Let me tell it as it is..

WB to cause an upset( been showing signs)

SMS to salute

E'wick to casue an upset

House in a canter-Very close!

Bentleigh by 103 points against the hapless hawks.

Well, perhaps now you all know why they call me the expert!

How many on this board tipped either WB or Elsternwick??

I tipped both and got it right!

Respect please

Fraze, you are some tipster!
West Brunswick, caused an upset by jumping one place on the ladder! Shock horror.
StMarys Salesian over the Joccas. No surprise. The form side methinks!

Wicks casued (is that past tense for casue?) presume that's a typo, whatever, they did.Dunno how. Old, weary & unmotivated as they are!

The House are GONE!

Bentleigh, who else?

Not bad, 4 from 5 first up. You must be reading or writing the D3 page!!!!!

mmm, I think I have heard that somewhere before!

I repeat, how many tipped both the wicks and WB?

Perhaps that will give you some indication of whether it was good tipping or simply picking what everyone else did.

methinks??

All of a sudden, as of this week, on the ladder SMS StFX St Johns and Elsternwick all have draws next to their names. Unless I'm blind this is just a typo yes??
Just seems they've updated those two round 8 games as 2 points for some reason.

Same thing has happened with the twos ladder with Elsternwick & SFX both awards 2 points for a draw, after SFX won by 9 pts

I think the IT work experience kid must updated the results.

Good result for the St Francis Xavier OC magoos, breaking their egg!
What happened in the late starting game? Are the 'wicks over the flu? Did the bus rides, the long golf walk or the tough representative game on the Murray river leave too much lactic acid in Joel Lenders' legs?

Did Billy Irving's first game for '09 really have an effect on the Magpies?
Were scholastic persuits or the daunting proposition of a trip to the McAllister oval, with it's windy, cold and possibly wild wet weather (the H1M1 virus is pandemic after all)
weighing on the Gryphons? No, they played at home! What say you Quasi?

Jesus looks to be a spectator for the remainder of the season, unfortunately for the Piranahs'. Another bloke that could make a difference is one Paul Edwards!
Nikkos mates got the best of the wind but nearly blew it in the first quarter!

SMS are a massive challenge at home and it looks like the Joccas ran out of legs in the second half. Twice as many scoring shots looks like an artillery barrage on the scoreboard. They will need this weeks training to focus on accuracy as they will not get the better of Bentleigh. With a conversion rate like that, they face multiple demons next week.

The "local derby" next week for the Joccas, who play a team further away from the
melbourne CBD than they are. A home game, an 8 pointer looms for both teams.

What a fascinating half season round! Ladder position 1 plays 2, 3 plays 4.
The rest left to sort out the ("snakes and ladders") maths.. 10 into 6, 9 into 5, 8 into 7.....does that compute?

Great win for the 2's Sidewinder, they were a very happy bunch of blokes. Hopefully we can roll on and win a few more.

The 1's had 6 "regulars" out of the side against the wicks, due to injury and un availability, which made it a very tough day for us. Having said that, not taking anything away from the Wicks, they played great footy and when we did hit the lead late in the 3rd, the Wicks went up another notch and ran away with it.

So we need to re group and find the form that had us winning our first 5 games of the season. Get 4 of the 6 back this week, which will hopefully add a bit of stability back in the side. And yes this week is an 8 pointer against the Jocs, will be a good game.

Sidewinder, is it any conincidence that Dave Smith is back for the game against the Gryphs, getting one run under his belt as a warm up prehaps? It sure looks like he dominated that game against SFX.

Well, it's perhaps not a one man band as some would think. A recruit named Carratello had something to do with the result it seems. Any side that boasts 3 Mahony brothers is something to be reckoned with. They have been around for a decade and are on their game! Well, get on the Dave Smith bandwagon, see how it goes. Gotta be really, really good to beat him it seems. 7 straight is not a bad result. Combine that with Hunter, Grace and Co........... Gotta have defenders, midfield and wingers to get it forward. Oh, sorry.. didn't mean to tell yous how to suck eggs!

Oh Sidewinder, the Wicks seem to have it all!!! except for one little thing - THE ABILITY TO WIN GAMES OF FOOTBALL -

Well win they did! But then again, you seem to have a particular dislike for Elsternwick don't you? (......... maybe you remember the '05 grand final!)
I'm not saying one swallow makes a summer..I'm not on their bandwagon either sarcast. Get good team numbers half way through the season and anything can happen. Many have ventured to Beaconsfield and have found the going tough. I take it your mob haven't been there yet! Crow when you have!!!
The D3 scribe wrote in glowing terms of both teams.

Hawthorn have got their mojo back ( last week being an exception) but they are the bogey team at present and will make a late run for the 4 methinks.
Power House are struggling at present with injuries and the loss of Baker will be telling.

I ran into Peter Stuyvesent at the Rosstown last night, he was saying that one of the Mahoney brothers may be in doubt this week. Now I know that the word of a guy that likes backing the 4 dog at Dapto on a Thursday night is that strong, but is there any truth to the rumor?

Was he there with his mates Peter Jackson & Philip Morris?

Ok so down to business.... I see our exspurt has deserted his task this week. ( flash-in-the-pan!) Imposter.

BENTLEIGH host St Marys Salesian. Hmmm.not too much to ponder here. Bentleigh in a thrilling game. Deliiiicious!!!! Will the hill boys be chanting from outside the ground???
Will the beer police be patrolling the boundary. Will the elbows be up and running? All this and more will be answered by 5:00pm Saturday. Go Robbo. Go Shooter!

