Word has circulated about the unity (or lack of) at St Mary's between (in no particular order) Coach A, Coach B and the runner.

Whilst I wasn't there to witness it, word is that if it was videoed it would win almost footy legends for sure.

Any inside word on the incident Griffo?

Definatley no lack of unity! As Bails said, a moment of madness but not really big deal to be honest. Wasnt great, but eveyone concerned moved on pretty quickly.... Wouldnt be the first time someone has stormed off the field in anger.... It was a frustrating day for the seniors, wasnt their best game!! Very good side Bentleigh....

Great to see a Bentleigh committee member muck racking!

I find it hard to belive that loseing 5 to 6 players means they go from hardly loseing a game to hardly winning a game maybe some players are not makeing the sacrificis needed to go up a division?

Ya reckon?? At this standard? you're kidding yourself! You need to recuit more players every year as you progress up the rankings, not lose players. Unless you have a strong U'18s or U19's coming through.

You can have all the commitment you want but you need the cattle on the park to stay competitive

Which team are you associated with Macker?

errr - 1 of those is B Irving - he's with VFL Port Melbourne FC - with huge support of the WB crowd. at the same time, player turnovers happen every season! surely its more of a question on WB depth, easy to make a judgement about sacrifices from behind a keyboard, but its not as tho we are getting paid to rip your bleeding hearts out or slay virgins for the sake of clubs, well not exactly everyone allegedly the Bentleigh boys are doing just that week in weeek out - *JUST JOKING!*?!??

Football is a game of emotions and unfortunately our runner lost control of his on saturday for a fleeting moment. He is extremely embarrased by it and would take the moment back in hindsight. He is the fitness coach at the club but does not come from a football background. He has not had the exposure to the environment and took something personally which never was intended that way. He does a fantastic job with the fitness side of things and has done a great job all year as the runner. We had our Ball on Saturday night and all had a laugh about it all. It would have looked funny to the opposition but dont read to much into it. Have seen many a player in both football and cricket do the same and more.

Unity is not a problem with the coaches or the runner. The two coaches have known each other since they were 12 and are very close mates and the runner is the non playing coach's brother. Think it would take more than a little thing like that.

More pressing for us would be bouncing back against Monash and dishing up something much better than what we put up on Saturday.

This is pure and absolute SPIN.

Do you work for Kevin Dudd???

Whisper from Elsternwick they have signed a giant Irishman to play this week, a recent Irish recruit soon to resume his footy from major knee reconstruction incurred in his first game last year and a star from QAFL ( Wilston Grove FC)!

MY Tips for round 10.

West Brunswick v St Johns....Magpies by a few.(especially if Big Billy plays!) Long road trip for the Jokkas.
Elsternwick v Bentleigh..........Elsternwick.(Don't be surprised if even their ressies win, I will!
StMarys Salesian v Monash Gryphons ....Saints over the pagans.
Can't quite get excited by a gurnsey that combines Yellow, green, white and black though!
Power House v St Francis Xavier...........Saints over the slushies. Beaky boys are back in town.
Hawthorn v UHS VU..........Vultures by a whisker( or a beak)which ever is the lesser margin in the bird feathers battle. Which side can prevent goals "leaking" through the back line?
Good luck to eveyone this weekend! Get muddy!!!! Get footy!! Get pissed!!

Round 9 Preview

SMS
over Bentleigh by 5 Pts (I am going for a few upsets this round and it may as well begin at Arthur St where the most anticipated fixture in ages is set to take place. Should be a cracker all day long, but I favour the boys from Ferndale Park to salute due to a more ferocious style of play. I expect Liam O'Keefe to lead the way for the Saints up forward, but can't see his rookie contemporary, Brandon Hunt doing the same for the Demons).
UHS-VU over Westies by 16 Pts (Always sends a shiver down my spine when I tip the Vultures, but I can see them 'out-crapping' West Brunswick in this clash of relegation battlers. Kirk to benefit from for the haphazard Magpies defence).
Monash over Wicks by 14 Pts (All reasoned analysis points to a big Elsternwick win, so I for one won’t have a bar of it. Sick of the Wicks being unpredictable. The Murphy-Wells Trophy to find its way back to East Caulfield Reserve in a fiery encounter with namesake Wells starring for the Gryphons).
Hawks over The House by 19 Pts (The Piranhas are gone. Playing with little spirit too. The Hawks to get that winning feeling again in yet another intriguing fixture that makes Rivalry Round so pivotal. Ogge to play forward and fire).
Joc's over SFX by 13 Pts (Another very tough match to pick on paper. SFX have been good this year but have begun to falter of late. St Johns have won key close games, but have seldom been world-beater’s. Just think their renowned attack on the footy will see them over the line. Joseph Scardamaglia to star for the home side).

