ROUND 4 SELECTIONS.

Elsternwick. Latrobe Uni. Albert Park. Hawthorn. Power House.

Hoes - Just. Will be very tight and we will have to play well. 3 points

La Trobe - over Yarra. A few injuries to Yarra last week and the big open ground of the Trobers that they play so well to get them the chocolates. 28 points

AP's - Just over Brunny. King to kick a few me thinks. Have not seen Dallas in the players for a few weeks and he smashed us, so if he is due back even better news for APs. Brunny do play alot better at home though so expect this to be tight. 13 points

St J's - too strong for UHS-VU me thinks as they have the best form in the grade at this time. 38 points.

House - I would imagine should be too strong for Kew. Eddo will be hungry for some goals and should help the House to a comfortable win. 41 points

Hawks - just over SFX. I don't think a win is too far away for SFX and at home will give them a shot at this week. But the Hawks have been ok and Ogge is a gun that could cause a problem for the SFX match up team. 17 points.

Unfortunately another week on the sidelines watching the boys. Bad news for the guy who would have played on me....he just missed his chance at best on ground.

Good luck all.

Chump.

A number of upsets on the weekend if you go by who everyone is tipping on here....
Good win by the Hoes against the Wicks on their postage stamp. Up by 10 goals at halftime -- game was effectively over. Elsternwick was quite ordinary as a matter of fact. Not sure why everyone was tipping them to be honest.
St Johns losing to UHS-VU at home was interesting. Latrobe only team undefeated. Early premiership favourites.

Hoes had a better performance against the Wicks who could have been a lot closer had they nailed some chances. Hoes are getting better as younger players are improving as they get used to senior footy.

Latrobe setting themselves up as favorites followed by st Johns who have had a good start but lost surprisingly to Uni High.

A very even comp by the look of it.

I would say the Kew-Bangers were not good enough on the day as Piker's Powerhouse are not invicible. Didn't Elstinwick beat them last week?

Okay since no-one else on this forum is putting their nadgets out there to stir some debate, on very limited evidence, this is how I predict the ladder will finish after round 18:

La Trobe
Hawthorn
St Johns
Ivanhoe
Yarra Valley
Powerhouse
Uni High
Albert Park
Elsternwick
Kew
west Brunswick
St Francis.

Comments welcome and I reserve my right to change the order as the season progresses!!!

Wamba......I will have a crack......but my tipping has been very ordinary recently so I will most likely be way off the mark.

La Trobe
St Johns
Ivanhoe
Yarra Valley
Hawthorn
Powerhouse
Uni High
Albert Park
Elsternwick
West Brunswick
Kew
St Francis.

......and this weeks games .......some rippers in here looking at the form guide thus far.

Yarra over the Wicks at home - 15 points - injuries at Yarra not helping, but I think if they can contain Smith they will kick a winning score.

Hoes over Kew - 3 points - talking of injuries ( are you kidding me ) another 5 went down last week at Hoe park - we have officially moved our club rooms to the Austin Hospital up the rd. great opportunity for others to step up. Hoes just.

West Brunny over SFX - 34 points Brunny boys play well at home and did the job last week. I expect them to do the same this week to SFX and make it two in a row.

USH-VU over AP's - 24 points - I thought USH-VU looked good against us for 3/4 and believe they can match it with anyone I have see if they are on their game. AP's not at the top of theirs at the moment, so Uni for mine.

La Trobe over the Hawks - 14 points - match of the round. Hawlks are going along very nicely at the ,moment - but not as well as the Trobbers. This looks like a cracker, but i expect the red and black to get over the line.

St J's over the House - 19 points - this should be a great game as well. The house have come back to the pack a little after the first two big wins. and St J's will be very keen to atone for last week. I think they will get the chocolates.

Some real ' 8 point games' in this lot in terms of ladder position and either breaking away in the top half or keeping it all pretty tight.

Good luck all.

Yarra Valley vs Elsternwick
Ivanhoe vs Kew
West Brunswick vs St Francis Xavier
Albert Park vs UHS-VU
Hawthorn vs La Trobe University
Power House vs St Johns

tips for this round

Yarra Valley V Elsternwick
Elsternwick really disapointing last week so should be up for this one, but am sticking with Yarra Valley at home by 19.

