James Coyne setting up play for his teammates? Last year one of the 2s players got a free kick for a head-high tackle after putting his head over a tough ball. Coyne was nowhere near the contest but as soon as the whistle went he sprinted in to claim the free kick and boot the goal, even though the injured bloke was still healthy enough to take his own kick.

OMFG that is the funniest comment in the history of Bigfooty!!! Great one Bemuse Me!!!!

But if your going to tell a story get it right!! Coyney didnt "sprint" in. he was nearest to the ball. And i believe Lasky was to shaken to take the kick, so being the closest he got the kick.

Id rather have the sharpshooter coyne or Ferris rather than other forward (term used very loosely) Raj.

Rather defensive there White Nikes.....I'm pretty sure Bemuse Me has it right and that's how it played out.... but I suppose Coyney has to claim every kick he can get.... :)

When I asked the questi about player to watch in 2009, I mistakenly forgeot to mention that we know all the players down at Bentleigh are in the player to watch bracket!

Player to watch in my opionion:-

IMO Hawthorn for the flag - easily!

Some big ins for SMS, particularly returnees Cam Adam and Brett Gatehouse- the combine look very strong on paper already

gee bentleigh must be looking good this year, they have a new player J robinson as the one to watch????? wat number is this robinson and what position is he likely to play??? but then like u say, theres 44+ for bentleigh ya have to look out for

Haha nice try.. I realised on that occasion that at that level of the game it's just first in best dressed to take free kicks.
As I walked back to take my kick (without the ball) I turned around expecting the ump to be telling someone to give me the pill, however J. Coyne had it in his posession and the ump couldn't be bothered arguing with the power forward so he simply let him take the shot.
As we said at the time mate, lucky I got the chance to kick the next one within a minute..
But I'm pretty sure Bemuse Me had the story right Nikes ;)

This list is a little "thin" in my opinion.

There are some players here who are good solid players but what I would like to see is a list of "MATCHWINNERS" that can change the course of a game.

Players like Lauletta (Hawthorn), Edwards (Power House) and Smith (Elsternwick) are some of the players that can win the game off their own boot and change the course of the game in minutes, or quarters.

Who are some other of these MATCHWINNERS?
 
Chuck in J Watson from MG as well who returns to the fold. Takes hangers over opponents and can play in any position as well.

the Dimmattina's, d kellaway, n daffy, r aahmat, t lockett, n buckley.. All at Bentleigh this year.

Im getting a little worried. Im not sure if I am up to AFL standard. D3 must be the best comp going around this year, with all these players to watch and teams being a shoe in for the flag, etc.

I might be more of a chance to get a kick in the lowly A grade, rather than the elite D3!!!!!!:D

I think this year D3 is only having 4 games, SMS, Hawthorn and bentleigh will all play off for the flag. the season starts in sept.;)

You forgot about: Jason Saddington, Scott Burns, Shane Wakelin, Adam Ramanauskas, Danny Jacobs, Jess Sinclair, Ben Holland & Peter Everitt who all retired last year just so they can come play for Bentleigh in 2009.

All playing for the love of the game I might add ;)

not likeley. i think they are in negotiations with the vafa to have their own exclusive level. They will stay in D3 perpetually competeing and drawing as all three are unbeatable, the rest of us will be competing in a new level called "D4.5" playing footy with anvils cos its all we deserve.

Having a look on the VAFA website and couldnt remember if someone from St Marys posted it: they have a praccie match against Olinda/Ferny Creek and another v sydenham Hillside. nice scenic trip for you fellas.

AND Bent to play Forrest Hill now??
