Aside from the great onfield performance of SMD on the weekend, I'd like to point out how good it was to have the Tiger lads join us in significant numbers for a beer after the game. It would have been easy to go straight home. That is the sort of sportsmanship our clubs need. Most clubs have been very good in this regard all year. Thanks guys - great work.

YB, I had 22 blokes commit to a fairly basic game plan, the kudos must go to the players for believing they could pull it off and the way in which they played. We had no passengers.
Away games have been a battle this year especially rounds 5 (Werribee) and 9 (Aquinas) where very under manned teams have struggled mentally and physically to match it with the top two. I think we turned the page on that chapter of the season at half time against GE and carried it into Saturdays match.
Looking forward to seeking revenge on Willy this week, then our mortal enemy Bentleigh then another huge test against Aquinas. But first we put in another solid week on the track.

In a strange way I feel some how feel responsible about waking up the bear which was SMD in the 2's :). Agreed it was a massive turnaround on the previous time you guys met . So there is the proof I needed that you were actually listening when we spoke about Werribee last week Harps :D !
In other results in the 2's the one that had me confused was Bentleigh smacking Banyule ? Did Wanke (#1) play for Banyule on the weekend ? Can McAdam41 enlightened us ?

It was a weird one in the 2s....Bentleigh just stayed strong all game, instead of falling away like last time.
The ex-president played, and kicked 5 goals after doing his back and being placed in the forward line...Not sure about #1, can't remember seeing him out there.
As for the 1s, it was a great effort, especially with Mikkelson and Sharp pulling out at the last minute....Robbo dominated as usual, kicking 7....and the young team we put on the park were just too good at the end of the day....
It's good to finally string two wins together.

Can anyone shed any light on the reports for Banyule and Bentleigh?
For clarity it is 2 Banyule players who have been reported. One appeared to be a jumper punch or abuse? & the other was a case of the wrong guy being reported which is lucky cos from my vantage point the act itself was deserving of a number of weeks. All things considered would expect both guys to get off

Bentleigh fielded it's strongest reserves side for most of the year & just simply played a good solid team game. Yes Wanke(r) played for Banyule. Geez I hope he can fight cos the Bentleigh boys were urged to remain disciplined against his & 17's sniping

well done harps well coached mate, our boys just didnt want to play footy and well you guys did well done and hope to see you in the finals.

dont no about those hot dogs .......... but the potato cakes done the trick... :):):):):):):) considering i had about 6

Went to a meeting last night at the ammo's and it looks as though the D2 finals will be held between Sportscover Arena and Chelt.

Week 1

Semi - 3 v 4 @ Chelt on Sat

Week 2
Prelim - @ Chelt on Sat

Week 3
Grand Final @ Chelt on Sat

Only a guess though.

Nah, the first week of final will be played on a Saturday and Sunday, cause they wouldn't have 1's and 2's teams playing at seperate grounds on the same day......

Yes that is right but the semi between 3 v 4 is on the sunday at Sportcover.

Have we by passed the last 3 rounds & jumped straight into the finals? If so, looks like I missed Mad Monday. Why don't we put the finals talk on hold & get back to a big round of matches this week.

Who is everyone tipping this week?

My tips for this weekend -

Bentleigh to upset Aquinas
Sout Melbourne easy over Willi
Glen Ira to beat St Johns
St Leos to over Banyule
Werribee to bounce back at home over Salesian

i'm going for all the home sides

bentleigh over aquinas.aquinas won't be able to handle the ground.the smell of the centre pitch will put them off

willi to beat SMD.SMD put all their efforts into beating werribee last week and won't be able to back up especially at will's home ground. SMD do not travel well especially when they have to cross west gate bridge

glen eira to trounce st.johns.ge very good at home and won't want to be relegated

banyule over leos.must win for banyule to reach the finals.

werribee to bounce back over salesian.some changes this week will see how some of the boys from 2's perform in heat of battle

Bentleigh vs Aquinas should be a cracker given Bentleigh were only a missed kick after the siren away from victory 1st time around

SMD to hand an undermanned Willi a hiding

Glen Eira over St Johns in a physical encounter

Banyule seem to be hometrack bullies & should get up but neither side is playing great footy at the business end. 3 weeks for one of them to stand up or be bundled out in the 1st week of finals

Werribee to hit back hard against Salesian but should be a good contest given Salesian's recent form. Good sides don't lose 2 on the trot

Wont be able to back up or you dont think they will back it up?
I think all sides travelling records would be about the same. Every side prefers their home ground.

Aquinas over Bentleigh - will be very competitive however

SMD to get the 4 pts @ Willy - last week an ominous sign for SMD opponents

Werribee too quick for Salesian - a high standarrd game here but the Bees are devastating at home - will make Salesian a rough fixture in last 2 rounds if they lose this one.

Glen Eira - last 2 weeks are mighty impressive. Big win coming up over St Johns who havent won away from home and wont this week.

Finally - St Leos. We want to play finals and this win will clinch it. I'll say we start some good form this week.

Cheers

In the 2's - Werribee, Aquinas, SMD in a close one, St Johns (travelling nicely) and St Leos just

Apologies to Port Colts players, should of done my homework before giving you all a whack.
AEOM, Kealy would be the first to admit that he sets himself up to be potted by blokes that don't get to see him play with some of the things he says on public footy forums but I can assure you that Saturdays effort was NOT his first good game for the districts this year and the fact that he continues to walk into the 1's team after a horror year with a problem hammy is evidence of his value to the side. As reserves coach I would love it if he was dropped back, I have coached him once this year and watched him kick 4 second half goals to get us over the line, I doubt he'll play reserves again.
As for Luke Niemi, Fez is a quality bloke who knows if he has a problem with selection Gerard is more than happy to talk about it. All the players and staff at the districts are 100% behind Gez and his decisions, his record speaks for itself and Werribee are the latest team to find out what a quality coach he is and club the districts are. Not sure how happy Fez would be with you telling complete strangers about a private phone call anyway.

come on mate if ya know luke hes a quiet guy and would never speak up!! i just have to lisern to him complain all week and tell me how next yeah wont be the same!! any way as i said im happy for ya to bench him just makes next year more exciting for me!! also mite add that blokes making a joke of it at training didnt make him feel to much at home!!

How are Will Cooper and Craig Taylor going? Will either be back this year?

Will Cooper played in the Reserves in rd 12 @ Werribee, his first game since doing his knee in rd 3. Not sure that he will be back this season.
Continuing this season's theme of injuries striking down our best players, Craig Taylor dislocated his elbow against Banyule in rd 13 (a horrible sight) and will not play again this season.
Bocce, you are a very brave man to tip Willy to beat SMD this Sat. We hope to be competitive, but surely SMD's confidence would be sky-high after the mauling they gave Werribee last week.
But, I suppose football's a funny game....
