An interesting snippet I found off of the Monash Gryphons website written by what appears to be their coach

"Our policy for the remainder of the year must be to blood as many young players at Senior Level as possible to make them feel they are required footballers. Only then are we really taking the necessary steps to ensure the long sustainability of the Football Club on the field. The blend of these youngsters and the lessons they will learn from players such as DB & Wellsy can only benefit the club as a whole."

This statement IMO raises some interesting questions:
1. Do they think that relegation to D4 is a forgone conclusion?
2. Will they blood U'19s to their senior ranks?
3. Will quality regular 1's players be playing in the 2's, even though their form warrants Senior selection?

I think the maybe the latter, watch out for Gryphons 2's in the 2nd half of the year!

hmmmmm.

1. And how does 'taking steps to ensure the long sustainability of the club' involve heading to D4.
2. Monash doesn't have an U/19's
3. what a moronic statement. saying that youngsters need experience doesn't mean decent players are to be dropped. i think any knowledgable football follower would take it to mean that if there are 2 players equally pushing for selection and one is 20, the other is 32 then it is better for the club's future to player the youngster.
this isn't afl pall.

a couple of players write up a newsletter each week too. if you're interested we can pop u on the mailing list. better still, if you're really that interested in the club why not sign up and buy a membership. why restrict yourself to reading the website only...?

Good to see some Monash people on here.

That's too bad not having an U'19's - my mistake.

Thanks for the offer of the membership but I'll have to decline, my own club's membership costs me enough as it is, reading your website is much cheaper.

But finally I still think the statement reads, if I'm not mistaken, that your club will play youth before experience, yes? Therefore bolstering your reserve side with senior experience. Like I said look out for Gryphons 2's in the second half of the year.

Just received a call from a mate who gave me the following update on Burnside from Power House.

10 days later he is still in hospital and has not had any food or drink since the "incident".

No-one from Bentleigh has contacted the House to see how he is going.

I hope the Bentleigh "dog" who took him out is enjoying his lunch today and his training tonight and going home to see his family...while Burnside may struggle to even work again for a few months...

disgraceful...

Dee Three, I feel for Burnside, I hope he does make a full recovery, sounds pretty serious!!! Good Bloke as well....... Im thinking of missing Rd 18 to come watch The House V The Premiers. Should be an interesting match.

Get ready for the onslaught of Bentleigh people to have a crack back at you though Dee Three.

Well here it comes...

Give it a rest mate with the guilt trip!! The incident which was discussed ad nauseum last week was accidental.

The bloke from Bentleigh who was involved in the incident is not "dog" or a thug or a sniper, never has, never will be. The fact of the matter is, the Power House ruckman put himself at risk in the ruck contest by turning his back to the contest, putting himself in danger. Accidents happen, end of story.

I am not speaking for the club, but I wish well for him to make a speedy recovery & for him to get back on his feet again. Stupid statement like this are not helping anyone

Thanks for your worthy comment sniper...

It's YOUR opinion that the "incident" was accidental...not an opinion held by all posters on this forum moron.

Is this your own twisted way of convincing yourself that this actually wasn't a deliberate premeditated act?

Real tough calling people names sitting behind a computer, maybe your just another "keyboard warrior".

Anyway, you must have been one of the on-ballers for PowerHouse to see if the Bentleigh ruckman had eyes only for the opponent or not, and that it was premeditated to say it was deliberate. Or are you just a one eyed PH fan sitting 80m away from the contest in the stands?

It was a football incident please move on

Yaaawwwnnnnn......Oh sorry, it's Dee Three throwing out the 'thug' line again.

Whatever is said won't change your mind we know. No-one ever changed their mind losing an argument.

Horrible thing to happen but accidents do happen in contact sports.

Strange thing is....no reports & no remonstrating for such a deliberate, cowardly act. I wonder why? You work it out!

Agree with this comment. I saw no remonstration from any of the PH players at the time of the incident and no whistleblowing from the umpire who would have been right there at the centre bounce.

I don't think it matters how many times people address this, some moron is going to raise this as a discussion topic - no doubt around rd 18 to bring some fire to the game.

I didn't realise your bowels were in your back?

