Powerhouse's confidence must have taken a dent after the big loss to Albert Park? Will that change some of these ladder predictions?

My info suggests wicks played glen eira on sat? praccy form is not 4 point worthy. Round 1, April 18..bring it on!

Agreed, yet it still gives a bit of an indication where your at unless nobody rocks up.

Does any1 on here know what the standard diference between EDFL Div 2 and D3 are? ( i know ive already asked)

Good teams in Div 2 would be fair way ahead of D3 teams. I would suggest the good teams would be B Grade standard.

Having said that Rowville (made div 2 finals last year) just played Monash Blues & Melb High, both C Grade, in praccy matches and I believe Monash won and Melb High lost by a couple of goals.

But these are practice matches.....

And what about a side such as Moonee Valley that finished about 2nd last last year? On par with a top D3 side or would they hit struggle street?

Sorry Nikko, I thought you meant Eastern Div 2.
Div 2 EDFL is not considered very good standard at all. Moonee Valley who once was a very good team in Div 1 would struggle to compete in D3.

All surburban comps (besides Eastern) fall away quite badly in their second division....just the power of the dollar in those comps and unfortunately the teams in the lower divisions just don't have it....

Cool mate, thanks for that. Im a bit of a nuffie regarding standards in other leagues as ive only seen or played ammos.

Hey SMS boys, howd u go against Sydenham Hillside?

About 4 goals we lost by Nikko, they were a decent side actually with some big bodies. Low scoring game, was roughly 80 to 50odd from memory.

Fair trek to get out there as well.

Hope you didnt go the long way, on the upside there are 2 mcDonalds in close proximity, and a KFC for the tower burger! Everywhere is a fair trek for me in the ammos.. even my home games are 45minutes away!

The list of "if only the council had ..." could go to Sydney and back more times than Cliff Young. We got shuffled off to a unmarked, un-posted patch of turf last weekend, while the Auskick-ers enjoyed the postage stamp early Sunday morning.

The council plan to permanently move us to that patch of turf (with new clubrooms) has been kyboshed by Brighton residents who would be kept up until :O 9:00pm at night by the lights we use for training. I would have thought the "economic activity" coming from the Office of Housing estate just on the other side of the picturesque Elwood Canal/Elster Drain would have kept them up later and more often.

I dont think the residents were complaining about being kept awake till 9, it would be more like: "The lights on that oval prohibit us from undertaking in our shady and debaucherous behaviour until such a time that I cant get away with doing it anymore without making the wife suspicious." many a manwhore out of pocket by extra curricular illumination..

All over the D4 board comments about Albert Parks smashing of Power House on the weekend. Even our own Vegemite was on there posting in his clubs defence about small grounds, missing key players, key guns being played out of position and the team "not gelling together" (leave that one alone Nikkoteen!).

Is Albert Park that good or are the House just playing possum?

Haven't heard much from the Hawks nest of late except for speculation, innuendo and rumour! What's the real deal? Are they the real team to beat in 2009? They are playing a great "cat and mouse" smoke and mirrors strategy.

And the Wicks are rumoured to have fallen on hard times with some stalwarts retiring which will seriously affect bar sales.

The Monash Indians, with the best website in the land, can't get any quality players to pull on the boots for the Gryphons. But they do lay claim to a great cricket side!

There is no money for Boyceys boys from UHSOB and Nikkoteen is fuming! It probably makes a few forumites pretty happy.

The big cash is on the self professed superstars from Bentleigh with 200 plus players training on a regular basis. Unbackable, but can they take the pressure.

The rumours suggest SMS has no unity, no quality players and no experience. A re-build or a freefall? Let's wait and see...

West Brunswick will do their usual "win a flag/get relegated/win a flag/get relegated" routine that they are so famous for. No Irvine will see them really struggle.

St Johns are waiting for the early release scheme to kick in so they can get some players back on the track.

SFX are the dark horse with claims that they will destroy all before them in their quest for Premiership glory and nothing less. Unfortunately, bigger heads down there than at Bentleigh (if that's at all possible).

Bucks01,

Make up your mind!

Are they the team to WATCH or the team to BEAT?

Please decide...

You claim they are the team to beat, yet you then go about saying they are soft and that showed up in the last quarter??? Then you talk about smaller bodies and physical pressure not up to scratch BUT they are the team to BEAT and WATCH!?!?!?!

Are you for real?

sure am, bentleigh will be the ones to beat as you'll probably get 2 or 3 wet saturdays where bentleigh will be terrible, due to them being a very soft side, however there skill level is very good, therefore being a good team to go watch, and skill alone will take you a fair way in D3. JUST HOPE IT DOESNT RAIN ON THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY OF THE YEAR (coz YOU'LL go missing, its the bentleigh thing to do)
how did YOU guys go in YOUR last finals appearance??? have you won a senior flag?

With a name like bucks you'd hardly be the head over the ball type. If you bothered to come up to Eltham you would have seen a team manage a physical game and got over the line over the shell wearers. a good win to take into the break before rd 1.

Ethams track was wet-ish and we managed alright, the 2s smashed them by around 9 goals im told. Great performances from Eel, and Woolworths up forward. I was just happy to keep my feet this week. 2 from 2 for me.

Not sure how the 19s went in Clifton Hill though.

2 point victory I believe! First for the pre-season, good stuff, yet the twos seen to be smashing everyone and being talked up a great deal and in detail on this website, but unfortunetly you don't get promoted if the seconds win the flag - Question how did the seniors perform?

Yes the seniors had a victory in a close match. Had 3 very close games across the pre-season which has made for solid match practice which is what we're here for at this time of year.
On the weekend there were various aspects to the Bentleigh side.. 5 or so players were brought in for a look as it was the last game before the real stuff begins, a handful were also playing their first game after injury and are obviously not going to be at their best straight away, plus still many missing for whatever reasons those players had.
Also a big key forward recruit copped a knock to the head in the first 5 mins and did not return to the field. It was certainly not a 100% Bentleigh side.

Eltham had bout 4-5 seniors out and half the two's were ring in's so i would take much out of the 2's game.

Seniors game was close all day, both teams played good in patches...

Bentleigh would be a 8 goal loser to the Willy side of 08 and our finals team would have given them a touch up, they didnt really like the hard stuff no 7 is built like travis cloke and could do damage all over the ground give him close attention and prob wont see him much....

That FF that went down was look like he will kick a few bags, hes 6'3 ripped and looked fit
