said that, losing 2 of our talls in the 1Q did not help our cause  . Should've been in front at 1/2 time but for a soft goal on the siren  . Boys fought on gamely, and a win is not too far away  . But Banyule are definitely a big flag chance at this early stage.

I was quick to say that following last weekend's performance, I thought Banyule looked super-impressive.

Cheers saints, i'm starting in the BP so get there early and watch me tear up the oval at such pace all GE will see is a red and white blur!

Harper - Catch up with you after the game for chat and a beverage. Could be beer but Terry from Aquinas gave me a Bundy last week ... It was required after our first half  . See you there.

Slothout.

As someone watching this from a far and enjoying the banter, I would say the the fool seems to be Cunningham. You say he kicked 4.4? So how many will he kick this week and the week after? Not many I imagine from the wrong side of the fence.

As for 2's beating 1's. Anyone with half a football brain knows that there is a big gap inbetween no matter how much you might win the 2's by.

mate ur a spanner.. get ur facts straight.. the bloke who kicked 4.4 will be playing this week.. but his brother who was only defending himself against the frustrated old man wont be playing.. i saw the incident and its a discrace fishlock got off.. his view was blocked of his man and he cracked it and elbow m.cunningham in the chops.. as any man would cunningham stuck up for himself.. he is the bigger man here knowing he did strike fishcock and took the 2.. fishcock goes to the tribunal and lies.. clearly lies.. if he told the truth he'd be running water this week..sounds like u had a few beers in you while enjoying ur banter and u have no idea what you are talking about..

Fish told Cunningham at the tribunal he'd make sure he gets off.....
Ya know, you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours....
Cunningham, the idiot, still chose to accept the 2 weeks, and Fish thought, 'Oh well, may as well try...."

Obviously Cunningham isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.....making him a 'spanner' maybe????

yep, clearly I'm the dirty footballer.....
During the game I thought a Werribee player got kicked in the head, and I was the only person to check up on him.....not even his own teammates came over to help him.....
Call me a 'dirty c**t'......you don't even know who I am, MORON!

Cunningham didn't 'have the balls' to accept the 2 weeks....he accepted them thinking it'd save him the trip to Elsternwick from Werribee.....not even stopping to think that he'd have to go anyway for Fish's hearing.