At risk of fueling a dead argument - did you even actually see what happened Sniper or are you just going on what you've been told?

I can tell you that Burnside has never turned his back on a ruck contest in the three years I've been watching the House and took the full brunt of a knee directly to his stomach.

And don't read too much into the fact that the Bentleigh ruckman wasn't looking at the ball (which he clearly wasn't)- that quite often happens with opposition ruckmen against Burnside as his leap and height often make it hard for opposing ruckmen to get anywhere near the ball so they try to at least make it a 50/50 by running straight into him. Pretty standard tactic with undersized rucks.

I agree there didn't look to be too much in it and the extent of the injury probably wasn't intended - however it's ridiculous to claim the Bentleigh ruckman was trying to do anything other than run into Dave so he couldn't use his leap. The fact that he was hit flush with a knee in the stomach also can't be questioned due to the type of injury sustained. The rest is just opinion and the only bloke who can really say whether he was trying to put him out of the game is the opposing ruck (I wont name names but we all know which number it was).

There was no remonstration from the House players at the time as they were too concerned with winning such an important game, plus they all would have had eyes for the ball rather than watching where the Bentleigh ruck was looking.

Pretty sure we should all just wish Dave the best for a speedy recovery and hope that he can get out of hospital soon and leave it at that.

Dee Three is clearly fishing for bites and will continue to do so as long as you keep on biting at every obvious piece of bait. (it does make for entertaining reading though:))

Must be a slow news week. Would be interesting to see how the PH ruckman viewed the "incident", hope he is ok. Moving on though:

Tips this week:

Monash just over the alphabet. 8 points.

WB at home over the Hawthorn. 45

Wicks v St Mary will be interesting....Margin will depend on which Elsterwick rocks up. St Mary by 23

St johns by 13 over PH

Bentleigh over SFX by 18

My tips for this week:
Uni High by 15pts.
Hawks by 35pts.
SMS by 40pts.
St Johns by 20pts.
SFX by 25pts.

Good luck to all on Saturday.

Good to see you are still logging in from Persia sidey!
Nah! It was Brunswick actually. Just seemed very foreign to me. I was a bit slow to pick my winners last week.
One third the way through the season and the gap 'tween top 3 and the rest is perhaps not as wide as appears. Watch for upsets from here on.
4th place is up for grabs from 10th place up. Suspect the Hawks to run up the ladder from here on. It will be like "snakes and ladders" in D3.

It was interesting to note that Bentleigh have followed the lead of Swinburne and have the music pumping in the showers after the game.

At least it wasn't Swinburne's Techno, as it did sound more like Triple M, do they take it in turns to jump out of the shower and change it to Gold 104.3 when the ads come on?

Hate to splitting hairs here Iceberg, but music pumping on Triple M after the game??? Here I thought that the AFL match review for the game of the day was on Triple M on at that time. But anyway we'll let you make a little ass of yourself, we don't mind. :p

Naked young men, lathering up and dancing together in the shower....

That takes "singing the team" song to a whole new level that I'm trying not to visualise!

I thought that would have been a wet dream for you Dee.. Surprised you werent at the rooms offering them "popsicles from your basement" or squirting liquid soap on the shower floor and telling them to pick it up..

That's quite a vivid description nikko teen. It's actually quite creepy that you thought it up..and even creepier that you actually typed and posted it.

Since J Horn has put out his top 50 in the ammo's, I thought I would do the same from what I have seen and been told in D3 THIS YEAR. I don't think I could get to 50 so I will try for 10.

1. J Lenders (SFX)
2. M Collins (Haw)
3. A Grace (E'Wick)
4. C Armstrong (SMS)
5. D Dimakopolous (SFX)
6. J Robertson (Bent)
7. N Rutherford (Mon)
8. N Chalk (StJ)
9. L Gorringe (UHS)
10. A Pabst (SFX)

Thoughts?

hahahaha - good one :thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

always good for an insightful comment bucks

From the list of 10 still think robbo should be slightly higher. The bloke gets heavily tagged and nailed at every opportunity and still finds a way to win games off his own boot i.e. 8 goals rd 3 v elsternwick.

I probably have a slightly biased opinion though :D