Round 9 Review

As has been widely reported, I had a shocker last week. 1/5 (26/45 Cumulative) had me briefly pondering quitting, but that attitude has never served anyone well.

More importantly, we have a couple of late challengers for the finals, Elsternwick and UHS-VU. The Wicks in particular have impressed in recent weeks and even though I have been reticent selecting them due to inconsistency, I may have to jump on board! I am less convinced by the Vultures, but a 4 & 5 win/loss ratio has them in a position to challenge. SFX were the big winners from the weekend in my opinion. Just when a few pundits were questioning their class, they produced arguably their best performance of the year by crushing the Joc's on their home turf. I should never have tipped against Bentleigh. Too many guns and far too much pace for SMS. Still don't know where to rank the Piranhas or the Hawks for that matter, so will rely rumours from colleagues.

Round 10 Preview:

SMS over the Gryphons by 51 Pts (The Gryphs are heading for D4 with haste and so the Saints should have no trouble in hammering another nail in their coffin. The only way this contest will be such is if SMS go in with a complacent attitude).
The Joc's over Westies by 3 Pts (Very tough one to tip and with my recent form, it is likely to go the other way. However, St Johns are tenuously clinging to 4th spot and will not want to let this slip).
Bentleigh over the Wicks by 21 Pts (Even though Elsternwick match up well against the Demons and carry consistent form into the match, I am not tipping against Bentleigh again. Paul Magnifico to star in a high scoring affair).
Hawks over UHS-VU by 1 Pt (Tempted to tip a draw as I have not seen a more even game on paper for some time. Uni High's form of late has been solid, but the Hawks have been improving as the season has unfolded and may have enough in the tank to just get over the line at home).
SFX over The House by 11 Pts (Another tough game to tip. Match of the day in my book. I was impressed by the ferocity of the lads from Beaconsfield last round and Powerhouse were arguably lucky to get over the line against Hawthorn. If the Hawks can get within a couple of kicks at Ross Gregory then SFX should do a little better and take the chocolates).

Good luck to all

Went and watched the Hawks v Uni High on the weekend. For the second week in a row the Hawks seemed to have the game under control with about 10 minutes to go but then stopped. Full credit to the the Uni boys, with 17 men mind you, out-ran the Hawks in the last 10 mins and just about stole the game. They hit the front with about a minute to go but the Hawks composed themselves and had two shots on goal which got them over the line.
The big full forward from Uni High (Kirk I think) was on fire until Ogge was moved onto him and did a great job I thought. Collins is a gun and would surely be fielding offers from many sides come the seasons end.
The Hawks run the ball extremely well but they don't play at their best for long enough. The Uni High team never give up which is great quality to have in a side.
Was a good game to watch.

Anyone catch the Elsternwick v Bentleigh game?

What happened to the Wicks? Wern't they meant to be the next big challange to Bentleigh - let me guess - injury and the umpires cost them the win!

Actually the umpiring was terrible with bad decisions going both ways! I got a sore neck from constantly shaking it from left to right. But D3 standard get D3-D4 umpires.

Long story short, Bentleigh kicked 9 goals to 1 in the first quarter & it was pretty even after that, with Bentleigh only kicking 11 goals after that for the match.

looks as though monash got the rough deal, playing sms after a loss to bentleigh and at sms. wats happenin down there, not often you see a score of 200+
