On the contrary, every Bentleigh poster who has given his ladder predictions has them at 1 or 2....

Were you expecting people to really not back their clubs in? Really id be very surprised if someone wrote "yeah, i'm not sure we can do well this year, we will finish bottom four!" Idiot.

A lot of our talk regarding the 2s, may be due to the fact we are usually on the end of these 9 goal+ beltings so those that have been at the club awhile are quite excited that things are beginning to change.

But agree with Snip, just stats not talking ourselves up, just reporting.

Have a safe easter all.

Griff....correct

Listen here moron, everyone is backing themselves to have a good year that goes without saying.....but most wouldn't put out a ladder prediction...
Even the SMS boys weren't stupid enough to do it.....
Once you put out a prediction and you slot yourselves in at 1 or 2, that is talking yourself up plain and simple....

gday all!!

as i started 4 weeks leave on monday, i havent had the chance to get in here & comment until now!!

agree with farren, our practice match form in the 2s has been superb & its been "refreshing" to be the ones handing out the 9 goal beltings & not receiving them!! :) but if course, its another thing to give these during the season proper so we'll see how were going to go with this proposition after the first few rounds.

Ok lads, my tips for rd 1 and to get some conversation going.

well you know griff, some blokes will still be trying to find where the six point goal posts are seeing round 1 may be the first time they will have seen them!! :D

were still without them at arthur street as of last night...

Your kidding me!

Firstly it is a bit of fun.

Secondly most would look at the ladder from 2 down only to gauge how others perceive how well people think their club will do, as the majority would have their team first. Who would put there team 2nd? 'We will do great but lose the grannie'...get serious.

Real stuff happens 18th of April, i look forward till then, where "guessitimation" ladders wont be so seriously analyzed.

Who cares how other people perceive where my team will finish this year? They dont, and I dont. It was not too long ago I remember St Mary's (not SMS griff) chanting 18-0, 18-0 every day on here.. and what happened? they took a dive in finals and merged with another club.

At the end of the day, most blokes on here would be players from the 2's, probably playing back pocket looking for a bit more excitement than freezing their a-ss off, waiting for a 120kg heffer to mosie on over to the contest once every quarter then sit in the goalsquare working up the energy to waddle to the bench.

Everyone at this stage believes they can win the flag, whether they are right or not will be obvious pretty soon, so Untill then, whats the point of a ladder prediction?

WB could be correct with scoring 22 behinds, apparently still no access to ground or anything like a football oval. May struggle to find the big sticks. Fitness looks great though, don't expect an easy day against the WB boys gentlemen.

Round 1 my tips...
All the home sides.
That's as good as I can do for now, however, the Gryphons have good numbers and hopefully can reproduce their early season form which deserted them in the late season.Maybe an upset?
If West Brunswick have lost so many from the GF, maybe close. SFX finished the season as best side in the finals.
SMS probably not the best starting side either, Vultures might be able to " walk the walk"?
The House are slow starters, at least they were last season. Wicks to slip home.

We might as well give the pennant to the Arthur Street mob now. They will get the 4 points form the JOCS.

This thread might reach the cut off point before the season starts! Almost 1500 posts to date.

Here are my tips for Round 1
Bentleigh v St Johns - Bentleigh in a canter. Even though I don't believe the hype on here, St Johns from all reports are S T Ruggling.
SMS v Uni High - my sources suggest that SMS have had alot of new inclusions but are severly lacking in the height department. If the old bald guy (about 50) is still playing the 1s at Uni High then they have no chance.
West Brunswick v SFX - When the publication that your team puts out says you've lost 6 of your best players then that is pretty much gospel and replacing 6 of your best in one year is virtually impossible. When moving up a grade you need to hold on to everyone and pick up 4 or 5. Word is that SFX has struggled to recruit as well. SFX to win but both not to make a dent this year.
Elsternwick v Powerhouse - Powerhouse desperately need to inject youth. Couldn't believe how old they were when I saw them play last year. The Wicks are struggling for numbers over the pre-season and this will hurt them in long run. Smith will win this one of his own boot though.
Hawks v Gryphons - Hope the Hawks lose so I can stick it up the coaches arse but I must say they are looking the goods. Rutherford is a gun and the Hawks will no doubt watch him closely. The Hawks have picked up plenty and they will be very well drilled and fit. They will win this one in a canter.

I look forward to everyone bagging me....
Happy Easter Boys.

eastern football league division 4 reserves mustnt be much chop - forest hill smashed eastern lions by 141 points on april 4 after we smashed THEM 13 days earlier!!

guess this shows the gap between the respective reserve divisions of both leagues...

I wouldn't read too much into practice matches in other leagues Stewie with Cricket Grand Finals & cricket trips occuring around footy practice matches.

But agree D2 -D3 teams (seniors) would be competitive or finals contenders in Southern Div 2, & Eastern Div 3

bah! enough crapola about other leagues, Round 1 is looming in the only league that counts!

anyone else care enough to go down Sportscover Arena this Friday to watch the D4 game under lights??
