Have I missed something this season but where is the lower divivion rep squad? Why only the one team?

Don't believe there is a C-D4 Game this year, dissapointing for some of the players but at the same time, good to have a week off..
The squad's for all games are on the link below -

David Boundy from Old Parade is the only player named, terrific effort to be named in the 47 man VAFA Squad to face AFL Sydney. Comes as no real surprise though, the bloke has played 50 plus Senior VFL Games, is hardened but chose to go play with he's mates and good on him.
The only rep squad not announced so far, is 23's, prob due to the fact it is around 2 months away, squad may get announced mid June...
SUN 18 JULY: VAFA Under 23 v Tasmania Under 23 @ Ulverstone Oval, Ulverstone TAS
There may be a couple of blokes named in this squad from D2 ???
Ant Hickey and Foxy Beluzar were named the other year from ESL and did a very good job I believe.
Cheers
Jake Truefeldt from Banyule is in the Under 19 squad

Fair enough, don't get me wrong I know a number of players look forward to the weeks break but also know that when I used to represent my league it was something to be proud of and look forward to. With the Ammo comp being so large and that many divisions I don't think it is really fair on the C - D4 sections.
Understand Boundy has played 50 + VFL games but do you think that really any of the selectors have made their way down to watch him this year or he has got in the squad on his name? If they had of made their way to a game or two we may possible have more than 1 representative from D2. In saying that I also understand that the division above obviously have some great players running around which is why I think they need to keep the old set up.
You make some terrific points.
It is dissapointing that the game ain't on, obviously those at HQ's don't think much about the concept at that level, which is a shame..
I personally don't believe they have been out to watch any D2 games in picking the senior rep squad, they know of he's football resume and that he is a very good player / good bloke and are happy to put him in there squad, im pretty sure he will make the final 22.
However, Is there anyone that you believe has been overlooked for that squad who is good enough from what you may have seen this year ? ?
As was mentioned, one young fella made the 19's squad from the mighty Banyule Bears, and there SHOULD be some young players possibly selected in the 23's squad in a month's time...
As for the other poster asking why aren't ESL going so good even with 2 ex vafa 23 players...For starters Hickey has been playing great footy and foxy beluzar has been out injured, played he's first game back in the 1's last weekend and did very well. They have also got ballard back in the ruck, he will be better for the run and im sure ESL will get up the table !![]()

insert the baranello brothers, and their a tough side to beat at full strength!
St Leo’s V Eltham – Eltham have been better than good, but the Animals have a few coming back and are hard to beat on their own turf. BTW what odds could you have got pre-season for STL being in relegation territory after 5 games? STL just.
SMS V Bentleigh – Having seen both teams, this will be a lot closer than you might think. Bentleigh run deeper than SMS but SMS best are very high class.
Bentleigh by 20pts
OP V Therry – The under achievers vs the over achievers...Everyon's pre season favorites vs the predicted "struggler"...but so far nothing's gone to script. If the Raiders can't win this one -at home ..then Therry are the real deal.OPs by 5pts
Glen Eira V Banyule – The Bears juggernaut continues, but meets a Sainter team who held their nerve last week after looking like they were going to be run all over.Hard to tip against a team with a % in the 200's ..so the Bears by 12pts
OW V Prahran – Just as we all thought OW were falling off the pace , they towel up the Raiders. Prahran on the other hand have lost their last 2 -but their 2 wins so far are over Banyule (1st) and Eltham (3rd) .WTF??? Home team..OW by 3 points
long time reader.
Yes Crazy they will be two massive games on the weekend. I would probably say that Banyule will get the chocolates at home.
There are some other big games this week.
Prahan V St Leos at Prahan. Huge game. Both teams have shown little apart for the draw for St Leo's and the upset over Banyule for Prahan. Both teams were soundly beaten on the weekend. So much hype about St Leo's so it will be interesting to see if they produce. At Toorak park- best ground in the league so no excuses.
Therry V Glen Eira at Therry- Chance for Therry to Cement 4th spot and be 2 games clear of Glen Eira. Glen Eira after being smacked by Eltham have had two close games at home so are showing form. I think from memory Glen Eira beat Therry at home last year which was the first time ever. Glen Eira need to win to keep in top four contention.
OP V St Mary's at OP's- If OPs loose this then they are really in the poo. Don't seem to be clicking at the moment. Maybe its a case of team of champions but not a champion team?[/quote]
A team of "champions" would require more than one.

Match between Banyule and Bentleigh this week should be a ripper in both ones and twos.
agree, will be a great tussle. The 2s have a slightly earlier game this week starting at 11.20am this week. I'm told it's because it's a triple header, but the 1s start at normal time? Don't quite see the reasoning but oh well![]()
