Will be interested to see you blokes this week Sniper. I don't think you did yourselves justice when you came to Beverley Rd. earlier in the year and I am anticipating a tight tustle.

A number of interesting games this week that will seperate the men from the boys, or actually the finalists from the relegators:

Emmaus St Leos (38-4-17) vs Old Westbourne (36-9-21)
Bentleigh (41-3-17) vs Banyule (37-5-20).
St Marys Salesian (45-3-19) vs Old Paradians (37-7-19)
Glen Eira (36-0-19) vs Old Eltham (33-0-17)
Prahran (42-6-16) vs Therry Penola (33-4-21)

The season is two/thirds gone so I did a bit or research and came up with the above figures. The first figure after a club represent the total number of players used so far, the second figure is the number hat have played all 12 games and the third figure is the number that have played eight or more games.

Glen Eira and Eltham's details haven't been updated yet.

Division 2 featured a big comeback from Therry Penola which avoided what would have been a critical loss when it crawled over Prahran, coming from twenty-seven points adrift at lemon-time. Glen Eira beat Eltham, Adam Barclay's six was enough to see Banyule home over Bentleigh and the Killer Bees David Boundy and Peter Brabender kicking five each again as Paradians came home all over St May's Salesians. Emmaus St Leo's hurt Old Westbourne's chances.

Today's results have literally split the competition ladder into two, with Old Westbourne stuck in no-man's land ! The top four are now two games clear and based on recent form will probably stay in the current order come finals time. And with five sides in the relegation zone, although Prahran ans St Mary's are favourites, it's going to be a very interesting final couple of rounds.

Difficult to argue with any opinions in respect of up coming games. Celebrations are a must at Glen Iris this week if they are to push a couple back to the drop zone. A defining match. OP's in great form, but must drop one soon & it won't be at home. Buy a brick supporters.. Ferndale will look sensational.

As there have been half a dozen scribes vouch for the Bentleigh RPA situation, perhaps this subject can be closed. That's if they don't forfeit this week due to lack of numbers. After match commentary will be interesting, & hopefully, the dreaded "I" word not mentioned.

Sniper, still waiting on the date of Bentleigh's next win..

Looks like big trouble at Ferndale Dr. Whats the plan a few tough games coming up

They might be ok. Parade are in good form and St Mary's were hardly desgraced.
Good day for the Bears coming away with 3 wins from Bentleigh. Ones was a hard fought game and we were able to kick away late in the day. The 2's was a suprise with our boys kicking the first 7 goals of the game and not looking back. And the 3's continue with their rise up the ladder with another good win.

Your 2's were fantastic. Easily the best two's side I've ever played against. Will be a good match come finals time.

Wouldn't want to play St Leos on the way home. In the last 3 weeks they have beaten Therry and Wesybourne and lost to Banyule away. They are 2 and half games out but they are capable of getting on a roll. The boys from Bennettswood may be giving themselves a chance.

Maybe not disgraced, but Ferndale boys can start checking D3 opponents now if no win this week. Only 2 homes left, this week a must against a tough opponent. Relegation situation may be settled this week.

How did the aftermatch go? Noted only one club has injuries according to the Amateur Record.

Good thing the sniper didn't have his benefits on the line saturday.

You must of missed your game against werribee last time you were in this division?

We were actually talking about this the other day, that werribee side would be the current bentleigh and banyule sides by 10 goals plus!

Looking forward to seeing how a much improved glen eira 2's side goes this week at banyule

Werribee 2s of 2007 & 2008 were an awesome unit, bringing back some painful memories of travelling down the Princes Hwy. In those days the discussion was about whether they could beat some 1s teams of those years.

They would have given it a fair crack, although I do remember them only winning the GFs by 1 point & 2 points respectively - go figure

Turtles a long way from home managed to have a large contingent staying back for a drink at GE. 100% better than our nearest neighbours.

Also well done to Stubbsy who celebrated his 400 games at our club. great to see many umps etc turning up to have a drink with him. Good gesture from GE to give him the game ball for all to sign.

Sniper you are spot on about their 2's sides, but must give credit to the Therry side of 2008 which was a very slick and tough outfit also.

Banyule 2's were also a very very tough side that year also

These 3 would have been some of the best 2's matches seen in a while

Strobler, we are getting a bit sick of your Bentleigh (or any other club that rubs you up the wrong way) bashing . Build a bridge and get over it.

The club is about to enter its most important 5 weeks of the past decade and the last thing we need is you causing distraction.

Banyule is a big game this week, any news on when Ash Brown will be back for the bears?

Also how is Banyule's ground looking this year, was a bit ordinary a couple of years back.

Ground in great nick, have the summer grass which goes dorment in winter.

In relation to Brown - soon;)

6 rounds to go and this is the run home for each of the teams.

