What an understatement!
Every team outside the four has a chance, albeit slim in some cases. Relegation is not yet decided either. Bruce McAveny would be salivating!

The Ammos must make some make some editorial from these prospects.

Gosh, what a season. Form, lack of form, upsets, boilovers etc...who would have picked it? Not me for sure.
Sentimental favourites for the flag are Bentleigh. If for only the sake that they have been bridesmaids to the SMD's too many times. They have recruited some big bodies this season and that's served them well.

StMarys Salesian would be my pick for brides attendants this season and D2 in'10. Stiff I believe.

SFX have done well in D3 and will be a threat for seasons to come.

Fourth place is up for grabs and is perhaps only a consolation for the last finalist.
Bring on the footy trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RELEGATION.
Ohh, that word, for some means humtliation, for others, salvation (if they can pluck a flag from the ashes.)

It is truely unbelievable that all sides out of the 4 can make it and also get relegated at the same time. In every grade you would be safe with six wins but at the moment 6 wins might see you in D4 next year.
I have a question....
Would a club rather get relegated so their chance of winning a flag is increased? Or, would clubs prefer to stay in D3 where and battle without any real chance of finals success??
As for the finals, any thing can happen once you get there....

I dont think any team wants to be relegated, even if if means a guarunteed flag (which it should be this time as the 3 best r coming up next year and only 1 is going down). Being relegated is a chance to re-build, and if u bring home the flag then perhaps a few more players will hang around. The goal of most footy clubs you will find, is to be successful and build a reputation as a strong and respectable club. You cant do that by winning low level flags constantly..

"How many players might you lose if you dropped to the lowest grade?" If zero - dropping & having a good year (coming back up) would not hurt??????

Well done to the young fella from Bentleigh who umpired the 2's game on Saturday. There's been plenty of talk about bad umpiring but this kid deserves a pat on the back. Very young but did a fantastic job in a very tight game. We only fell short by a couple of points making the 2's finals series a tantalising prospect.

Coming off playing you boys (2nd) last week, we play 4th, 6th and 3rd for the remainder of the season in the 2s. Tough final month but we will be well prepared going into finals. Surely on that final day it'll be us v you and could go either way with one win each during the season now. Will be another great contest.

not if we have anything to say about it.. I heard a rumour Boyce will be umpiring the 2's finals series..

That's for sure. Danger team for Bentleigh, have been keeping a eye on them just outside the 4.

1st game at the zoo was neck & neck for the first 3 quarters & the 2nd game at Bentleigh was a sh1t fight all day.

You guys seem to match up well against us & I've been surprised why you haven't been in the 4 all year
 
I hate to throw the cat amongst the pidgeons...BUT....rumours suggest that due to the possibility of a D3 or D4 team folding at the end of this season, the VAFA is considering changing it's decision to relegate only 1 from D3 and relegate the bottom 2 instead!.

Just a rumour...or not?

Agree 100% Sniper! Cant believe they are outside the 4 (for now...). We had them round 1 and we pretty much stole the game, they where very good! We have them again in the last round, could be do or die for them.....definatley one to watch..
