ah, the penny has dropped - silly CC.
the courses and mentoring programs are in lieu of any salary - NICE!
so the prospective Reserves Coach needs to spend X hours coaching,development and selection committee - and in an effort to gain a ROI on this time, then spend another X hours doing courses and meeting some 'old bugger' from the club over a coffee every now and then.

ahh, rathmines road reserve - looking forward to playing there again next season.
i'll be making sure im the first in line for ankle taping.
& i'll be reckoning our trainers will be bringing an extra 20 rolls just to be on the conservative side...

Sniper, confirmed today that several players from a club in the Alberton football league are almost ready to sign with Bentleigh in 09. With one player (Shane Watson) 100% for next year!

Very interesting. The Alberton league pays players lots of money. Will they play for free or are Bentleigh up to no good? We had 7 players from that league training with our club and playing for Toora on the Saturdays, and they were on big $$$$$$$$'s

No player payments at Bentleigh mate. A returning Bentleigh Player (Shane Watson) is coming home and bring with him i believe melbourne based players that a sick of travelling to whoop whoop ever week and perhaps they are also looking forward to the DJ nights

So we're not talking about the same Shane Watson the played for Collingwood in the 90's that was drafted from Montmorency then - obviously his name sake.
Plenty of big names being thrown around the Bentleigh circles at the moment - I'll believe these rumours when the off season BS stops & round 1 starts!
I hear there is an AGM Monday so the Big Footy family will probably know more come Tuesday.

Probably should be pointed out that this guy is "Shane Watson" and not actually named Shane Watson!! Funny though.. pretty sure he is a Collingwood supporter.
Anyway yes looking forward to the announcement of the new coach come Monday.
I'm glad I'm a Bentleigh person.. if I wasn't I'd be sick of us all already.

From what i have heard there is no players being payed at Bentleigh. I think they have just recruted well. Obviously the players from the alberton league want to play for the new Bentleigh coach. Dont everyone forget that they have signed Andrew Kellaway. The ex tiger player will be a big help to the young defenders being developed. The likes of Clement and Armstrong will learn alot from him.

Announced at the AGM tonight that Lex Munro has been appointed as Bentleigh coach for 2009.
Lex joins the Demons after coming from the senior coaching positon at Phillip Island football club.
He will be a non playing coach and has had a long history in football starting his juniors in Melbourne with Blackburn South as a junior and advancing into Fitzroys u/19's.
Lex has played senior football with East Burwood, Forest Hills,Tecoma and coached Warrandyte to a flag in 1999.
Lex also coached Whitefriars 2002-2004 and was part of the coaching staff at Springvale in 2005 before moving to coach Phillip Island from 2006-2008.
An extremely good decision by the people in charge at Bentleigh and this is a massive step in the right direction. Well done to Lex and also Matt Ashenden who was announced as reserve coach and senior assistant coach for 2009.

SOunds like a good pick up on paper & should bring back some ex Bentleigh players from what I understand have been running around with Phillip Island.
Lets hope this guy lasts longer than the last few coaches as from an outsider you would have to wonder why coaches don't seem to last @ Bentleigh. 2005 Paul, 2006 Lupoi, 2007 Laxton, 2008 McCulloch, 2009 Munro, 2010 ????? Should something be read in to these constant changes??
All had their different & valid reasons.
Paul 2005: Team got relegated to D3 after 2 years in D2
Lupoi 2006:Stepped down due to family commitments at the start of 07
Laxton 2007: Interim Coach
McMulloch 2008: Stepped down due to on-field team performances & lack of player commitment, IMO
