West Brunswick over St Johns by 13 points - West Brunswick aren't as bad as most people make out.

Bentleigh over Elsternwick by six points - Smith will be a handfull for the Bentleigh backline, but the Demons will have too much class.

Powerhouse over Monash Gryphons by 48 points - Edwards will regain form and the House will be too big and strong.

Hawthorn over St Marys Salesian by two points - Tough game to pick this one, but I just think the Hawks will be hungrier for the win.

St Francis Xavier over Uni High by 33 points - Dimakopoulos is hard to stop at home and SFX will be too strong all over the ground.

wicks will go alright , got a feeling that hunter is well overdue for a huge one. can take a big grab when its needed. Prob wont be enough to get them over the line tho. Staffords not playing at rye either.

St Marys/Salesian beat Hawthorn by 26 pionts. Reliably, the home team have yet again failed to provide details but my sources report that the Ratmines crew have failed again to sieze the initiave and let front runners take the game away from them. Lazy boys, lazy.

Power House have played like they belong in D1. Monash are sadly struck by the "Injury" demon, good players sitting on the fence. Their day will come. Those old legs at the village green will succumb to the riggors of winter and will bog down in the centre mud by mid June methinks.

Bentleigh won a very tough game against Elsternwick simply because they won the first quarter by plenty. Outscored and out played for the next three...chills down the (thin) spine of their followers. Lucky escape at home! Welcome to D3 boys. It's a long, cold winter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Nobody should be singing, "oh the premierships a cake walk.."

UHS VU will soon have to account for the hype they have built up around themselves. SFX play honest footy and will not be subject to bulls#it hype! 80 points proves my point. Back to Brens oval to regroup for the........oh dear, the hungry Hawks!

West Brunswick are not done with yet. They are well coached and will have their many doubters, myself included, searching for excuses. An away win at Doveton is gold.
The McAllister hoodoo will be awaiting the Demons, if they are tough enough (?)
Personally, I think they will need a Kellaway to break the grip of the Magpies.
Where are these much vaunted signings anyway? Waiting for Shooters' calf to mend?

we never said "oh the premierships a cake walk.."
we take one week at a time and at the end of the round 18 we shall see were we sit. But yes, it was a good strong hard game and we were pushed by a strong outfit in Elstie.

just what the boys from bentleigh wanted, a tough, hard game and they got it which was expected. the young boys stoop up to it well. sidewinder relax, we never said it was a cakewalk, thats just you making assumptions with all the hype surrounding us and this bullshine forum.

Bentleigh have only ever lost 1 game out of 3 meetings at McAllister. Some hoodoo:rolleyes:

Great to see Bentleigh's young brigade stand up to some "over zealous pressure" by the Wicks & kick away towards the end of the last quarter. As aka47 stated it might be just what the Demons needed;)

who is that red head kid who plays for st marys? they seem to call him janeo or maybe even yano where the j is silent? he has the biggest left calf ive ever seen!

oh and he really brings the team down cos he cant kick without taking like 35 seconds to drop the ball

I dont know if you have noticed Swine-der, but im the only UHS bloke on here and there hasnt been a word of hype, actually you would be lucky if you could find a post which is related to football.. Oh well, i guess reading is harder for some than others.

Went and watch the Hawks v SMS game on the weekend and was very surprised by the standard of the game. Both teams played very fast moving football. SMS won the game in the first 20 mins of the second quarter and the Hawks were playing catch up after that. Thought the Hawks were a chance midway through the third but two costly/stupid errors by the Hawks put the game out of their reach.
It was quite amusing watching the two different umpires umpire the game in a totally different manner. If it was hard for us watching, imagine how hard it is for the players!!
SMS were a good strong outfit. Got a few guys carrying a few extra kilos which may be their undoing in weeks to come. Hawks were 500% better than the last time I saw them. They are on the improve but then again the only way they could go was up.

We (SMS) may have to practice on our goal kicking abilities this week, 30 goals 52 behinds between the ressies & seniors!!! Allthough I would imagine there would be a few points kicked every game on that ground, easy to blaze away!!!

Sidey, love the wrap up but not sure about your knowledge on the House. In past seasons (including last year with a similar list), the House have been poor starters and actually came good in the winter months. Not sure that the House played like a D1 side (maybe they did becuase there's not much difference between the levels in my opinion) but a 10 goal plus win over our old rivals Monash is a good win any day.

Ahhh Chooo! Snif,snif.
Dunno, but my sources say the Vultures didnt expect to loose to Bentleigh.

After reading all of the hype about Hawthorn it almost time to call their quest for finals finished for 2009. I reckon minimum of 10 wins to get into the finals and they will require 10 wins from their next 15 games, with them yet to play the top sides. Just concerntrate on avoiding relegation for 2009 and try and find a real ground rather than that under 11 ground you play on.Absolute disgrace.Waiting for Bentleigh to choke come finals time as usually happens....

You've started the season like a house-on-fire. If I may use that pun? Saw a game recently and if there is further improvement in da house, look out everyone! And yes the side saw was well ready for challenges, like higher grades.
Poor Gryphs, their confidence must be at duck belly point right now.

Yeah your right. We should have just not even bothered to play. You know how it is in Round 2 these days, you read that a team has some ex afl guys or 90 on the track on a public forum and you give up.

I take it the house went to SFX in rnd 2 expecting to lose too hey?

dumbass.

What did you think of the umpiring Griff?
Did you see it as I did from a playing perspective?

I wasnt playing in the main game, I actually coach and play in the Ressies. But to be honest, I didnt notice the umpires too much in the seniors, there were a few "interesting" calls during the game but didnt notice anything out of the ordinary. I actually knew one of the umpires from the day and was too busy giving him a bit of stick....

i have 3 words for everyone here:

JAMES ROBERTSON.... SUPERSTAR.

i rest my case.

Yeah, you're right! Now watch every team from here on try to smack the living sh*t out of the poor bloke!!!

8 goals in a "best on field" virtuoso performance on Saturday.
Probably the difference between Elsternwick and Bentleigh.

Nice one!

What a great idea Sidey - thanks for suggesting it!

Well done to your boys on the weekend Griff. I actually played on you for 5 minutes before the coach saw the miss match and moved me! What have you thought of the standard of the Ressies so far this year?

Cheers Fosters, I had a bit of a stinker on the weekend, lucky to snag a few late!! The standard has been pretty good for reserves football. Uni High were a good team and we were lucky to come away with the points that day, Monash had some good players and you guys were the same. It didnt feel like we had won by as much as we did on the weekend!! Maybe if we had of kicked a bit straighter....but happy to be 3-0!!!