Ivanhoe V Kew
Ivanhoe to be upset at home. Ivanhoe could be a big player come finals if they have a full injury free list, but they have to get there first. Games like this will be vital. Kew will take alot from last week.Kew by 1

West Brunswick over st Francis by 36.

Albert Park V UHS-VU
Albert Park to struggle against a good UHS-VU outfit. Good win at johns last week, so students prove they can win on the road. Students by 20.

Hawks V La Trobe. Students might struggle on this ground as its about the size of the center square at their home ground. Hawks in an upset, by 12.

Powerhouse host St Johns. Both 4-1, should be a cracker. Johns will be dirty after losing at home last week, but am going with House by 3.

Good luck all

Hoes happy to get the points against Kew who hung in there all day and will take a few scalps on the way this year.

The big no.27 was impressive all day. It's no mean feet to kick 6 on teh Wood Duck!!!

Latrobe again put in an impressive performance, as did St Johns away to Powerhouse and those two continue to set the pace.

Went a saw the Hawks for the first time this year. Turnovers under no pressure killed them. Latrobe made them pay with about 10 goals from direct turnovers in the 2nd half. Not a bad game to watch and probably the highest standard I've seen in D3. Both teams move the ball well (except when the Hawks turn it over!!!). The big full forward from Latrobe had 6 kicks for 6 goals all from about 45 out - awesome kick. Latrobe are a slick unit.

Pretty quiet in here of late.

My mail is that two senior Powerhouse players walked out on the club last week because they didn't get on well with Pikey and that a few others could join them in the coming weeks.

Anyone else heard this rumour or does vegemite have the facts to dispel such gossip?

One reserves player one senior player. Brothers come as a package - live near ballarat - travel and work committments were the reasons given.

IS this forum here to start rumours - maybe you should change your name to Hutchi

They left because they were individuals or they left due to travel and work commitments?? seems like a few different versions have surfaced....

Every individual has has their own reasons. The player gave 'travel and work commitments' as his reason for leaving. What other people read into is only their opinion.

We're all happy little vegemites at Power House just ask the silver fox himself.

Any way vegemite will reply soon enough after he finishes the craig hutchison interview for the scoop on the footy show this week. Who knows a spot opens up in the team and he may well be back from retirement!

Hey, it looks like you're all looking for a scoop. OK, here it is.

The guys who left made long distance trips to train and play each week for the love of the club over several seasons - who could blame them for leaving if their work and family life made it too difficult to continue. We enjoyed having them with us and they will always be welcome at the House.

Can't give you too much about the current feeling around the club. I've just welcomed a 3rd Vegemite into the world and that has been taking up most of my time - 3 daughters now - I'm in for a hard time down the track!!!!

However, back to the footy, word is that we're all still positive. All I know is that there was a great feeling around the place last time I was there - big numbers on the track, big numbers for Thursdays upstairs, big numbers at the social stuff - all good; obviously it's disappointing to have a loss, but I'm sure the boys will bounce back.

Cheers Vegemite (still retired.... for the time being)

What has hppened to Nicoteen - where is Boycey. Lets get some real issues discussed here!

Sniper - where are you - you snob!
Did we all thank an umpire last weekend?

YES I am bored.

Yes he is the "Rolls Boyce" of umpiring. Albeit a 1956 model!

Thankyou Boycey!

Where would we be? Who knows but one thing is for sure the ride would not be as enjoyable with any other.

Here's to the men in white, orange, yellow and pink (oops)

Well done all the volunteers each week who umpire in the lower grades - Goal, Boundry and Field. Imagine how easy it would be to sort out match days with that taken off our ( all lower grade ) clubs plate.

I suppose it's a great reminder to all and sundry to pull our heads in when we get fired up about the odd decision that did not go our way. If it was an easy job, with a little more thanks - then maybe a few more would put up their hand?

If anyone has a size 52 pair of white shorts I might be able to run the boundry this weekend?

Chump.

I put umpires in the same boat as: Parking Inspectors, Ticket Inspectors and Scout leaders. Just because we need them, does not mean you have to like them.........
