Well what an interesting lot of results from the weekend, a couple a upsets along with a couple of tight games. Just proves that this competition may be closer than first thought. Still, only early days yet
Bentleigh may have surprised a few on the weekend, including the D2 scribe with an upset at home against the Glen Eira, who were coming off a great win. Glen Eira may have a few to come back though as their reserves only just fielded a team. So we can t right off the Saints just yet.
SMS & Old Westbourne looked to have had a great tussle at Ferndale with the visitors coming away with the points. A win maybe just around the corner for SMS, but are coming up against heavily backed favourite Banyule who are coming off a shock loss
OPs notched up there first win against St Leos with the veteran Brabender kicking 5, a great effort. He must be like a good wine, just keeps getting better with age.
In another close game Eltham were lucky to hold off a determined Therry Penola, who looked to have maybe replaced Bannister with a new spearhead in McWhinney?, kicking 7.
Prahran had the upset of the round for mine defeating Banyule. Banyule were my flag favourites at the start of the year (not the that means much) so this is a shock loss for them. Or could it be that Prahran just outplayed them a their big ground.
A tipsters nightmare this round with early results depicting a closer comp than expected, maybe we'll have to wait until things settle down a little, to see who breaks away
