well this is a good observation from some who was around 50m away on the other side of the fence as a player who was standing a meter away from the incident the south player (#30 I think) was trying to get under the skin of the bloke and was fended off with a bump which lead to the Bentleigh players should hitting the bottom of the south players jaw. The south player then fell to the ground and was unable to get back up. The incident was just plan unlucky! You would have thought it would have stopped there but two south players #11 and #5 decided to be heroes when they didn’t even see the incident and they proceeded to cause a minor fracas which ended with a Bentleigh player being scratched and pulled by the hair.

As for the feral Bentleigh supporters I didn’t witness the incident in question but i did hear the female south supporters and for old ladies they have very foul mouths, no wonder they ended up getting abuse.

Kidding yourself mate, if it was that simple he would not of got knocked out. So your saying you were playing, which one were you? I remember seeing number 1 and 2 from Bentleigh there.

he just got him in a sweet spot there was no malice in the incident at all it was just pure bad luck. thats not a bad memory cause i was one of those two.

Dean Bell is a champion bloke who made 1 mistake and he's paying for it. Does that mean he cant come and watch his mates and support them. When he has something verbal to say he says it to the players not to other supporters.

Cant wait until Deano is back next year. Slot straight in at Full Back.

You're kidding aren't you? The bloke outside Barcode also made 'one mistake' the other day. Does that mean he should be forgiven?

I'm not saying Dean is in that bloke's category, but his mistake was a pretty big one and there is no way he should ever be allowed back in the VAFA after that performance.

You honestly reckon he should be forgiven from assaulting tribunal members and smashing frames at the tribunal while people who shout in a crowd should be banned?

And yes, it does mean he shouldn't be allowed to come and support his mates. He should never come anywear near a VAFA game ever again, and I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Agree totally saints, it seems that some of the clubs involved in these type of incidents are clubs newish to the VAFA. Is it a mentaliaty of some of these clubs who come in from other leagues that their supporters don't understand what the ammo comp is trying to display? I know that South have had some trouble with this in the past and are now really trying to clean up their act, and have done so well this year. Should more be done to try and stop these incidents happening?

Well put game on. It was the first year I have been to a SMD game and found it a great day. The club has done a great job if it needed to be cleaned up and look forward to the next visit. Its quite ironic that the only bad supporters we have come across this year were the Bentleigh ladies with the SFL mentality, leaning on the fence!

Mate you cant compare it to what happened in the city the other day. That was cold blooded murder. Shame on you for even comparing it to that, but i do know you didnt mean it to sound like that.

If he assaulted tribunal members would he of not been charged with assualt by the police. I agree with you that he should not of done it, he pays for it every tuesday, thursday and saturday. He did miss out on winning a premiership last year. Now thats the ultimate penalty in football terms.

He will he back and im sure we wont see a repeat of that incedent again.

I notice that on the VAFA website under 'clubs' that SMD are still advertised as being in D3.

Is this an Omen for the future!

No its not. I think we are almost mathematically safe from the drop. Our aim from here should be D1, but there are 4 or 5 very good chances to do that. Its going to be a facsinating finish to the season.

A very close season and not halfway through it yet.

5 teams fighting for the four. 5 teams fighting against relegation.

Mind you, anything is still possible.

how could you even compare it to something where a man lost his life trying to protect a women from being assaulted that is one of the lowest things i have ever heard on here

Im very surprised nothing has been said yet about the SMD v Bentleigh game, and im not meaning football wise. I think Bentleigh really let themselves down on the w/e from king hitting a bloke behind play, constant rib punches in front of the umps, and the worst of them all a couple of there fans verbally abusing and threatening one of our lady supporters. Really takes a big man to threaten a lady and try and stand over her. Just hope Bentleigh step in and remove these people from there games and all associatiuon with there club.
There has now been two incidents off field in 2 weeks that really is making the league look sub par. VAFA is meant to be a friendly family environment, lets keep it that way.

