OMG it's Wednesday and I haven't posted my tips..What was I thinking?

ROUND 4 TIPS

UHS-VU v HAWTHORN
Another nail biter on offer. When are the Hawks gonna give some team a towelling? Maybe this week. Who knows? Brens oval may well be the
salvation for the Vultures. Kirk to kick a bag. Nikko to run amok in the magoos!

MONASH GRYPHONS v ST FRANCIS XAVIER.
The happless church roof ornaments may well rue the injury list and ponder what might have been since they startred the season so well. Hard to see them steeling themselves for a gritty win over the (surprisingly) top of the ladder XMEN. Freddy's curses are audible from as far away as Sandringham by now. C'mon Gryphs show some pluck.
SFX by plenty I lament.

St MARYS SALESIAN v POWER HOUSE.
A big test for both clubs. The short message service boys are front running at present, seeing they are playing a lower grade.(?) Don't tell the house that, they are still playing like a D1 side at the moment. Very intensive, no-let- up football. One slip in intensity and the house will rip into a handy lead. Ferndale park will look like a battlefield at 4:40pm Saturday. My tip? SMS- just.

WEST BRUNSWICK v BENTLEIGH. Hard to tip against the Demons at the moment. So I won't. The result may be a lot closer than many think!

ELSTERNWICK v St JOHNS. Hmmm! Can Elastoplast hold the jock strap together? Mighty good question. On the small confines of zimmer-frame park I think so. But expect the Doveton boys to account for themselves well,

Yes Sidey...couldn't agree more.

Time to move on.

I heard far too much talk about the Wicks v Bentleigh clash.

Hawthorn over Uni High by 18 points - I just have a feeling that the Hawks will be primed for this one. Ogge to kick a bag and the Hawks to get off the bottom of the ladder.

St Francis Xavier over Monash Gryphons by 44 points - Gryphs usually hard to beat at home, but St Francis look like they belong in D2 and not D3.

St Marys Salesian over Powerhouse by 14 points - Toughest game of the round, but I am not sure if the small ground will suit the boys from Albert Park.

Bentleigh over West Brunswick by four points - I actually agree with you on this one Sidey...will be closer than many people think. Pietsch to line up on Robertson and the Demons to sneak over the line.

Elsternwick over St Johns by 55 points - Wicks may have a few discipline issues, but they will have far too much firepower for the Doveton boys at EP No.2.

My thoughts are that Ferndale Park is just about right for the house. No room to run free, the house are close checking and well drilled. The SMS had better to be ready for a tough, but fair contest. I'll say that much for the house.

Stu heard you went the double glove tonight at training mate!!!

I think West Brunswick will win as they have A superstar in there team , Hayden Lewis bloke is an absaloute freak!

Stewie, your tipping against your own side??

Where's the faith brother.

well, were currently an inaccurate side left foot kick & i believe this will cost us tomorrow.

dont get me wrong though, we'll still be a chance as the game will be a close encounter with the result decided at the 35 minute mark...

correct, brother. it started to rain at the beginning of the night so i raced in & put them on. waste of time in the end as it stopped & the t.w's remained dry!!

Hasn't been in the best for the last 3 rounds in either 1s of 2s. New player??

Saw him play in last years granny teared the game apart was on fire , and apparently his back in form and should really impact the game this week, he is pretty much James Hird like imo.

Ok so Bentleigh can watch out for the bloke hanging out the back of packs then :D

Round 3 Preview:

St Johns over Westies by 39pts (Adam Jones is in fine form around the goals and the Jocs should have no problem disposing of West Brunswick who's depleted ranks are of concern)
Bentleigh over Wicks by 65pts (Can't believe some punters are giving Elsterwick a chance! Demons easily, with Chris Fidler to star for the home side).
The House over The Gryphons by 16pts (Results have gone the way of Powerhouse in recent years, and this fixture should be no different. Will be close all day, but the class of Glenn Wilson should be enough)
SMS over Hawthorn by 55pts (St Mary's/Salesian look the goods and Hawthorn unfortunately look very bad. The Hill brothers to star for the visitors)
SFX over UHS-VU by 6pts (Match of the round undoubtedly. Home ground advantage the deciding factor in selecting a winner. Expect a bold showing from both these sides this season and expect a shootout. Dimitri Dimakopoulos to continue his good form for the home side)

Good luck to all

Round 3 Review:

Another 4/5 places Quasi on 10/15 for thed season!

