Didnt notice that goal or any remonstration - hope it was close anyhow as ressies umpire cheating is poor form.

Dont know about No 59 either - Im guessing referral to physical presence means he's a key position player or big at least. No-one from Leos would go near him is crap too as the game was a slog - scores in the 50's - and most defenders were break even at least.

I do agree with one thing though and that your 1's team could prob use another tall - be it forward or back
i saw 59 on at least 6 occasions run hard and straight thru packs and no-one wanted to tackle him, just ask number 22 for leos and the guy with the dreads,im not talking him up just like the way he plays...

Fair enough - I just didnt see it myself

Hope he gets promoted then to help Glen Eira along

If they can beat Banyule this week it would be a great result for us

should be a few changes this week at eira,a few bigs coming bak to the side cant wait to watch this one,and the ressies should knock banyule off...

Im very surprised nothing has been said yet about the SMD v Bentleigh game, and im not meaning football wise. I think Bentleigh really let themselves down on the w/e from king hitting a bloke behind play, constant rib punches in front of the umps, and the worst of them all a couple of there fans verbally abusing and threatening one of our lady supporters. Really takes a big man to threaten a lady and try and stand over her. Just hope Bentleigh step in and remove these people from there games and all associatiuon with there club.
There has now been two incidents off field in 2 weeks that really is making the league look sub par. VAFA is meant to be a friendly family environment, lets keep it that way.

How was the turn out at training last night Harper? It was very cold im sure a few would of stayed away.
Can it now be confirmed that the reigning Best and Fairest Joel Washington will be back this week?

Disappointing to hear all that, saints. On a positive note, let me say that the Willy v. Salesians match last Saturday was played in an excellent spirit, and the umpiring whilst not perfect, at least had no bearing on the outcome.

Agree totally saints, it seems that some of the clubs involved in these type of incidents are clubs newish to the VAFA. Is it a mentaliaty of some of these clubs who come in from other leagues that their supporters don't understand what the ammo comp is trying to display? I know that South have had some trouble with this in the past and are now really trying to clean up their act, and have done so well this year. Should more be done to try and stop these incidents happening?

better than expected turn up a training last night saints with most of the boys excelling in our "time trail" style of run to kick things off. Simm beat Brachhi by about 5 seconds having lapped me just over half way (I didn't wear the #7).

Cannot confirm any news about last years BnF, couldn't understand Gezza's comment about Joel. It was either "Joel will be back in 2 (weeks)" or "Joel will come back through the 2's". Will know more on Thursday.

As for Bentleigh, I'll stick with Mum's rule of if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything. Although I must congratulate their 2's coach and players who battled hard, played fair and were humble in defeat.

Interesting, can't see many of the Bentleigh Boys "king hitting anyone"...

Heard you boys dished out a bit of your own on their captain, Robertson.. though?

Would you like to comment Mr. Saints?

They had a time trial, glad i didnt train then!
You would think he may have to come through the 2's after so long out but who knows. There is a spot there for him with another few injuries on the w/e.

I didn’t see the king hit so I can’t comment on that one. As for the rib punches, if they were in front of the umpire, wouldn’t they have been penalised if they were serious enough?
As for the fans verbally abusing a ‘lady’ supporter, I assume you mean the same ‘lady’ supporters who were bagging out our players all day.
What our fans said to your ‘lady’ supporters was no worse than what they were shouting out over the fence and I’m sure they have thick enough skins to handle it. Anyway, crowd banter is part of the appeal of the sport.
As for suggesting that these fans should be banned from attending matches, all they did was shout out from a footy crowd.
It’s not as if they did something feral like throw chairs at tribunal members.

Still bringing up the chair throw, thats only cause the tribunal absolutely f***ed us over.

As for the incident on the w/e from all reports i heard and that includes from some Bentleigh people he was out of line and alot wish he had of got what he had coming cause i heard a few SMD supporters stepped up and he S**t himself.

Doesnt matter how bad you get bent over by the tribunal. Throwing a chair at them is childish and very embarrasing i would assume. Disgusting. But that was last year and this is this year so lets move on everyone. Every club has their feral supporters. At Banyule one goose told the Aquinas supporters to leave and that it was "his" ground. Very amusing. The SMD boys seem to be flying ansd will prob start favorites against Aquinas. Should be a cracker match! Make sure all the SMD big footy people come in for a beer or 12 after the match. Good luck to everyone else this week.

Doesn't quite justify what he did though.

He might have been out of line, like I said I didn't see it.
But I can assure you he never seemed to be worried about what the South supporters may or may not have done, unless of course they were armed with furniture.

I think you can safely say he "F**cked" himself over... deserved what he got... Bentleigh's captain is #5, you can't miss him... can play all around the ground!

also you saying:

i heard a few SMD supporters stepped up and he S**t himself.

did you also hear:

that the cow jumped over the moon...

my point is, don't believe everything you hear!

Well said, time to move on. Thanks for the invite on Saturday, I'm looking forward to a huge couple of games out at Ringers on the WE and meeting yourself and my fellow Donkey Flogger, Youngblood over a few cold ones.

Can't wait to see how we travel against the flag favourites,

perhaps we need to encourage more 2s discussion harper, massive game for both 1s and 2s out at aquinas this weekend!

A player from SMD charged at a Bentleigh player who put his elbow up to protect himself. The SMD player ran straight into his elbow and knocked himself out!

Not exactly a 'King hit' unless they have changed the meaning?

Always happy to talk 2's Youngblood, I will keep my cards close to my chest in regards to any plans I may hatch this week as I'm sure your coach will.

I'm considering a reserve grade thread in the future as rabs2000 and daniel culinen from the B section thread lamented last week about the lack of 2's talk around BF and The Amateur Footballer. Then again I already spend too much time on here.

From the evidence you just gave, the Bent player should of recieved weeks!!!

Maybe not a 'king hit' but not legal in my book.

Great to see Dean Bell behind the goals supporting SMD & verbally abusing Bentleigh players. Good job at cleaning up your act Districts. As for the niggle around the packs, well I think that it went both ways & it is a mans game so lets get on with it.

Corect he did run at him to shepard away from another player and the Bentleigh player ran toward him and then elbowed him so if thats knocking yourself out then i stand mistaken.

well this is a good observation from some who was around 50m away on the other side of the fence as a player who was standing a meter away from the incident the south player (#30 I think) was trying to get under the skin of the bloke and was fended off with a bump which lead to the Bentleigh players should hitting the bottom of the south players jaw. The south player then fell to the ground and was unable to get back up. The incident was just plan unlucky! You would have thought it would have stopped there but two south players #11 and #5 decided to be heroes when they didn’t even see the incident and they proceeded to cause a minor fracas which ended with a Bentleigh player being scratched and pulled by the hair.

As for the feral Bentleigh supporters I didn’t witness the incident in question but i did hear the female south supporters and for old ladies they have very foul mouths, no wonder they ended up getting abuse.

Dean Bell is a champion bloke who made 1 mistake and he's paying for it. Does that mean he cant come and watch his mates and support them. When he has something verbal to say he says it to the players not to other supporters.

Cant wait until Deano is back next year. Slot straight in at Full Back.