Next time you visit Bentleigh's home ground have a look directly opposite the grandstand and you will see a group outside the fence, having a drink. Towards the end of the firsts they come into the ground and get quite feral. They are beating the no grog rule by being outside the fence. Bentleigh should put a stop to this, this is not the SFL.

watched smd vs banyule a couple of weeeks ago and banyule were terrible surely not top 4 seconds looked ordinary aswell and to win flags thats what you need depth blokes in the magoos putting pressure on the snr blokes

If you'd bothered to read past the first line of what I wrote before getting on your high horse, you'd have noticed I said I wasn't comparing it.

I just pointed to an example where you can't presume someone innocent because they only made one mistake.

Worst call of the year - even if you did back pedal after the comment. Typing your response gives you a chance to consider what you say. I happen to be connected to the bloke who died. Have some tact.

from all reports the bloke sounds like a true gentlemen and you comparing his death to a tribunal incident where a chair or two gets thrown or comparing dean to the bloke that shot him is just low thats what im saying and deano knows what he done was the wrong thing missed out on a flag last year and possibly another this year

Nup, you still don't get it.
Anyone else want to have a go at spelling it out for this bloke?

I can't believe all the negatives that are being posted. Talking about a player that is not playing this year and about ferral supporters. Let's get off all this crap and get back to what REALLY matters- FOOTBALL.
One more round to go before half way mark. Lets see where all the sides end up after this week and make predictions for the end of year.

I predict Salesian and Glen Eira for relegation.

Werribee vs Emmaus St Leos in Granny. Werribee to win.

Having played nearly every side I predict a south vs werribee grand final if both teams play at their best every week they would dominate the competition

Would love to see Werribee in granny. Big test for the Bees this week against St Leos at Soldiers. A few out for Werribee this week and this will test the depth. The two's on top of ladder and this will give an opportunity for some of those bloke to have an impact in the ones.
I do'n believe Glen Eira will be relegated.

he destroyed the vafa headquarters basically if he was from any other club apart from yours you guys would be on the other side of the fence
he is not from my club mate have mates down there.... also have mates at willy, glen eira, bentleigh and werribee and i was one of the first to tell him that it was wrong and stupid thing to do i was just stating that you cant compare what he done to the shootings in the city and if thats not what he wanted to do then dont post it.......

I am looking forward to see how we go against Aquinas this w/e, the only team we have not played and they are apparently a sharp outfit.

Of the sides we played Werribee were the best and St Leos were not that bad. Also Willy are very good young side, they will be close next year.

To be relegated i would say Bentleigh and Salesian are the teams to go.

I will let you know after this w/e who i think will play us in the Grand Final. I would say at the moment Werribee but as i said have not seen Aquinas play.

Haven't seen Aquinas first hand as of yet but by all reports and if you believe the pre-season hype they are the ones to beat. Second on the ladder, maybe on top if they can knock off the blooders this week going into the 2nd half of the home and aways, Aquinas are looking good.

Werribee have a stack of talent running deep into the reserves team, have beaten SMD at Werribee and will be hungry for a flag. The scariest thing about the tigers is that I reckon their 2's could beat all 1's teams outside the top four so injuries, suspensions and the like are unlikely to hamper their September preparations.

SMD have the best run of home games in the second half of the season with 6 out of the last 8 (I think) at home where they have not lost since 2005. September plans could be derailed if injuries hit as we saw in rounds 5 and 6 the SMD 2's are fragile when the better players are called upon to play 1's indicating a lack of depth.

Then daylight!

I don't think SM have played a solid 4 quaters yet, at best we've played a good half. This of course has positives and negatives - we obviously have alot more to offer but will we/can we put it together?

Having not yet seen Aquinas play I'll hold off my GF prediction, however I think St Leo's have the most to offer as the season progresses. The Bees are a solid side - but I odn;t think there is much more room for improvement.

Willy seem to be a better side than their ladder position however they argue amongst themselves more than any other team. If they can gel I'd say the Demons and Salesian to fill the cellar.
