Personally, I hope Bentleigh stay down in D3. Currently you guys are giving about 50% of total posts. It'll be pretty quiet without you.

How are the chances looking? All that talk about "this league and that league are folding" has gone dead.. no one has any news on it all? Any other reason you'd like us to stay or just because a few of us seem to have the internet? :p

yeah, i wondered about this the other day as well. does anybody have anything on these goings on??

New joint coaches announced at St Mary's / Salesian. Daniel Adams & Aaron Bailey, both young and played some good football and will bring a fresh approach to the club. Good start to season 2009 for us at Ferndale!!!!

Where did they play Griff? Are they both playing coaches next year??

Daniel Adams- 28 yo Played for Knox (1st Divvy EFL). 2 Time premiership player. He is a jet. Wont play this year most likely recovering from broken ankle but if he does is a massive pickup for SMS. Highly skilled mid feilder

Aaron Bailey- 28 yo Vermont and Knox. Senior Coach Moorabbin div 2 SFL last 2 years. Needs to get fitter (heavy set) but also a good get. Can play forward and on ball. Will play according to a few mates. More an in an under type player but a very good player and is an excellent addition at this level

Know a few of their mates. Both excellent footballers apparantley. Bailey will be playing coach Adams Non playing. Interesting decision co-coaches. The whisper is they are already working hard to bring new players to SMS.

Seems as though the text messages are keen to not stay in D3 for very long

Couldnt have said it better myself...... Adams unlikley to play in 09 (unfortunatley!)

Sounds like good news for SMS, good luck next year & we may see you again in D2 in '10 (though we hope we're in D1 by then!!)

the SMS boys would want to pick up their act from last year with their most recent result being a 100 point thrashing at the hands of the dees who only finished the spot above them! I think SMS will have a much better year though after 2008 was their first year as a combined club. looks like the signing of the 2 new coaches is a big positive for them. would love to have that sort of win against them again next year but I suggest the gap will close a little and after only 4 wins from us boys in 2008 against therry and SMS we will take all the wins we can get and by any margain. a point will do as long as we are getting the wins on the board :D

Yes redandtheblue, that was a bad day for us, but to be honest, it was the last game of a very long and frustrating on field season for us and think the boys were looking forward to the following few days rather than playing that day....i can assure you that was not the real SMS!! Anyway enough of living in the past..... Season 2009, so far so good!!!! 2 new senior coaches, 4-5 qualiity new signings already..... we'll be right.....

Aaron (the cube) Bailey and Daniel (Daisy) Adams will be very handy additions at SMS. Daisy has played interleague for EFL and both have premiership experience.
Bails will do well at this level with his strong body and willingness to go and get the footy. Have not seen much D3 footy so can't comment on standard but would expect Bails to shine.
Daisy is a gun! Played in the D2 flag at EFL and was a very good player in D1 before injuring his leg.
If you can get him on the park in 2010 he would be my tip for the divisions B&F.

One guy is fat & the other can't play next year - it sounds like massive signings @ SMS!! :p

Heard the Top Job has been offered at Arthur Street...waiting on the prospective coach to commit....
With the AGM coming up on Oct 20 should we expect a decision by then? Or what are your sources telling you Nikes? Not giving too much away as to who the job has been offered to at this stage?

Nah ill leave it up to the club is announce it.....

Think i may receive a phone call today regarding if players will follow the new coach down to Bentleigh or will stay down the coast.
Not sure how the meeting the other day regarding a few player tho. DryBones perhaps u could fill in that blank.

The coast as in Phillip Island??

Ran into one player in question yesterday & I asked about his playing future. He shrugged his shoulders & said nothing - read into that what you want. Wasn't a comforting vibe that I got from him but lets hope he has a think over summer and he puts a value on loyalty & mateship rather than a couple of $$.

Has there ever been a longer worded script to advertise for a RESERVES COACH in the history of Football - well for D3 football anyway.

This must be one sought after position - worthy of such an intense and descriptive post.

and don't you love this incentive....Support for the successful applicant will be provided via professional development courses and external mentoring programs.

for f&ck sake, its only a reserve coaching role in D3, not a UN Contract position - tell you what though I'd be keen to see whats in the Postion Description to see what is in it....if anything like the advert then full of 'crap and wind'.

I just hope guys that can't read or nod off after two lines will not be deterred

They're obviously going around with the same coach for a 14th season. They need to change coach and change culture. No doubt they have talent. In fact they have the talent to play D1 and higher, but they let themselves down consistently in the same areas

They obviously haven't sent the senior coach or President to a Proffessional Development Course and External Mentoring Program . What the hell are those courses?

Unless I'm wrong this must be the only VAFA Club to invest in such courses for their Reserves Coach.

Just seems abit over the top for a D3 club.

Maybe re-invest the $$ into the ground maintenance program

or to pay the senior coach if youre looking for a quality man for the job. or were you having a crack at the condition of their ground?
