Prahran will go back up.
Agreed. I'd like it to be the Hoes because we finished third but logic would say that other teams have indirectly been penalised in playing against Peninsula last year when they never should have been in that division.
Therfore Prahran should stay up if that makes sense.
Not happy because instead of having a nice trip to Prahran we've got to go all the way down to peninsula.
its a pity garrard goes off tap sometimes because he really can play decent footy. i saw him in the d4 grand final in 2007 against uhsvu & he singlehandedly kept the turtles in it until 3/4 time. think he ended up with 7 goals from memory...
im with you, akka. id like to know more about whats happened as well.
ive also heard a rumour theyre trying to entice the number 35 for a couple of seasons as well seeing he started there 22-23 years ago.
any truth in this??

no typo mate the letter and the email i got said d2 but i did hear some info about the agm 2morrow morning club is worried that being in d3 that alot of players will walkout not play next year

PENINSULA OLD BOYS FOOTBALL CLUB
Dear Player/Supporter,
We advise that last night, 16 September 2008, the VAFA conducted a hearing of a charge of conduct unbecoming involving our club. The specific charge related to an allegation that our coach, Mark Glenn, in season 2006, did breach his amateur status by receiving payment exceeding the amount allowed whilst a playing coach.
Following considerable discussion the Committee reached the view that we should not contest the charge and we therefore appeared at the hearing last night to explain the circumstances surrounding Mark playing in season 2006.
Following the hearing the VAFA has imposed a penalty which means that we will be drawn to play in D2 in season 2009.
As a result the committee considers that it is appropriate for the players and supporters of the club be given the opportunity to receive more detail surrounding these circumstances.
Therefore we have called an extraordinary general meeting to be held at the Mt Eliza Country Club this Saturday 20 September 2008 at 10.00am to enable those discussions to take place. You are invited to attend the meeting.

It is with regret that I inform the VAFA community that Peninsula OB were found guilty of conduct unbecoming a club of the Association in that Mark Glenn did allegedly infringe his amateur status when playing ten senior VAFA matches in 2006 as a playing coach.
Peninsula OB will be drawn to play in Section D2 in 2009.
Peninsula OB conducted themselves with complete honesty and integrity during the investigation process.
The composition of Section D1 and indeed all other sections will be finalised at the Board seminar on October 26 2008.

Phantom, it's all over the D1 thread and now on the VAFA website, but basically in 2006 the coach was paid as a non-playing coach but ended up deciding to play halfway through the year and still paid at the same rate.
