Phantom, are the supporters that you are relating to, 2's players??? I was there from start to finish and didn't hear any of that from anyone. Can I say that if anyone has an issue, can they let the 1's bench know as they will certainly make sure that it is extinguished. I know that the Club is responding to any complaints. I do know that some players get a bit boisterious, but if its brought to the attention of the Club they have said that it will be dealt with.

Yeah good point....A lot of supporters yell out....and give playful abuse....which is all fine....but once it turns to swearing in front of kids (as mentioned on here earlier) then it's just gone too far...and the people doing it should be ashamed of themselves.

That's good to hear WEST.....would like to see this work, and for more clubs to start doing this....
Allow for the usual stuff.....we don't want complete silence around the ground or anything...
but once it gets over the top then settle them down and get them in order.

But now it seems umpires are taking it into their own hands....Last year we had an ump pay a free kick "against the man on the hill" for shouting out.....a bit bizzare, not only because he was a spectator.....but also because he wasn't even swearing....
I was told that our Under 19s had a similar incident on the weekend also....
Wonder how that'd show up on the stats sheet....

Well, having witnessed many many strange decisions from Ammos umps over the years, I am not surprised that they would pay a free against someone in the crowd. Absolutely farcical, but not surprising.
Every club, including ours, has its share of idiot supporters....an unfortunate fact of life...On more than one occasion I have seen umpires "turn" against teams as a direct result of abuse from spectators...

Well yes GE Saint i do think that a comment like that made in front of woman, children etc shouldn't be tolerated. Like WEST said the club is and has been dealing with a few bad eggs and hopefully we can be remembered for our on field actions rather than our off. We as a club are one of the few that make an effort to stick around and have a few friff froffs. Lets just say people like the all conquering Mr West will be speaking to a few lads tonight who may need to watch thier p's and q's.

As I said 3 weeks ago when we played you, I think your club is doing good things on the field and the committee seems to be working hard to make the club better. Its a shame a few d**kheads spoil it for the rest of the club.

Werribee players had a meeting last night with Umpires co-ordinator and the umpire that we had last Saturday against Glen Eira. They explained some of the contentious decisions and some of the Rules. Was great to hear that umpires are human and make mistakes. What was also interesting was that if you mouth off you can bet that the next 50/50 you won't get the nod. Suffice to say what ever the decision is accept it and get on with it. They did say that if you believe that the decisions on the day were off, let the Umpire co-ordinator know. Really good stuff.

All they will always say is what you wanna hear. The co-ordinator spoke to us at the start of the year about things you could and couldnt do and promising the world. They never follow through with what they say.

the two bolded points are very rarely heard from a supporter/footballers mouth.
umpires are human and will make mistakes... whilst everyone likes to be perfect its going to happen, umpires view will be blocked on occassions, or due to having only 2 umpires they may get caught out of position obstructing there view.

the second point you make is something that very few people will ever understand. at the end of the day, right or wrong, the umpires decision will not change. its fine to question, but arguing just gets you no where.

My tips for this week

St Leos to get over Bentleigh by 20 points,
SMD by 40 plus over Salesian
Werribee by 10pts over Banyule in a massive show down
Aquinas to get revenge on GE - 45 pts

and

Willy over St Johns - 2 goals - another tough one to call.

I'll see what J Healey picks tonite

i might be wrong but i think you have a couple of matches wrong....Aquinas are hosting St Johns this weekend, not glen eira. still, happy to take a 45 point win :p

werribee will struggle on banyules ground if it is wet and rainy...its like playing on slippery clay and you cant get any grip,so wear ur screwins.GE are at will and it should be a good game.
