Have you played UHS yet bigwaz ? Thoughts ? Strengths/weaknesses?
Anyone else you have played that was hard to play against? I'd like to run a little story in the VAFA record about the state of d3.

Seriously though. Have seen him twice now. Once for a half in slippery wet conditions until injured and once for a full game, both times has been probably the standout player on the ground in a losing side.
Dont miss him in the mids when selecting your team of the year.
Can play.
Boycey is a top notch administrator and UHS has been competitive for a long while. If anyone's due a premiership it's them.
I haven't seen much of the two games we played against them. I only saw the first quarter out at the zoo and we were leading 5 goals to 1! Obviously they won both games, so must be a pretty handy side. Their record speaks for itself. You're only as good as your record, and RC can't claim anything other than being middle of the pack at the moment.
Do they have no injuries, or are they just not bothered about publicly stating theirs i wonder?
I suppose they haven't had to come up with an excuse for losing yet...

As for UHS they do look like the outright favourites at the moment but we will see I guess. I will check out their game next weekend. Do we have any other nominations for team of the year?

That Point Cook’s hierarchy is possibly hoping to jump ship to the WRFL is a shame for junior footballers in the Wyndham area.
With only a handful of west suburban clubs playing in the VAFA, and their spread, the Amateur discipline, ethos and brand of football is currently available to all players in the greater western suburbs. Many footballers approaching U19 level have played similar football at college and understand its character and appeal.
The excuse, (not the reason) is that some within the team don’t enjoy the travel. We at Willi love it as we get to play on fantastic grounds with facilities that we in the west can only dream of, without the humdrum of playing the same teams on the same grounds year after year. I’m being pragmatic, not elitist. Travel dislike is a fallacy.
So much for the travel as Point Cook travel to 7 away grounds in less than 35 minutes:

Willi CYs have Newport close by which gives local young footballers the choice of playing Western Suburbs football, or Amateur football. Win some, lose some, but young players have a choice. In recent years the WRFL has solicited Albanvale, Werribee Districts and Wyndham Suns from the VAFA, thus leaving many young footballers with little or no choice of selecting a different competition in which to play.
It has been discussed that the WRFL has set up new teams in the western suburbs in order to prevent them from leaving their competition. (Not a fact, just idle talk.) Has the WRFL planted the new hierarchy into Point Cook for the explicit reason to conjure another club from the Amateurs? Why, when there is another club, viz Sanctuary Lakes offering the same brand of football in the same locality?

We have been lucky that Westbourne had a fall from higher divisions otherwise there would be no close by games.
I dont disagree with the Ethos etc but at div 3 and 4 we arent playing on too many super grounds and facilities. Dont worry we will be driving an agenda to improve the standards.
The WRFL didnt instill anyone to our clubs hierarchy. They ran and were voted in by the members of our club. I think that statement is a rubbish one. We are a better club than that. We are not dictated to by a league, especially one we are not currently participating in at senior level.

Things change pretty quickly. See Werribee and Rupertswood.

I think you'll note injuries are often discussed on this forum.
Just looked back Dog & very little discussion. Injuries and absences are part of every winter season. It's the season ending ones that add up.
Most premiers have a better than average run with injuries so the weeks ahead will tell the story. Depth is the key!

SeaSide, Wyndham Suns were quite happy to stay with the VAFA. School politics forced the split between Westbourne seniors and juniors resulting in the creation of the new club to keep the kids together and to play U19 and seniors in due course. Agreements were made and undertakings given by VAFA which were accepted in good faith by both clubs. WRFL tried the old chestnut of "if your proposed seniors don't play with us we will kick out your juniors" and were told where to go, and they went back under their rock.
Travel was an issue and was accepted as a part of playing in the top competition but things like Yarra Valley scheduling an U19s home game at 8:30am caused a lot of resentment with parents.
Unfortunately the agreements were not honoured by VAFA and the Suns were treated appallingly. There were allegations and namecalling between Suns and OW. By the end of the season it was very apparent that the Suns were not wanted in VAFA for whatever reason and the decision was made by the club to go to WRFL.
Like Point Cook, it didn't sit well with everyone, but the VAFA's behaviour basically forced their hand.
I did not want my kids playing in WRFL U18 and U19 and recent incidents with thug cultures at Newport and Albanvale have borne this out. But the VAFA made their bed and they are the ones missing out.
Hopefully the Suns and Point Cook can resume a friendly rivalry next year.

Agreed. Played on him earlier this year for about a quarter and a half until the coach realised I was out of my depth and shifted me back to the back pocket haha. He's a gun and should be a moral for team of the year. I think he polled pretty well in the league medal last year too.