UHS VU v West Brunswick.. Vultures by a nose. Nikko? No Irving, No Magpies?
The Kirkmeister will have a field day if the midfield,(Sudholtz) can win the ball.

Elsternwick v Monash Gryphons. Wicks to retain the Murphy-Wells Cup.
By the way, according to my sauces at the Rosstown, one Mahony won't make the senior side. First time for eons!!! Oh well, battle of the also rans.

StJOHNS v St Francis Xavier. Visitors by just enough.Expect an Xillerating game, double x'ss on the selection sheet, xactly as planned. Alright, that is not as funny as I thought. The Beaky boys must regroup and will I believe.Thumper!!!

POWER HOUSE v Hawthorn. Hawks to get the nod. But a bruising game nontheless.
The House face SFX next week and the Hawks meet UHS-Vu at home. So injuries will be critical.

I now declare places one and two sealed! three & four still to be decided.Mind you I'm not sure the Demons will finish top. Any 2 of 4 could make up the minor placings.
That will be sorted by round 13 or 14.

Round 8 Preview:

The House over UHS-VU by 6 Pts (Much depends on whether Burnside is back, but I'm going to give the Piranhas one more chance as a loss here would all but settle the four. Uni High were ordinary last round and their only consolation is that only one team is set to be demoted this season).
Monash over Westies by 16 Pts (Hope the Gryphons haven't believed their publicity. The club has a habit of a big letdown after a strong win. Still Nick Rutherford and Clint Mackie are in great form and should do enough to quell the Magpies).
SMS over Joc's by 11 Pts (Clear match of the day. The Joc's have surprised all and sundry this year and expect to them to play with great determination again, however, the Sainters have not put a foot wrong since April and should do enough to win a close one at home).
Demons over the Hawks by 36 Pts (Wish this could occur at AFL level! Whichever way you look at it, Bentleigh are the strongest club in this section and even though the Hawks form has been pleasing of late, they will be no match for Paul Magnifico and Chris Fidler).
SFX over Wicks by 48 Pts (Can't have the Wicks. Lock of the week, so Elsternwick will probably prove me wrong, but they are in poor form and SFX have been strong for much of the year).

Round 8 Review

2/5 (25/40 cumulative). I must admit I have come to most taxing juxtaposition. Two awful rounds of tipping has me pondering the chances of at least half the competition.
All that is sure is that SMS and Bentleigh are the two standout teams and the game Arthur St should be a cracker. What to make of SFX? Two weeks ago world-beaters and now they are travelling the course of the Piranhas. Speaking of the man-eaters, they are fast becoming the whipping boys of D3 and will miss finals easily on current form. The Wicks are harder to pick than a broken nose. Dave Smith back has meant some late money from Dubai on them reaching the four though. Who is the weakest team of Monash, West Brunswick, Uni High and Hawthorn? Buggered if I know as none are any good, but fortunately all but one will be playing D3 football in 2010. Luck's a fortune at times!

Round 9 Review

SMS over Bentleigh by 5 Pts (I am going for a few upsets this round and it may as well begin at Arthur St where the most anticipated fixture in ages is set to take place. Should be a cracker all day long, but I favour the boys from Ferndale Park to salute due to a more ferocious style of play. I expect Liam O'Keefe to lead the way for the Saints up forward, but can't see his rookie contemporary, Brandon Hunt doing the same for the Demons).
UHS-VU over Westies by 16 Pts (Always sends a shiver down my spine when I tip the Vultures, but I can see them 'out-crapping' West Brunswick in this clash of relegation battlers. Kirk to benefit from for the haphazard Magpies defence).
Monash over Wicks by 14 Pts (All reasoned analysis points to a big Elsternwick win, so I for one won’t have a bar of it. Sick of the Wicks being unpredictable. The Murphy-Wells Trophy to find its way back to East Caulfield Reserve in a fiery encounter with namesake Wells starring for the Gryphons).
Hawks over The House by 19 Pts (The Piranhas are gone. Playing with little spirit too. The Hawks to get that winning feeling again in yet another intriguing fixture that makes Rivalry Round so pivotal. Ogge to play forward and fire).
Joc's over SFX by 13 Pts (Another very tough match to pick on paper. SFX have been good this year but have begun to falter of late. St Johns have won key close games, but have seldom been world-beater’s. Just think their renowned attack on the footy will see them over the line. Joseph Scardamaglia to star for the home side).
Good luck to all

Quasi

Word has circulated about the unity (or lack of) at St Mary's between (in no particular order) Coach A, Coach B and the runner.

Whilst I wasn't there to witness it, word is that if it was videoed it would win almost footy legends for sure.

Any inside word on the incident Griffo?

Football is a game of emotions and unfortunately our runner lost control of his on saturday for a fleeting moment. He is extremely embarrased by it and would take the moment back in hindsight. He is the fitness coach at the club but does not come from a football background. He has not had the exposure to the environment and took something personally which never was intended that way. He does a fantastic job with the fitness side of things and has done a great job all year as the runner. We had our Ball on Saturday night and all had a laugh about it all. It would have looked funny to the opposition but dont read to much into it. Have seen many a player in both football and cricket do the same and more.

Unity is not a problem with the coaches or the runner. The two coaches have known each other since they were 12 and are very close mates and the runner is the non playing coach's brother. Think it would take more than a little thing like that.

More pressing for us would be bouncing back against Monash and dishing up something much better than what we put up on Saturday.