Three things are evident after round 3:
1. Elsternwick have been underrated by many after their valiant effort at Arthur St last weekend.
2. West Brunswick are not doomed.
3. Monash are headed for D4 on current form.

A long way to go for sure however...

Round 4 Preview:

Uni High over Hawthorn by 16Pts (The much vaunted clash of early season strugglers has me scratching my head like many others. Even more so when I am leaning towards selecting the boys from Brens Oval. However, the home ground advantage coupled with Hawthorn's awful form thus far has me leaning towards the home side).
SFX over the Gryphons by 48Pts (This game looks a no brainer as Monash are up against a confident young side full of run and skill, and are an outfit who simply are not kicking scores anywhere near necessary to win games of football).
SMS over Powerhouse by 11Pts (Match of the round with two hard at it sides who are full of vigour. The game, like many at this level will be won in the midfield. I favour the Saints because they are the home side but would not be suprised if the Piranah's get the Chocolates).
Bentleigh over West Brunswick by 29Pts (The Demons can't afford to be complacent against the rejuvenated Magpies, but the simple fact remains Bentleigh's depth is uncomparable in this section and they are yet to lose).
Wicks over Joc's by 38Pts (Lock of the week. Yes I admit I gave Elsternwick no chance this season and a one/two scoreline portrays much the same. However, they really tested Bentleigh at home and look far to accomplished up forward for the Joc's).

Good luck to all

The Vultures have dealt a mighty blow to the ego of Mark Murray et al. I think the hawk think-tank are sorely missing Barrell's strategic process! Where has th ahrd ball stuff we expect from the ratmines crew? Is Wazza playing in the ones for the varsity team? When, I ask you,are the Hawks going to dish out a mother of a spanking to an opponent? Next year in D4? That's my tip right now. The Kirkmiester will soon be the toast of Nikko's talk. 100+ goals if Jess Anton goes missing or J-train Hunter gets the yips!

SFX have trampled on Monash's dream and Freddy's expectations also in a mighty hard way. The Gryphons are missing some mongrel.... somewhere! Let the Beaky boys into D2 now, they are going to make it for sure. That would make the finals action a little more interesting. My big pick is that SFX will beat Bentleigh three times this year. Please, oh please, feel free to quote me on this one.

SMS. (yes, that thing you do all night on Saturday) put the house in order with a real D2 type display. 70+ points against a tough side is a handy home win! Can the depth of the ferndale mob supply replacements for the rest of the season and will the ego's stay off field long enough fot the sainters to run through the finals?

Bentleigh like going to the zoo! Made a meal of the Vultures. Did "Shooter" play? Probably not methinks, otherwise it would have been a 100+ win. Give 'em the pennant now. Unbackable in my book.

The Joccers have slipped into some very good form. The old guard at EP No2 are too slow, too old and too accident prone to scare a retirement home 2nd Eighteen side at the moment.
Mind you, the play by both teams yesterday was, at times, electric. The Doveton rangers are firing on all cylinders and will run the likes of Bentleigh all the way. I recon they are D2 bound on current form.

I'm exhausted this weekend! I need a cup of tea, a "Bex" and a good lie down.

Only thing going against SFX is that they havent played qaulity opposition yet...time will tell

I would also worry that their reserves seem to get smashed every week so maybe the depth is a little weaker than some of the other clubs. Might not make much difference to the seniors now with everyone up but injuries always come and they will have to call on them.
Still, a fantastic start for the new guys in a D3 Lets hope the race for all the spots in the four goes untill rd 18.

hey guys im one of the coach`s of the x-men twos.i must admit we are not one of the stronger 2`s teams but to say we get smashed every week.i believe is wrong.if you where to watch our games you would see the boys have been very close in every game except round 1 but just could not put together 4 quarters.once we play a full game we will start to win a few games.we also have at least 6 players missing out each week and are getting close to finding the right mix.

Fair enough Strummer, smashed was probably an inapproraite word to have used but i was trying to emphasize the point that you guys (reserves) are 0- 4 while your seniors is 4 - 0. Must indicate something about your depth surley.