Bolded = home games

Banyule - Bentleigh, Glen Eira, Eltham, Old Paradians, Therry, St Mary's
Play all top 3 sides but are good enough to win a least 4 of them. Best case scenario will win all 6 and finish 16 -2. Worst case will win 3 of last 6 and end up 13 - 5. Need to get Brown back in the side but will finish Top in my opinion.

Old Paradians - S t Mary's, Prahran, ESL, Banyule, Bentleigh, Old West
Form team. Could win all 6 to finish 13-5. Can only see them losing 2 games maximum. The round 16 game against Banyule should be a ripper.

Glen Eira - Eltham, Banyule, Prahran, Therry, St Mary's, ESL
This is a big call but I see them winning at least 5 of the 6 and are a chance to roll the bears away. They could finish second

Therry - Prahran, St Mary's, Bentleigh, Glen Eira, Banyule, Eltham
Will have to turn their form around or they could be gone. Massive game at Prahran this week who are in good form.

Old West - ESL, Bentleigh, St Mary's, Prahran, Eltham, Old Paradians
I think they will finish 4th at worst. Only play one team in the 4 and that is in round 18. They could be safely entrenched by that time.

Bentleigh - Banyule, Old West, Therry, ESL, Old Paradians, Prahan
Injuries have killed them you just have to have a look at their best players early in theyear and you will notice that most of these blokes are not playing at present. However you are only as good as you depth.

Eltham - Glen Eira, ESL, Banyule, St Mary's, Old West, Therry
Hard run home can see them winning 3 of these.

ESL - Old West, Eltham, Old Paradians,Bentleigh, Prahran, Glen Eira
Playing well but have a tough draw. If they win this week they may give themsleves a sneaky chance.

St Mary's - Old Paradians, Therry, old west, Eltham, Glen Eira, Banyule
Night mare draw. If they win 3 of them it would be a great result. Last team to beat Parade.

Prahran - Therry, old paradians, Glen Eira, Old west, ESL, Bentleigh
Hard draw but capable of winning 3

Hey Suds, any chance of tipping the winners/losers of remaining rounds and ladder to follow. Your form guide is stacking up.. ESL look to be the dark horse as you say.

Here goes for this week....

Banyule will beat Glen Eira at Banyule. This should be a good game going on the first encounter that saw the Bears home by a couple of kicks. The bears need to find their kicking boots as their radar has been way off over the last 3 weeks which has seen them kick far more behinds than goals. Glen Eira's top half dozen players are as good as anyone in the comp and they will see this as a must win game. Should be a belter.

Parade host Prahran and will win easily. Boundy and Brabender up forward will have a day out and should dine out on the smallish Prahran defence. Parade are gaining momemtum and won't drop a game like this. Parade then have the ever improving ESL and Banyule in the weeks after this game.

St Mary's will defeat Therry. Therry had to come from behind to beat Prahran last week but had been poor in the weeks prior. St Mary's weren't far off OP's last week and will see this week as a genuine chance to win a game and stay up in this division. Crowley was great with 4 goals last week but TP will need a greater impact from Mc Whinney and Costello to get over the line in this one.

Westbourne will continue Bentleigh's horror second half of the year with a win out at the wind farm. Westbourne will want to bounce bace to stay in touch with the 4. Bentleigh pushed the bears last week and going by the quarter by quarter scores led at 3 1/4 time before falling away at the end. Massive game for both clubs.

ESL will get the chocolates over Eltham. The animals have left their run late but they are having a dead set crack and may see themselves being a chance if the results fall their way. Eltham are funny side to get a guage on. They have some super players but are quite inconsistant.

I'm with you Sudds, only change to ladder being ESL overtaking Bentleigh & well away from the drop zone. The relegation fight down to 4. Any predictions there? Anyone dispute Sudds' summary?

Think ESL might have left their run a tad late, but who knows...
Bennetswood a horrible place to play, has the rain fixed the surface for starters?

A nice little interesting round as we race twoards the end of the season:

Old Eltham vs Emmaus St Leos. A mini relegation battle with the toffies from leafy Research to take the points.
St Mary's Salesian vs Therry Penola. Therry got out of jail last week at the death-knock and won't let that happen this week.
Old Paradians vs Prahran. I said weeks ago the Raiders were coming and will go past everone as they look to Div.1 in 2011.
Banyule vs Glen Eira. Banyule's outstanding season to continue as they head towards Div.1 in 2011.
Old Westbourne vs Bentleigh. With a finals spot still a chance the home side can't afford to drop this one.

Good Summary Clint, but gotta go with Sudds on 1st 2 games. ESL going well & will secure safety this week. SMS must win at home.

Here is a quiz. James Coyne writing in "the Amateur Footballer" refers to a particular club as follows:-

"great effort with so many players out of action".

Later on he writes that "the club has the plague"

For which club is he making excuses?

Haven't read the record as yet what game was he referring to?
